I HATE hiring and training someone! SHe's been here the longest...it's an entry-level position and she was promoted when I was promoted and I'm not shocked she's leaving...just whining. I hope the crop of interviewees are decent.
 
May I make a (highly impertinent) suggestion? Pick a long DIS thread, and print one page of posts, preferably sans names or sigs. Give it to each interviewee as an editing test.

Might I ask what sort of publication you work at and where the job is based?

My dad is an editor in NJ as well...but he's over 70 and works PT these days. I'll tell you though...he's so bright and good at his job, he catches ANY mistake. He's got the eyes of a 20 YO.
