My brain is addled about 18% on DDP -HELP

Ok, I have looked through the threads and am either confused or just plan dumb because I still don't have this figured out. There will be 3 adults for our trip this month. we have the disney dining plan with 1 CS, 1 TS and 1 snack per person per day. OK, is the 18% gratuity for TS meals on DDP or DDE? Also is the 18% on DDP only for parties of 6+. I am sure I read somewhere that this was the case but now my brain is addled and I am not sure. We are doing this trip VERY cheaply and it actually matters in terms of what we are bringing for cash. Thanks so much

The DDP no longer includes 18%. Its up to the guest to tip what they see fit. If its a party of 6 or more(dining plan or not), the 18% is included in the bill. If you have a DDE card, starting 1/1/08, a 18% grat is included alongside the 20% discount.

There has been SO MUCH discussion on this topic, that I decided to stop reading about it and figure it out when it "cooled down" and rumors became facts.

(I realize, though, that you need to know because you're actually going!!)

I REALLY hope the PP is correct, but there will be SOMEONE who comes on and tries to contradict him/her.

Because this does seem to be a very confusing topic and one that many seem to have a different answer on, maybe you could call the reservation # and ask them directly....and then I would ask for it in writing - because CM's even occasionally seem to give wrong information.

It means you will need to being enought cash or plastic to leave a tip if there are just 3 of you eating then the tip will not be manditor amount of 18%. BUT you will still need to leave a tip hopefully between 18-20% is the suggested amount at all of the TS resturants you go to. the 'suggested' tip or 18 or 20 will be put on your bill but if you are leaving cash the way i understand it is you need to write cash on the bill and then pay the server....

thanks so much, I really appreciate the help. I was half afraid no one would answer just because everyone IS so sick of this thread. It totally answers my questions and I really thank you. I always tip, I just wanted to make sure I understood this years policy.

For 2008, an 18% automatic gratuity will be added to the bills of the following, and ONLY the following, at the vast majority of TS restaurants at WDW. Dinner shows, etc. already have the gratuity added as part of the price.

1) DDE cardholders, regardless of party size.

2) Parties of 6 or more, regardless of method of payment. All persons at the table, including infants and toddlers or those who do not intend to order a meal, count toward the party size.
