Today was my annual Christmas party for several women in my church and I had a candy buffet instead of desserts. Here's a pic.

I made turtles (with my homemade caramel), chocolate truffles decorated with edible gold glitter stars, brown sugar creams (fondant made from scratch), old-fashioned chocolate covered cherries (homemade fondant wrapped around a cherry then dipped in chocolate), coconut bon-bons dipped in white chocolate, red velvet cake balls dipped in white chocolate, hand-decorated marshmallow Christmas trees (made with homemade marshmallow), white chocolate cherry fudge, mint truffle fudge squares, chocolate walnut fudge, and delicate white chocolate snow flake mints. I purchased the really thin, old-fashioned ribbon candy, old-fashioned Christmas rock candy & mini-pillows, holiday Jelly Bellies, plus extra large cashews, cinnamon almonds, and honey sesame sticks.

I used an assortment of antique candy dishes, my parents wedding crystal (58 yr old) and several modern pieces. My 3-set pedestal cake plate set became a tower centerpiece. At the end of the brunch, I gave them all boxes for take-home treats.

It was fun to make and fun to share!

Very pretty! :thumbsup2

Even though I don't eat much candy myself, I love the looks of these candy buffets.. Either here or on the BB there was a whole thread with loads of pictures and they were so pretty and creative!!

Great job - and I'll bet the ladies loved them..:goodvibes

move over Willie Wonka! YOu did such an awesome job :)
We're going to try making truffles for the first time for Christmas Day.

I really want to do a candy buffet next party I have. I probably will be buying most of the candy though.

This is awesome and your candy looks delicious! :thumbsup2

I feel the cavities forming just looking at that. What a fun idea!!

You need to live closer to ME!! Wow, that looks amazing!! And sounds yummy, too!!

Thanks, everybody! I loved doing it and the whole brunch was fun from the planning to the cleanup. These are ladies that are always doing something for other people, never themselves, and it is a treat to pamper them. All different ages, interests, and personalities but we had a ball.

For brunch, I did several types of quiches, almond-stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, ham balls, several homemade sweet breads, a new recipe for a do-ahead french toast casserole that was the hit of the party, sharp cheddar scones, mounds of fresh fruit, and several salads. I made a new salad with asparagus, egg whites, and cherry tomatoes that I really liked.

For me, though, my personal favorite was that I came up with a close match to the Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge juice. I had trouble finding the guava and passionfruit juices but it was well worth it. Yum!

However, on second thought, I'm not sure if I remembered it exactly right so I think I need to go back to AKL for more research, don't ya think?!?!?!;)
