My BFF is getting engaged - need some advice!

Calling all the romantic Disers!

One of my best friends may be getting married soon! We are going to Disney World in a few months with friends and her boyfriend told me tonight he wants to propose in the Magic Kingdom and wanted my help!

So, anyone ever proposed or has been proposed to in the Magic Kingdom? Anyone want to give me some tips, hints, advice to pass on to him. I want to make this a wonderful memorable experience for her.

Also, is there any way to get like a Princess and prince involved? Does Disney do something special like this? What else might they do?

Please, I need some MAGICAL ideas!

Awww....that is so sweet of you all to make a day special for your BFF! She is a lucky girl! Good friends can be hard to come by.

Check out disneymooners.com for proposal ideas, etc. I confess I haven't looked at it, but it may be a place to start. Other threads on here might have stuff, too. I think there was another thread with a similar topic.

I don't remember exactly where I read it, but somewhere I read that you can plan a proposal with some disney help! Try looking at Mousesavers.com and allearsnet.com I know those are sites I frequent often. Also, try going to Google and type in Disney World Proposal and see what you come up with. Or type in Disney Wedding Ideas, and see if that helps. Good luck, and tell them congrats from us when it's over!

I have heard that you can get a lot of help from the staff at Cinderella's Royal Table. I know a couple of Dis-ers here were proposed to inside the castle at dinner. Also, right next to the castle is the oh so pretty Wishing Well. Most people don't even know that this little gem exists! The rose garden right before/during Wishes would knock my socks off. Have fun!!

When we were in the world for our planning session 2 weeks ago, we had dinner in the castle and the couple at the table next to us got engaged. Looked like they brought out the ring on a covered platter and then they brought out champagne and there was a DIsney photographer there to document the whole thing.

Oh, and at the end their waiter got everyone's attention in the restaurant and announced ""She said yes!" and everyone there cheered and clapped. It was very cool.

Actually, it was so cool my DF felt bad the rest of the trip that he hadn't proposed at disney. It took me 3 days to convince him that the proposal he did was just as special - and it was!

My Dh proposed to me on Nov 29, 2004 @ 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian. He had set the whole thing up with the manager months before we went. He had the waiter to come to the table and ask for me by name ( mind you I was freaked out the the waiter knew my name) - so I said yes - and he said Lydia there is someone here @ this table that has something they want to ask you ( we were there with some family). I turned to him & he got down on one knee & proposed to me there -- he had bought a glass slipper & put my ring in it (was very beautiful)- they presented me with a white chocolate slipper covered w/little Mickey sprinkles & we took pictures with Cinderella & Prince Charming & then after dinner he took me on a carriage ride --- was very romantic. But proposing in resturants can be a bit tricky @ Disney or @ least is what they manager @ the GF had told him. He told me he had it previously set up for Prince Charming to bring the ring to me @ the table in the glass slipper -- but the manager had to change those plans the night before we were to get engaged. MY Dh told me that he called the manager @ GF the night before on his cell phone while I was on the phone in our room with my Mom and he told him that there was a change in plans. He said that about 2 wks before we were there for dinner they had set an engagement up for a guy & he propsed to the girl that way -- by sending Prince Charming to the table & she said "NO" and there was almost a law suit over it ---- so they tend not to interact with the proposal part as much as they use to --or @least that's what they told my Dh @ the Grand Floridian -- but I hope that helps to give you & your friend a few ideas --- and don't forget to tell him - they have to go on their honeymoon to Disney -- it will just make the whole experience more memorable --because when you think of your engagement & honeymoon you will think of Disney -- and then evey year for your Anniversary you will have such special Disney Memories !!!

CRT is an option, nothing like getting engaged in the castle. The only problem is that they book way in advance and their might not be any ressies available.

Another option is www.giftsofalifetime.com they do engagements as well.

As for having a Disney character....Disney tends to shy away from that. If a character "happened" to be around right after then of course they would stop over for a "congrats" I've seen Alice stop to look at an engagement before.

My DF and I got engaged at DL. He proposed at night in front of the castle. A Disney CM was getting ready to take our picture for us. Then, he got down on his knee and proposed. It was really cool because we have pictures of the proposal.

Also, a CM at DL told me this story. I don't know how long ago this occurred, so I don't know if they still do this or not (or how much this would cost). Basically, the guy was able to dress up as Mickey. The girl's parents took her to DL that day and told her that they wanted to get their picture with Mickey. When the time came for the picture, Mickey (i.e. her BF), got down on his knee and proposed. She was apparently kind of confused and then he took the Mickey head off and she realized it was him. Of course, this was in a closed area (I'm assuming in the room in Mickey's Barn where they normally take pictures) so there weren't any kids or anything that saw Mickey taking his head off.

Hi! Just so you know, proposing at Cinderella's Royal Table became so popular that they now *charge* for the service. It's $250, but you get a lot of stuff with it.

My fiance spoke to someone at the WP about proposal ideas. One she suggested was CRT. I think the cost was around $200. It included the servers bringing out roses to the tables, the ring on the silver platter, special seating (i think for the fireworks) and a few other things. My DF spoke to Kristin at MK Guest Services. He explained his idea to propose in CC. He did it right outside the shop in CC and everyone stopped to watch. DF was very nervous and of course everyone applauded and congratulated us. Then we had to stop by Guest Services. Kristen said she had something for us. She handed us a bag, in it were the Mickey and Minnie Bride and Groom Ears. We were so excited.

We were just engaged 8/19/06 at Cinderellas Royal Table and it was so perfect!!!!!!!!! Afterwards, he told me all he went through to put it together. He had to call a special # to talk to Cinderella's Royal table (not disney dining) to set it up. I know its long, but i do have it listed on my web page about the engagement ( www.goofygal1975.com ) There are so many options, and be sure to have him ASK for a Disney Photographer to be there, my dh2b asked about it and they set it up and we got some great pictures of "the moment". It was so amazing and so romantic!!

There are a lot of other ways to propose at Disney. A wishes fireworks cruise (the night we were engaged, another couple was on the Grand One during wishes, and we were told he was going to propose to her during the fireworks). A walk on the beach between the GF and The wedding pavillion or the Poly Beach. Also a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness or Port Orleans would also be a great idea

my DF did it right infront of Cinderella's Castle while they were taking pictures at night. it was really special, i loved it! something i'll always remember.

he went up to the photo people just before we started taking pictures and told them what was going to happen(i thought he was just asking a question) so they were in on it.
