My Baby Girl Is Turning 13-Time For Another Mom/Daughter WDW Trip!!

Oh wow American Idol looks interesting I couldn't have the experience maybe next time. I ate at 50's Primetime Cafe I loved it she was so funny..("No elbows on the table no whinning no complaining no fighting or pulling hair") Oh and my favorite quote "You put the table and I'll do the dishes" :lmao: :rotfl2: I had a blast I could tell you and Lauren did too.

50sPTC is a really fun dining experience when you get a CM that's really into it! We had fun.

We are very excited about doing the AI experience. In fact, we changed our dinner ADR at Flying Fish from 7:05pm to 7:45pm so that we can see the final AI show of the day and still have plenty of time to walk over to the Boardwalk. We've never been to the Boardwalk, so we are excited about going...and I would like to get over there a little early and just hang out.

Oh I can't wait to hear you report back on the last AI show Alan - I think it would be fun to a be a part of it. And don't worry about walking around the BW - there will still be stuff going on when you get out of dinner too!

Okay Kara - here it is. You have to MAKE Cammie do this in May. YOU SO HAVE TO!

I want a picture too! :snooty:

DON'T THINK SO! I was willing to make that sacrifice for my child; not willing to do it for a creepy internet friend!:lmao:

Hi Cammie! I've been enjoying your report and decided to come out of lurkdom to let you know how much I can relate to your Disney trip with a 13yr. old girl. I try to take DGD13 at least once a year and I'm sometimes amazed at how much our trips have changed from when she was a little girl. Fewer rope drops and character breakfasts and a lot more pm EMH's! But just as much (maybe more?) fun!

Oh, and the constant texting! :lmao: Last trip I finally said something to Haleigh about it and her response was "I know, I know...but do you know how hard it is to talk to just ONE person for A WEEK!" :rotfl: From that point on, I looked at it a little differently...and was just glad that she was still willing at her age to give up her friends to hang with her grandma for a week! :goodvibes

BTW, she won't do RnRC either!

:lmao: I'm cracking up over your DGD's response! Yeah, I think that's how Lauren felt too! And your Disney trips sound exactly like ours these days: we love to sleep in, but we can stay out until all hours! It's so sweet that you're able to take those trips together.

great update Cammie! I love the Animation Academy. Where was the Sound Stage kiosk? It sounds like a lot of fun and I definitely want to give it a try on our next visit. :thumbsup2

The Sound Stage was right across from the Sorcerer Mickey meet and greet. Honestly, we get a picture with that Mickey every year and I NEVER noticed all the stuff that was over there!

Yes we are and I am going to do my best to make it to the meet. I don't want to miss the mass Dis convergence on France. :rotfl:

The slushie kiosk won't know what hit them! I hope you can make. I'm so looking forward to meeting everyone!

ive read all your tr's and decided to come out of lurkdom.... excellent tr again

Welcome out of lurkdom!:) I'm glad you checked in and are enjoying my report!

Well you PROMISED me we're going on EE, and I'll go on SM in return- so once we get your feet wet, who knows what else Kara and I will be able to talk you into?!!!:scared1: :woohoo: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

This installment is mostly food porn, so if you don't want to drool, you might want to skip it.(although there are still some cute shots of Lauren!)

I last left off with Lauren and I departing DHS and heading over to the Boardwalk area for dinner.

One last shot of my baby girl in DHS:

It was almost 7pm and our ADRs at The Yachtsman weren't until 7:35. Since we had the time, I decided to spare my child the "horribly long walk" (her words) over there, and instead opted to wait for the boat.

Ms. Lazybones was very happy:

I did insist that we not get off at the BC/YC but instead get off at the BW - and then walk around. It's so pretty over there and I just love to walk around that lake!

We arrived at The Yachtsman right on time and were seated promptly.

Lauren ordered a Sprite:

I had a Pommegranite Martini:

Lauren was thrilled she had a birthday menu. But it wasn't personalized because I forgot to give them her name!:headache:

DSC04237.jpg

Soon after, the rolls, butter and roasted garlic arrived. These are soooo good! Seriously, the garlic spreads like butter!:
DSC04235.jpg

For dinner, Lauren ordered the 8oz.filet w/mashed potatoes & red wine sauce:

I had the NY Strip Steak w/peppercorn brandy sauce & potato gratin w/diamond white cheddar cheese:
DSC04239.jpg

I also ordered a glass of Jade Mountain Mourvedre (I had never heard of it; our wonderful CM Yun had recommended it.) Delicious!
DSC04240.jpg

Both Lauren and I REALLY enjoyed our steaks. They were cooked perfectly! But we weren't crazy about our potatoes. Lauren felt her mashed potatoes were too lumpy and not creamy enough. My potato gratin (and I can't believe I'm going to say this!) were too cheesy! I love my cheesy potatoes but this was just cheddar overload. Oh well - left more room for my steak!

We put in our dessert order but before they were served, Lauren received a special extra treat:

The birthday dessert was choc.mousse covered w/a choc.crumb topping. It was tasty, but she was saving herself for the dessert she REALLY wanted - the gelato trio w/fresh whipped cream, cherries, and chocolate sauce. Look at this thing!

Mine was just as impressive and delicious - the Bananas Napolean:

Oh.My.Goodness.

Both of these desserts were AMAZING!!! We were, once again, thrilled with our meal here. This is our second time eating at The Yachtsman and both times were great. And I have to give a shout out to the service - so friendly and attentive. This place was packed yet our CM was always around, and always had a smile on her face.

When we were finally done stuffing ourselves, we were on our way over to the BW bakery;(no we weren't interested in eating some more; just wanted to pick up something for breakfast the next day). We noticed that Illuminations was just starting so we stop on the BW bridge to watch......

