Talked to my brother tonight. Don't really understand all of the details. I just know that Bryan has been sick for over a week.
Has been running a high fever (it was 107 at one point
). Has been tested for strep 4 times with negative results. Had visited the ER 2 times.
Had a blood test that showed white blood cells twice the normal amounts. Was put on antibiotics.
Became lethargic last night. Back to the ER today. White blood cells now three times normal numbers. They ran a CAT scan, did a spinal tap, took e-rays. He is being treated with IV antibiotics and fluids.
He is in the ICU because his blood pressure is low and he is being treated medicinally for that and it has to be monitored. They say that the low blood pressure is caused by septic-something.
No real diagnosis yet.
He is in the best possible medical facility for children in our state - Pittsburgh's Children's Hospital. So I know that they are doing the very best for him. But his parents are scared. And so are we - the rest of his family.
Please say a prayer or think a positive thought for Bryan - and for his parents too.
Thank you so much...
