First, let me give you a little background. My department provides a Fast(Firefighter Assist Search Team) it is used for in the course if a fire a firefighter needs help and it's our job alone to get him.
Yesterday my brothers firefighters responded to a working fire as the FAST and while enroute the units we notified of people trapped.
Our FAST arrived and while setting up a MAYDAY was called by the firefighters in the building.A MAYDAY is called by firefighters when you as a firefighter are in need of help it is considered your last hope.
The two firefighters had pulled one victim from the building and went back in to clear the building when they became disoriented in the building in the heavy smoke.
Our FAST entered the building and while using their thermal imaging camera located the two firefighters and removed them safely from the building. They both were transported to the hospital with second degree burns on their knees from crawling on the hot floor.
But they are both alive this could have been a tragic fire had our FAST not been there to get them.
And in a side note the victim the original firefighters pulled out is recovering only from smoke inhalation.
A great job by all the firefighters!!!!!
