I posted a few weeks back about my hesitations about staying at Caribbean Beach. My birthday boy requested a pirate room. I went ahead and booked it and we stayed there a week ago

It was awesome! I was honestly genuinely very surprised, as I had expected...I'm not sure what I expected.

The pirate rooms are MUCH cuter in person. I loved the way the skull on the curtain glows at night if you leave the bathroom light on.

Buses came regularly. While we were waiting, some people at one stop said they' been waiting a long time for a Magic Kingdom bus, but our experience with the buses never involved a wait longer than 10 min.

CS dining was excellent for counter service. I loved the healthy options, although they ran out of ropa vieja and I didn't want to wait. The whole pizza was a great bargain for the kids. (We weren't on the dining plan since it was a 1 night stay.)

Pool was GREAT. The kids had a blast and said they liked it even better than the Kidani pool. The theming was a lot of fun for the kids.

We are living in FLorida for 6 months and we were planning to try to hit every resort at least once, but I'm seriously considering heading back to CB when we go this coming weekend.

I'm usually a villas girl, but the rooms were far more spacious than I expected. I wouldn't choose CB for a long stay because it was so spread out that we opted to drive to the pool/dining area, but for a short stay it was great. We were in a pirate room though, and those are all the way at the end of the resort. I'd pay for a preferred room for a longer stay.

All around a thumbs up!

Thanks for your report :). CBR was our first onsite stay and we loved it. It's been awhile since our stay (2002), but it's nice to read reports of the same great resort we tried all those years ago. We loved everything about the resort and thought the buses were great. We never waited long for a bus for any park and we thought the rides were quick. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at CBR again. Glad you had a great stay :goodvibes.

Glad you had a great stay! We love CBR and don't understand why people give it bad reviews. Oh well, I guess everyone is different ;). Thanks for posting some love for CBR :thumbsup2!

CBR was my first on-site resort. It's a great moderate resort. The main pool does get crowded but it has great theming for the kids. Another nice thing about the resort is that they have a pool for every section and they are normally quiet if the main pool is too noisy for you.

Tip: Request Jamaica--it's very close to the main building

I've heard a lot of good things about the pirate rooms. I'm sure the photos do not give them enough justice. The barrel is disguised as he fridge. Very cool. pirate:

So glad you had a great time! Thank you for sharing your awesome review, we're taking our first trip this fall and staying at CBR.

Thanks we got just over 15 days till we arrive in our Pirate Rooms, cannot wait!!!!!

Thanks for the review. This will be our second time staying at CBR, but the first time with the kids. Cant wait. We loved it the first time, and I'm hoping the kids do to. We showed videos of AoA, and CBR, and they chose CBR. they liked the pirate room, and pool :)

Thanks for the report and glad you enjoyed it.

I'm toying with the idea of a trip with just my 5 year old this fall and the pirate rooms have come to mind. Their location really gives me pause though. Such a shame as I know he would love it.

I have stayed a CBR 3 times and have enjoyed it each time. I have never understood the bad reviews about the bus service or walking distance. We have always opted for a "preferred" room so that we can save our walking for the parks and have never waited more then 10 minutes or so for a bus. However, I will say that we come to Disney during the value seasons. I'm sure it is different during the "Peak" times of the year. The busses may be a little busier then.

I really like the "Moderate" resorts the best. I've looked at the Delux resorts but just can't bring myself to pay the price to stay there.
