I know that I would never be able to find something like this ever again. I found an unopened box on Lego Mindstorm Droid. I bought my DH this for the Christmas of 1999 for $99.99 at Target.

It was $2.00. :woohoo: That's right 2 bucks! My nephew is going to drop his jaw. It still has the sticker for Frys Electronics on it for $99.95.

I wish I could find an American Girl or two there for that price.

Happy Hunting.

Congratulations! I enjoy shopping at goodwill and other thrift shops. It is all about the thrill of the hunt. I get such an adrenaline rush when I find great items for next to nothing. :)

I'd say my luckiest find was one of those wooden carved German Christmas carousel things. There are blades at the top, and there are holders for candles. When the candles are lit, the heat spins the blades at the top so that the tiers inside spin. I don't remember what they are called.

They sell for big money at the Epcot Germany pavillion in the Christmas shop. I wanted one when we went to Germany but I didn't want to spend that much money.

I found one at Salvation Army for $5! It is in perfect condition. :bitelip:

our local goodwill has been saving all the "good stuff" for black friday. we went in the other week and saw a big starwars lego set on a shelf for 6.99 and when DH when to reach for it, the lady working there grabbed it and put it in a bin saying that they were saving it for black friday. Kind of ticked us off since it was out on the sales floor (and was something DS wanted for xmas). So....I'll be there when the store opens on friday and the set better be there or I will find someone to raise a stink to.

that's ridiculous! A sale is a sale...she probably wanted it.

I wouldn't have stood for that!!!

Ok, mt2. Would you call me, please, next time you head over there??? You always find the best stuff. When I go in there I find junk. What's up with that???

That is funny you mention AG dolls - I just found an original Pleasant Company doll there that was in excellent condition and paid 3.99 for it. It was just sort of thrown on the shelf and at first I thought it was a target doll until I picked it up. My dd loves it and even took the doll she wanted off her Christmas list because she now has this one. Great find OP!

WOW!!! That is amazing! I think I would have fainted and then someone else would have grabbed it and bought it while I was out cold!

last year I found a leapster max still in the box unopened for $5.
ds6 got that for xmas last yr,and in the store they were going for $99

At the thrift store today I found an American Girl doll for 59 cents. She was naked, but I can buy clothes for her!!!

This and the other American Girl find are the ones I would love to find too. I just love finding these treasures.

Happy Hunting.

Elizk - it was just an accident I was in there. I was leaving the dentist office after getting a filling fixed. I was supposed to go home but the car decided to go to Goodwill instead.

Awesome find!
There must be some American Girl luck in the air. I found one at the Goodwill outlet for $1, and one at a flea market for $3 recently.

I found a pair of MaryJane Crocs for DD6 the other day for $2!!!! I was over the moon! And also a St. John Knit suit for $6 (which probably sold for about $1,200 new). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the thrift stores!!!!

I found a whole bunch of Lego sets (Mindstorm, 6 pack Bionicles, etc.) at our church thrift store a few weeks ago. It seemed like someone had just gotten rid of their entire Lego collection. Some were opened, but some were unopened. I paid between $1-$3 for each, and I gave them to DH (the Lego freak, LOL!). My ultimate find that day was a Robosapien for $3, though. DH is a robotics hobbyiest (sp?), so he has been doing all kinds of hacks on this robot. It's hilarious! I love the thrift store!!

I never find anything but junk at our goodwill, what is up with that?

I think the trick is to go often, dig deep and know what you are looking at.

My best thift store find was a little purse. The purse cost me a $1 and was nothing special...but there was a $27 TJ Maxx gift card in the pocket!

This is 100% true! :thumbsup2

I had a lucky find yesterday - a new breadmachine for $10. It didn't include the manual so I was taking a chance. I googled and found it in a pdf file. I tested it out last night, and I don't know what I ever did without it. I make our bread homemade, but this machine out performs my old one. I only thought the bread I used to make was fantastic. :rotfl:

The Goodwills around here have a 7 day return policy, and I do return items that don't work if I paid more than $5. The GW stores where we used to live tested all items, and they would mark the tag with the working condition. They also did not have a return policy but I had a good idea prior to purchasing what I was actually getting.
