We've been at the Candy Cane Inn for 4 nights and will be checking out in few hours. This is our first time staying here and on past trips have stayed at the Annabella once and the Portifino twice.

Our standard 2 queen room was very clean and the beds are really comfortable. (Bring your own pillow if you're not a fan of big squishy down pillows). The free shuttle too and from Disney is great! The free breakfast is served from 7-9 and includes bagels, cream cheese, toast, apples, bananas, oranges, pastries, oatmeal packets and cereal. They have orange juice, coffee, milk, tea and hot coco to drink.

The pool area is clean and pretty and my kids said the pool was warm; I didn't get in :) There's a pool, spa and small kiddie pool.

So that's the good stuff...

The reason we probably won't stay here again, even though we loved all of the above, is the size of the room. It is SO SMALL. We're a family of 4 (mom, dad, 4 year old and 6 year old) and felt like we were on top of each other all the time.

There's no dresser in the room so the only place to put clothes or suitcases is on the floor and maybe one in the very small closet, sepending on the size of your suit case. The bottom of the TV case has 3 small drawers where I put some of my kids clothes, but they hold maybe 2 pair of kid size pants and a few shirts.

I understand they offer 2 upgraded rooms but the sizes don't appear to be that much larger.

Weve found that for us, we really like having a seperate kid area like at the Annabella and Portifino. The CCI is nicer and probably cleaner than the Portifio, but for the same price we really like havng the seperate room with bunk beds, a TV, couch and table. It makes it much more peaceful when the kids wake up much earlier than the adults!!! And we like the privacy at night.

At the Annabella our room was also very small and the kids room was only a bed, which was fine, but combined with the much longer walk, we won't stay there again.

So overall the CCI is very nice, clean and a very pretty property. Just know that the room and bathroom is teeny tiny very small.

Thanks for your balanced review, we to like CCI, but as you highlighted it is very cozy "to close for comfort" comes to mind, although it will make your family closer...;)........popcorn::

Thanks for the review of CCI. I'm going to stay there for the first time in March but it will just be my daughter and me so I think we will be fine with the small room. If it were more than 2 of us I'm sure I would go elsewhere. Glad to hear the rest of it was good. Sounds like the shuttle is very convenient and I'm sure I will be using that at the end of the day :)

Thanks for posting this! I have been thinking we will stay there next summer when we go, I've been wanting to try it. Although with two teen boys it sounds like it might be a tight squeeze. I think we will give it a try just for the location and all the other nice things you mentioned but good to be forwarned about the room size.

Thank you for posting this. I was always concerned about the size of those rooms and with two teenagers and the fact I'd need a rollaway or bring my airbed for my son, this would never work.

But it does look pretty and that nice breakfast, pool area and shuttle have always tempted me. Or not!

The rooms are definately smaller than say HoJo's. I would say with 1 or 2 small kids, it would be ok. The breakfast they offer is really very good, and you can make mocha's to take with you to the park which is nice. I really don't think I'd want to share the room with teenagers though Pinkbudgie....

Well, guess we will have to think about that then. :confused3

My friends and I stayed there when we had our graduation trip. This was 16 years ago (ugg... I can't believe it's been that long) but I'm guessing the rooms are still the same size. There were 4 of us girls staying in one room and I don't remember thinking it seemed too small. But maybe it's different with 2 teenage boys, idk. I still think you should try it, especially since I know you won't really be hanging out at the hotel very much.

When DH and I stayed there last July we had a room with 1 king bed instead of the 2 beds which left us plenty of room so I can't comment on a more recent stay.

seriously...it all depends on how stinky their feet are....they are teenage boys after all!! :lmao:
it really depends on the kids involved.... my nephew is 6 feet 2 inches and weighs about 190 lbs... he is not a small teenage boy! 2 of them in one room would be too much for any room. We would have been fine with our 2 girls when they were teens....

Well, my boys are not large teens. Only a little taller than me. I guess, I'm wondering about room for luggage more than room for all of us. I don't mind squishing in if there is room for suitcases. Sis, if you think we would fit, we'll give it a try. Since you know our boys, we'll go by your judgement. And, if it turns out squishy, it isn't forever and like you said, we'll mostly be at the parks.

Aahhh, I don't want to be responsible! No, actually, I don't think it would be a problem. I guess when we went in July I do remember thinking there wasn't a clear place to put our suitcases but we found a spot and it was no big deal. I guess when I go to a hotel room I'm not expecting there to be tons of extra space so I just squish into whatever room we have and don't think too much more about it. For me, I think the perks of CCI outweigh any lack of space. I honestly didn't even think about the size of the room. Well, you have several months to think about it. :)

Thank you for posting a really balanced review! That was very useful! I was wondering about the CCI too! Sometimes it is hard to find each hotel you think of going to search there page for all of what they offer! Awsome job. Well now I know for sure can't take my 6'1 200 something pound hunny and my 4 girls! LOL!! He does have stinky feet! :rotfl2:
