my cat sprayed my luggage

Another product which will remove the pet odor is called Simple Solution. Its an enzyme which eats up the smell.

You can get it at many pet stores, and the local meijer is starting to carry it as well.

I've had numerous pet peeing incidents. The first. First job, working a ton, didn't clean box as I needed to. Cat urinated outside box, on carpet!!!
Tried, a million different cleaners, and then at the pet store I found the simple solution. A guy from work recommended it, but it was the first time i saw it. If you don't see it in the cat section, check the pet cleaner stuff in the dog section.

The carpet had been peed on over a month before i tried this stuff, and it still got the smell out. ALl the other things I tried, the smell went away temporarily, and then in a day or 2 came back. SOme cleaners have smells which mask the cat pee smell, but that odor can return if not treated properly.
It comes in a gallon and a spray bottle size.
You have to saturate the area where the cat pee is at. So lay the suitcase so the side that got sprayed is flat. Spray away on the suitcase, or dump the liquid out slowly.

I've used this succesfully on car seat, and car flooring.
On clothing. Pre-treat area, and then stick like 0.25-0.5 cup into the load of laundry.
Used it on regular carpet in the house, pet vomit, pea, etc.

I've got 2 older cats, one was really sick with liver failure last year, he pulled thru, but there was lots of cat stuff to clean up last summer.

If you have a home steam cleaner, either a carpet one, or a handheld one. We always add the simple solution into that instead of what ever cleaner it says to, then use it to clean carpets, or car cat smells.

Good luck with the cleaning.
We have a portable steam cleaner that has a ton of suction. Many of the portable steam cleaners have no suction, or very little. If you spray stuff down, many hand helds will leave the items soaked.

Hoover F5411 Steamvac Jr is the one we used, we got it at amazon.com and I just looked, the price is around $54.00
The the last hoover hand held we tried have like 20% of the suction the steamvac jr has. The steamvac jr. I've never seen it in stores.
It is more bulky than other hand held's but does a better job.

In summary if you have lots of cat urine on the object, soal the area with the simple solution. Let it fry out, this could take a day or 2 depending on how much you sprayed and what type of material the luggage is made of.
If the smell comes back, you didn't get down to the source of the problem.

I have no financial relation to either the steam vac i recommended or simple solution. I've used the simple solution for at least 7-8 years with great success.

I am so glad I am allergic to cats... :thumbsup2

I would say if you used a cleaner on it and then set it outside to dry a few days (not overnight) just during the day it would eventually lose the stinch.

You could always buy new luggage and tell DH that you did it so that his favorite bag stays in great shape... :teeth: and that this new stuff can get banged all up at Disney!! It is worth a try..my DH would fall for it..LOL
