My cancelled 3/14 cruise????

I know DCL will.... I think... start mailing out emails to guest affected by the suspension of cruises.... not sure whether to wait to hear from them or call them tomorrow.... I just now the queue is going to be ridiculously long!!

Unfortunately no. We booked using CC points so Air Canada won’t let us cancel online and the cc company doesn’t allow online cancellations either. Their call Center closes in 15 minutes and doesn’t reopen until after our flight. So unfortunately we will likely be no-showing and not eligible for refunds.

I get what they’re doing for the safety of everyone.... it’s esp tough today because I work for Disney World and now don’t know when I am able to go back to work again either and I am a server so most of my income comes from guests.... def a stressful day but I guess I should count my blessings that I am not flying down like you poor souls and I don’t have to worry about that! I hope everything works out for you!!

Definitely check with Disney about whatever fees you incur. When they cancelled us a few years ago they paid for all of our change fees and we had about a month's notice. They may choose to do nothing, but we won't know until people start trying!

With such circumstances, would you consider spending time in Orlando? Since they announced a few days ago that they are closed in California on Saturday I suspect they would also announce closure of Disney World with a few days notice. Giving you something to do at least.

It has already been announced that Disney World will close Sunday until the end of March, along with Universal.

Oh, I didn’t hear that. Well that gives you no options sadly. I suspect the animals are safe from this virus. And since people will still have to care for the animals that those will stay open. Maybe Sea World for some or a maybe relaxed hotel/resort stay at Animal Kingdom? They will both be open. Most likely have a few openings now and as the day goes on.
I know you probably won’t go, but maybe something over nothing. If your family is young and nobody is “at risk” maybe you can make the best of it. 2 days at the Disney parks and a super nice resort stay? 1 day or 2 at Sea World?
My heart really goes out to your family. I’m really sorry. Man I really feel bad. I would stay on line. Hope they answer your call and resolve you tickets prior to departure time.

Our cruise was leaving out of Miami, not Orlando. I did look at potential hotel/Airbnb options for the week in Miami, Ft Laudersale and Key West and it was slim pickings. Add to that it’s spring break and based on my experience in Miami last year for the same cruise, not a great place to spend a week with small kids. Mornings are fine but by 2pm the beach is swarmed with college kids and it descends into something from a movie pretty quickly.

If you can't get through by phone, maybe go to the airport and tell them in person to avoid being classified as no-shows? Regardless, I don't see how the airlines can fairly call people no-shows when there is no way to get through in an emergency like this. I'd keep pressing for the refund, and escalate as needed, if they're rigid about giving you one.

The resorts are being closed Monday as well. It's a full closure and Seaworld will close as well

I suspect the animals are safe from this virus.

The best guess is that this virus has zoonic origins. It could easily cross back to another species. That said, zoos cant just stop caring for animals and most will have aggressive plans in place to protect the animals (and people). Its something the industry always has at least in the back of their mind.

I was a zookeeper back in the Jeff Foxworthy days and the American Association of Zookeepers ran a little "you know you are a zookeeper if" column. The truest one I ever saw was you know you are a zookeper if you wash your hands before you go to the bathroom. LOL When animals show signs of illness or off behavior in a zoo they are treated even more carefully than during normal times. So this should be a pretty low concern in American zoos.

And although Ive never had the pleasure to work at AK, after reading through their protocols extensively I would rank them as one of the best.

Unfortunately Miami Dade county has declared a state of emergency so I don’t know that going there is a great option either. Given how fluid this situation is and counties shutting down areas so quickly, perhaps staying home is best.....

I understand three of the Disney hotels have been commandeered by California in order to hold some of the quarantined.

Well finally got my email and have decided to take advantage of the 150% future cruise credit which, in great news mean I won’t have to spend extra money to change this to the May 2 Disney Fantasy sailing!! It a def disappointment to not be going tomorrow but I am beyond thankful I am only 3 1/2 hours away and I have not had to deal with travel arrangements like others that have been messed up by this.... I hope the rest of the people effected have a positive result for something negative! Be safe and God bless!!

Does the credit need to be used in one sailing? Can it be applied to an existing reservation?