NOW it was time to go to the bakery! I had two snack credits left and decided to pick up something for us to have for breakfast. We got a cinnamon roll, choc.chip muffin, and a refillable mug - which the new design is VERY cute, I might add!

Then it was out to the BW bus stop to get the bus to DTD - where we would make the short walk back to SSR.

Next installment............goodbye Saratoga Springs; hello Boardwalk Villas!

Well you PROMISED me we're going on EE, and I'll go on SM in return- so once we get your feet wet, who knows what else Kara and I will be able to talk you into?!!!:scared1: :woohoo: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Ha!Ha! I don't know about EE anymore. Kara got pretty banged up on that during her last trip. I'll hang out with Lonnie and hold your drinks!

you KNOW I don't have a problem with that!! :lmao:

I couldn't agree more. We've only been once, but we were very impressed. Our food was wonderful and it was the best service we received for the entire week. The servers were knowledgable, attentive, and made great recommendations. This is why we have chosen to go back to The Yachtsman Steakhouse on the last night of our May trip to celebrate our 15-year anniversary.

Oh yeah! :woohoo: I did it ALL this past weekend!!!! And I have the scars to prove it! And I'll do it again! Except for Mission Space as you'll see in my TR - although I do think I "entertained" the nice man who rode with us! :rotfl2:

Anyone up for Dinosaur???

Ha!Ha! I don't know about EE anymore. Kara got pretty banged up on that during her last trip. I'll hang out with Lonnie and hold your drinks!

I'm all better now, and it was worth it! I love EE!!!!

The food looks great and those desserts well amazing.:goodvibes Almost feel like booking the next flight to Orlando and go check out the restaurant:lmao: but I'll control myself :rolleyes1 . I haven't seen Illuminations that is a must do for my next trip.

Well I just spent the last hour reading through your report and I am now caught up! It is making me yearn for a Mother/daughter trip. (she(11) has 3 brothers though that would never allow that to happen)

It all looks so fun. And you are tempting me to try some new places. I can't wait to keep reading.
We are staying at the BWI in July(we stayed there last year for the first time- scary clown pool has kept us away:rotfl2: ) Oh but we loved it. Can't wait to go back. And I'll pass the time reading your report! Love it.

What a great day you two had! I love that Lauren "needed" to be in Epcot! :rotfl2:

The part with the computers and you two laughing and singing was so sweet! What great memories! :goodvibes

Yachtsmans looks SO GOOD! I am going to have to seriously consider it for December. I think Joe would go hog wild over that banana dessert.

And, she's texting! :rotfl:

Dinner was delish! As for Illuminations - it's a must-do! That's our favorite show in all of Disney!

Thanks for coming on board and catching up! And I guess that would be pretty hard to just take your daughter to WDW - you would have ALOT of explaining to do to the other kids! We love the BW - even the scary clown pool - although I will admit that it does freak me out at nighttime!

:lmao: Good spotting!

I'm so hungry all of a sudden. :confused3

Oh my gosh! I didn't even notice the phone on her lap! I swear, that girl can text faster than I blink! I'm so proud!

Hi,
I just caught up on your trip report and I love it!
First, I must say that I am now 23 years old. When I was 13 my mom took me on my very first Disney trip for my 13th birthday--just the two of us. Even 10 years later I remember the trip vividly. That trip also instilled in me my love and obsession with Disney. Since then I have taken several trips and each one reminds of the special trip I had with my mom. So I think that this trip report is especially touching and your daughter is one lucky little girl to have a mom like you!
Secondly, your enthusiasm for everything is just infectious. I also was is Disney from February 15, 2009-February 23rd, 2009 for my 23rd birthday and your report is making me want to return already!
I cannot wait for the rest of your report! Lauren is such a doll!

Oh, darn! I had been trying to decide between Yachtsman and Flying Fish for our next trip and FINALLY decided on FF. Now, after seeing those pics - and especially the desserts - I'm ready to change to Yachtsmans! :worship:

Lauren looks like she enjoyed her meal - and the company - despite the under-the-table-texting! Just look at it as life training. When she gets older, she'll definitely be a great multi-tasker! :)

I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!!:scared1: :lmao:

EE is fantastic!!! Especially if you can ride it at night during EMH in the front car! Don't deprive yourself of one of the best rides on property...just look at all the little kids in line and tell yourself "If they can ride it I can too"

Oh you're so sweet! It's so nice to read what you wrote! I do think too that Lauren will always cherish the memories from our trips - we really do have a special time together and it's such a different experience from when we're there for a family trip. I just hope we can continue to do them for many more years - with her taking over the financial responsibility of the trip, of course!

ps - Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you got some extra special attention while you were there celebrating with the Mouse!

Oh, darn! I had been trying to decide between Yachtsman and Flying Fish for our next trip and FINALLY decided on FF. Now, after seeing those pics - and especially the desserts - I'm ready to change to Yachtsmans! :worship:

That's a tough call - I've heard great things about FF! I haven't eaten there since 2000 but I'm dying to get there again real soon. But, I"m telling ya - you would not be disappointed in the Yachtsman!

OMG!!! It is NOT that scary!!! AT ALL!!!! It's the best ride ever!!! Lonnie went on twice and she's afraid of the DUMBO ride!!!!:rotfl:

Too. Much. DisPressure!

I know you all will probably get me on it - but I can't guarantee I'll like it! But I promise to give it a try! And - at night does sound pretty!

(and oh yeah guys - thanks for making me feel like an even bigger baby by pointing out the small children who go on it!)

It. Will. Be. Fun.

Yay. Dis. Pressure. !!!!!!:dance3: :dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
