My co-worker is a fountain of misinformation!! 5/14 the day has come page 130

That is so unfair. I think a one week suspension without pay to give her time for the online seminar would be more appropriate.

She really truly is clueless! Can we please just send her back to where she came from? Better yet anyone got any duct tape?

She got a slap on the wrist. Written up for the permanent file, and has to take some kind of online seminar by September 1.

I work in HR and this is pretty much the first step that is taken in a situation like this. Personally, I wouldn't have made her take an on-line one, I would have made her take the "live" class. But then, I'm hardnosed that way.

While it may look like she just got a slap on the wrist the fact is the situation is now documented and the steps are now in place if an involuntary separation needs to happen. I hope someone in HR really speaks with her and lets her know how serious this situation is. She is a walking timebomb for someone bringing the company up on a lawsuit.

All I can say is, no way on my watch would I allow her to even think about stepping over the line again.

However the Dis-er in me can't wait till she does and I can watch it happen :goodvibes :rotfl2:

As much as I enjoy this thread, this is at least the first step in getting rid of her.

If she does anything else like this, report it. Someone else had previously posted about how hard it is to fire someone. I worked for a large company and you had to keep writing them up. Three strikes and most of the time you could get rid of them, but it had to be writeups for the same type of thing.

This is all due to attorneys. If the company fired her, she could then sue and say she didn't realize what she said was racist.

I worked in a department with a call center, as a supervisor I was told you can't fire a pregnant woman. My director even asked HR "so if she cusses out a customer?" HR responded with, "Can't Fire Her!" :confused3

This was over ten years ago, but I worked for a company that did. She was never there. And she didn't always bother to call out. She was let go, she took the company to court and my understanding is the judge asked her if she knew why she was fired. Her response was "because I was out so much." She lost. But like I said this was over a decade ago.

I was fired when I was pregnant, about 9 years ago. It was my second week on the job, the boss found out I was 3 months pregnant, and he blatantly told me he was firing me because he didn't want to have to replace me when I was out to give birth. There really wasn't anything I could do, because I was working off the books for cash at a company that sold those illegal cable signal descrambler boxes. Off the books is an understatement... they didn't even have books! Even their business cards just had the person's name and a phone number, no company name. Now that I think about it, it was probably a good thing I was fired!

Wow, who knew all you had to do was get knocked up and bam, you have 9 months of job security.

Before she just made herself look silly. Now she looks like an a**! I hope she realizes what she was flat out racist.

That is great! I bet the company had the paperwork to back it up.

The same company I did work for did fire one out on maternity leave. She had used her 12 weeks of family medical leave on one pregnancy, got pregnant again and the way the law worked at the time you had to be back at work another year to earn it back. Well, she hadn't been back and used up all of her leave time so they were able to fire her on the first day she missed without having any leave. Just got to document, document, document.

Did her boss have anything to say about it?:sad2:

She and boss are best friends. I'm sure boss told her that it was okay, she knew miss info was just joking. I certainly got the cold shoulder today from them both.

Well in that case the boss has no business being a boss! You can't change the rules just because you "know" someone was joking. The object of her "joke" obviously didn't know! Does her boss have a supervisor or boss? I would say that constitues favoritism. Ugh, this whole thing is just making me mad mad mad for you!

See, she's just the type who doesn't "get it". The fact that she is defensive tells me that she doesn't see anything wrong with her comment.

sad....sad...sad

:lmao: :rotfl: I just love all these stories about Miss Information and also the stories that everybody else has contributed. I have met several people who remind me very much of MI.

That comment she made to your co-worker was so crossing the line! I can't believe that she does not understand how it is racist.

The situation with your boss and MI being friends makes things difficult. My mom has a similar situation at work where her boss is friends with one of my moms co-workers who is just really nasty but because she is friends with the boss nothing is ever done about her attitude. It makes for a very stressful work enviroment.

ITA, one week suspension AND she should go to a LIVE class and be made to see what a racist imbecil she is. The sad thing is, she'll never admit what she did was wrong.
Sensetive? She doesn't know what that means!

They suck.

If they did send her to an in-class ethics training, I would love to be a fly on the wall. I can just hear her now: "Since when is it wrong to call someone a (insert racial slur here)?" :confused3

I don't know if it's just some people's age, but they really need to understand what is / is not acceptable. Not wanting to offend anyone here, but about a week ago, I heard an elderly person (90's) use the word "Jap". They just do not get it. :sad2:
