I know I've done it again and left my report writing far too long but I will try and make up for it now. At the end of part 2 we had just arrived in DV with park passes at the ready. Where to go first?
This was my 4th trip to DLP so had been to the studios a couple of times already. The studios are slated an awful lot and this is usually by people that have been to Disney MGM in Orlando. Let me say, you just can't compare the 2. This is not the place for high thrill rides and spectaculars but is impressive in its own way. Having said that, the only reason I wanted to go in the studios was for rock n roller coaster. I also wanted DH to experience Armageddon as he had missed out last trip (kids do this to you). Someone knew it was my birthday weekend because the second I walked through the turnstile, there were Chip and Dale in the courtyard to greet me. I turned to my right and Donald Duck was there signing autographs. I actually squealed like a pre-schooler. DH even smiled instead of rolling his eyes. He was so pleased to see me this happy. Thankyou honey!
I didn't stop for photos because I couldn't bear to come between these characters and these mesmorised kids. I would have my chance later. We commando marched through Disney Studio 1 which is the only way through to the rest of the park. It's an undercover area with eating to the right and shopping to the left. More often then not, a jazz band is playing or a mock movie scene is being shot. Anyway, on with the show.
I knew to head to the left and I could hear music and the sound of Minnie's voice. There was a Lilo and Stitch show going on with Lilo, Stitch, Minnie, Goofy and Pluto. There was groovy dancing a plenty and a limbo contest that Goofy was cheating at. My character count was sky-high for the first 10 minutes and I was a happy bunny. We stopped for a little while but as latecomers it was really hard to see so we moved on.
Finally, Rock n Roller! The wait was only 10 mins but wouldn't you know, a man and his daughter came over and handed us FP. We said thankyou and thought it wasn't that big a deal considering the walk-on wait. However, when we got in the building it was so worth it. We just walked ahead a roomful of people. This ride always gets me by suprise even when I know whats coming. You know the part, when you're in line and you can hear each coaster shoot off at the speed of light. You might think you're the baddest thing since King Kong but I defy you not to be a little bit AAAAAaaarggghhh inside. We got front row, I got the harness on, around the corner, the music builds and WHOOSH the ride of your life. Don't forget to catch your stomach at the end! Yes we bought the picture and they happily doctored in Minnie and Mickey behind us in the car.
Hunger kicked in and we found Mickey pizza. Let me tell you, this is pretty good for park counter food. We ate as we walked the short distance to Armageddon. We had about a 20 minute wait ( the length of a presentation) and once inside DH got irrate. He hates Disney in French and unfortunately when in France... He also suffers from dyslexia which makes the subtitles pretty hard for him to read at speed so he gave up. He got the idea and walked into the "space station". Now everyone naturally gravitates to the middle of the room as this is where the railings are. I had been here before and was not sure this was where I wanted to be. I didn't want to give the game away so cautiously stood one step back. minutes later, the room is shaking and fire is exploding all around, including through the middle of the room. Let me tell you this is no joke, IT WAS HOT! Dh really enjoyed this one and said it was so much better than Twister. We had our picture taken in front of the Armadillo outside and said goodbye to the studios.
Oh my first look at the castle was long overdue....
