My daughter is now 18 (as of the 22nd) and is moving out after she graduates from high school. This next trip will be our last with all three of us together (myself, DD, DS 16), at least with them as children.

What is funny is that I asked my son if he wanted to take a trip in August with all of us or in November with just the 2 of us (my daughter would prefer to save money for her moving, although she does love Disney). He was appalled that I would even consider going to Disney without DD. He was truly angry! I think it finally hit home for him that she is leaving (they have been very close - I think because of what both have gone through).

Anyway, for others who have been through this (for our trip next year, if we choose), how different is it when your family is no longer the same size do to them growing up? (What I really dread is when both are gone - I'll no longer have a good excuse to go anymore).

Awwww! I dont have any advice for you, but you may appreciate this.
I went to WDW 3 times as a child with my parents and sister. On our last trip(1986), my parents thought this would be our last trip together as a family. They even went all out and we stayed Poly concierge because of that.
After that trip our parents went back once alone, and I too went for my honeymoon. Well, who would have thought we would all go again in 1998, now with 2 husbands and 3 kids between us, and again in 2000 with yet another kid added to the group. My mother laughs everytime she says she thought that 1986 trip was our last family trip. :)
Hang in there, there is hope.

My baby is all grown up and my husband is Disney challenged  All of my trips are solo and I have to tell you that I love touring solo.

It's different than touring with with children, of any age, but I like it.

I know I loved taking Travis to WDW when he was little but I also love touring solo. Neither is better than the other, in my opinion.

It is rather like trying to compare apples and oranges. They are too different to compare, at least in my case.

I borrow children sometimes and take them to WDW (no grandchildren of my own) and I love doing that too.

I didn't help you one darned bit, did I? I just ramble on and on and on. I think it has something to do with carbohydrate deprivation
