.My computer crashed!!!!

It crashed yesterday and I am so depressed!!! :sad2: I am now using DS's computer to access the internet.

I had everything on it, ING account #'s, never thought to write them down. :( Plus tons of pictures including pics from our first WDW trip. :sad: I did print out a college type of picture that has our WDW pics on it. Wonder if I can take that to say Wal Mart and use that machine to make pictures.

Only one good thing is we took out an extended warranty on it. But that doesn't make up for loosing everything. Last night I could have just sat down and cried! But then the anger kicked in, and luckily it's still in one piece cause a baseball bat would have looked nice smashed into the top of it.

Have you tried to see what is wrong with it? Have you checked it for viruses or anything?
 
Boy, doesn't technology stink sometimes! I hope you are able to get things straightened out somehow!
 
We can't get into the computer at all. When it's started up it asks for a password, DH and I never put a password on our computer cause of our DS likes to play games.

Seems to us that someone got into our computer and put a password on it. Then DH did a system recovery to put it back to like when we first got it, but it wouldn't even do that. Needless to say, DH isn't very happy either, he also had alot of stuff on there that has to with his fish keeping hobby.

Off to get fixed it goes. But I am really scared about handing it over, cause it has to go back to Best Buy. Just read some things on the internet about them not fixing things right or not fixing them at all and the comsumer never got their product back. :earseek:

Has anyone had Best Buy repair anything for you?

I don't know how technical you are, but you could aways chain the hard drive to your DS's computer and get your files that way, provided the hard drive is still intact. It would at least give you a chance to back up your files before you shipped it out to be fixed.
 
My little HP laptop was a lemon from the beginning. HP fixed it the first time, then Best Buy 2x's. Didn't realize they should have replaced it until after the third time. After the third fix, in a different state!) it has run through all kinds of crisis! It has been dropped, manhandled, the hard drive removed while operating, and has been great. So, I figure that it just depends on who has done the fixing!

is there a tech support number you can call? Maybe they can talk you through something that will let you in to the system. I'd try that before taking the whole thing in. :badpc:
 
If is only a matter of being locked up, and if you have not restored to original, most likely all the info is still there on the drive, if you can access. I would call tech support of the PC maker and relate your situation.
 
SetzKitten..I'm not very technical at all when it comes to things like that. Plus I don't think anything is left since DH did the system recovery and even that didn't work.


I_Know_You2!....Our computer is also an HP, but our warranty with HP has expired, that's why we are thankful we took out the extended warranty. DH is hoping they will just give him a new tower. LOL!!!! I have already told him to keeping wishing, cause I don't see them doing that.

....Tech support was only good for the warranty period, now they can't help us, that's what they told DH last night. Bunch of crap if you ask me!!! It seems everytime we go with a computer made by a "name brand" we have nothing but problems with it. Before this one we had a Gateway, which is what we gave to DS and what I am using now. It still has it's problems, but it's good enough for DS to play games on. Now we are having problems with the HP. AAAHHH!!!! Fun things is, our very first computer we had it built from "scratch" with what we wanted in it and never had one problem with it.

DH has had it with name brands, that he wishs instead of buying this HP he would have had another one built.

This defintaly would have been me last night if my kids wouldn't have been around....

Just keep all of your documents! I am glad ours continues to function (finally!), but if I had carried the correct paperwork with me I would have had a replacement for this one.
