Let me start off saying that we always let my children dress as their favorite character at the parks. Well in years previous the girls have always wanted to be Tinkerbell, Cinderella, Jasmine, etc. This year the 5.5 year old wants to be Mulan ( a little strange perhaps but no biggie) but my 4.5 year old is INSISTING on being Violet what should I do? :confused3

Who is Violet?

Edited to Add: D'oh! Never mind. All I could think of was Violet Beauregarde from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. Our Incredibles DVD went to my mom's house and has not come back, so as a result I have only seen it once in its entirety and tend to forget their names.

Carry on!

Hmmmm...your daughters want to dress as two of the strongest female characters in the Disney line up. I say ROCK ON!!!!

We saw a whole family of kids dressed as the Incredibles. I thought the kid dressed as Edna was the best.

At least your girls still want to be Disney characters! And as nuttylawprofessor said, they are 2 strong females!!! DD has, in the past year, decided that she no longer likes any of the Disney Princesses, and wants to be either Frankenstein or a vampire for Halloween this year :sad2: . She has always worn "cute" girly costumes before- either a Disney Princess, a 50's girl, or a glamorous witch. I am not looking forward to pictures of a scary little monster this year. Oh, well, I guess she is growing up and asserting herself.

Ah Violet is my dd's favorite(but she is 9) She went as Violet for Halloween last year. It actually is a great costume for November because she will be warm! Loving that your DD's are relating to the strong girls in Disney movies. I love Mulan!

My DD who is almost 4 just loves to play pretend she is Violet, she picked the Violet PJ's from Disney store and my husband and I were smiling a lot yesterday watching her and son play superheros. I would let her dress up as Violet, not as common and I'm sure she'll look so cute.

I know it is kind of cute but I just know that my husband is gonna be like where are my freakin' princesses and kinda embarrassed because all the other girls will be princesses an ours will be a warrior and a super hero in NOVEMBER. LOL :rotfl2:

Every Halloween I try to convince one of my girls to be Mulan. I love her and her costume is beautiful.

I think it sounds awesome!

Why is Mulan a little strange? I would think that would be a fun costume to dress in! My 3yo wants to go as Kim Possible...maybe why youre stuck on the Violet thing is b/c she's not a princess, but theyre the "new" girl heroines! I would let them! Id let my 3yo be KP if I could get a darned costume here!

I would never care what the other kids are wearing, I would let her dress as Violet. Actually, my daighter did last year and it was the easiest costume ever. She used the disney pjs, which she wore all year afterward. Quite practical. Ans she was happy.

I agree, let her do it. I kind of always wanted my blonde little DD to want to be cinderella at least one time but she never did. I don't try to lead her one way or another. I just want her to have fun. For christmas I got a snow white costume and a mulan costume off ebay. I know she will love the mulan and I cannot wait to see her wear it. It's all for fun. Isn't that what Disney is all about?

What has the fact that you are traveling in November got to do with anything? Your daughter will certainly be warmer in a Violet costume than she would be in a Tinkerbell outfit.

I don't see anything strange about a little girl wanting to dress up as Mulan or Violet.

I certainly would no be embarrassed to have my girls choose those costumes, and I really can't understand why anyone else would find it embarrassing.

Why not! Disney is the one place that kids can dress up all year round & people won't look at them funny! :woohoo:

Sounds like a good deal to me.. I've seen kids dressed as everything at the parks. I don't think there would be a problem. I always say just use the rule of thumb that they tell you during MNSSHP. Long as the costume dosen't interfere with your safety or the safety of others in the parks or on the rides then have at it.....Hope you and your family have a great time..

Leaving for our annual Oct trip the 1st week of Oct.. :cloud9: :tinker: :tink:
