Know this will probably make some people mad and it actually shocked me because I thought Disney had things in place to prevent this from happening. My co-worker, her children and extended family went to WDW the week after 4th of July. They were going for a wedding in Apopka and decided to spend 6 days at Disney. My co-worker and some of her family stayed in a condo in Kissimmee while her brother, sister-in-law & their kids stayed on property at a value resort. Before she left I told her about using FP as much as possible bc of the crowds and bc they were staying off property so they wouldn't have access to EMH. Well, when she got back to work she happily told me that despite them staying off property they still did most of the EMH hours at the parks. She said her Brother and sister in law told the resort they lost room keys and got new ones issued& gave her & her kids their KTTK cards. She said they were able to show them and do all the EMH without a problem. This kind of bothers me thinking about how I pay to stay on site but it really doesn't matter. It makes me wonder how many people enjoy that perk when I'm there that haven't paid for it.

People resort to most anything, including outright lying, to cheat systems. Sadly, it is nothing new.

To think someone stays off site as someone else they know with the same number of members as their party stay on site during their visit id say a minimal number. Although somebody I knew when I went on my band trip in April stayed extra days after we left off site and was planning on getting someones keys so they could get the perk. It kinda
Me a bit I will say

I would imagine more people will do it now that they have read it here.

Yes, I bet I'll be responsible for large numbers of offsite guests going to EMH. I bet they'll start harassing I site guests to get them extra room keys. This is obviously something that if someone really wanted to do they could figure out on their own.

~LOL. There will always be people who find a loophole in the system. Always. Sometimes they get away with it, sometimes they don't. That's just not my ideal way to vacation or live. :goodvibes

It was obviously more important for the parents to teach the kids that it's okay to lie.

Can't wait until their children are teens and a little loose with the truth... :scratchin:

Or something to teach your kids.

I liked the bracelets and I would like to see them go back to it. Set up a system (like fast pass) which scans the room keys to make sure the keys are valid and haven't already been used to get bracelets. Would be easier for the CMs and I wouldn't have to pull out my room key for inspection at every ride.

But that is just my amateur not completely thought out opinion. I am sure there is a way to scam that system too or drawbacks to it as well, like there are for everything, plus it would cost Disney $.

I have 8 old KTTK card's from previous visits. Since the one from last summer is the same as the one from this summer and I do not recall a single CM looking closely at the card for dates, they are probably good to go if anyone wants them.:rotfl2: Really, did that and is proud of it and we wonder why our kids have such poor morals and ethics. I think it would be neat if Disney came up with a way to deactivate "lost" cards so once such a scheme was pulled, the onsite person would have trouble getting back into their room. After all, if a card is lost and has charging privilages wouldn't you think it would be deactivated?

I liked it when you had to pay for EMH...

But I know I'm in the minority.

Resorts with RFID now have a slightly different looking KTTW, the top is white and I kept looking in my wallet for a light blue KTTW so I resorted to putting it in upside down.

I would think that Disney will eventually use the RFID to validate EMH, the line checks use so many more CMs than normal hours.

they DO deactivate the old cards. because i legitimately lost my card (well i lost it in my room it turned out... 2 yr olds!!) and they issued me a new card. i found the other, accidentally grabbed the deactivated one to go to get ice... needless to say i stood outside a LONG time while my dh took a shower, and ds was napping.

The card being deactivated wouldn't matter as far as EMH go. Because the people staying at the resort would simply keep the new, active cards and give the deactivated "lost" one to their friends. The CMs in the parks fon't scan them during EMH, just look at them. And they would have valid dates, and not look any different from an active card. Pretty foolproof. Not right, though.:sad2:

~Well said, MaxsDad! I totally agree with you! I love your idea for Disney to set up a new system that would just scan the keys once for the evening. :goodvibes

No, I would have no problem with this. I also wish they would close the parks just before EMH starts, let everyone who paid for it wait in one of the lands like they used to, while they completely cleared the parks. Can you imagine how low the crowds would be if they would run everyone out of the parks who shouldn't be there and if people had to pay for EMH?:thumbsup2 I'd be willing to pay for EMH to have the parks that empty! I love morning EMH but seldom even bother with evening EMH anymore because they are so crowded with offsite guests just walking around clogging up the shops and arguing with CMs when they can't sneak onto the rides.

I can't believe she bragged about lying and cheating. Some people have no shame.

This attitude is becoming more and more prevalent unfortunately. Several weeks ago I had a coworker, who asked me how much a trip to WDW costs, as he was thinking about taking his son down there next fall. When I tried to explain that it depended on the time of year and which resort he stayed at, he tried to press me for an exact price. I told him I didn't really know, but to look at the WDW site, decide when he wanted to go and where he wanted to stay and I'd see what discounts I might be able to find for his time frame, but since I usually used an AP discount for a room discount and the TiW card for my meals, I didn't really know what the full cost of a trip without an AP would run. He then got the brilliant idea that I could give them my AP and they could use if for a room discount and his wife's park ticket.:sad2: When I immediately refused he got mad and said he didn't see what it would hurt since I wouldn't be using it that week and it'd save them alot of money. Uh, how about because that would simply be wrong, plus when the wife got caught with my ticket, WDW would not only go back and charge them full price for their room, but they'd also take up my annual pass. He actually got really mad and said he couldn't believe I could be that prudish and selfish that I wouldn't let them use my AP to save them money. He said it wouldn't hurt anything and he was sure lots of people did it. He just couldn't see anything wrong with it.:sad2:

I'm with you!! I loved e-ride nights. They weren't crowded and it felt special to have zero lines and an empty park. We would spend all day at the water parks and then spend all night at MK. One night we rode Space Mountain 11 times in a row without any waiting and we didn't have to wait until the last hour of EMH to do it. Well worth my $12 and I'd gladly pay it again. I'm always hoping that they'll do it again.

For $12 I'd like it too. However, ticket prices have gone up how much over the last few years? Now emh prices would run a lot more than $12 I'm sure...

There are always people looking for loopholes. :sad2:

I think the wristband system was a good one. Give a wristband to those with a resort card that stay for EMH.
