My 1st PTR/TR: An unexpected trip, Disney in December 4 *Day 3 6/5 Illuminations!*

That is an awesome picture of the castle all lit up! I can't wait to see that.

I can't wait to hear about some of your plans! :woohoo:

Very fun update! I can relate to the sad faces! It is sooo sad to be leaving the park on your last day! :sad1: You almost get the feeling that you're leaving behind a dear friend! Disney is great for creating special memories...:lovestruc
Yes! I totally agree with you about the castle and those lights! Absolutely amazing! I can't believe you will see them again.... if you have extra time in MK maybe you could take pictures of the castle from different angles when it is all lit up. They really outdid themselves!! :wizard:
So now we get to hear your plans for this trip. And it's coming really quickly! I hope you don't get too overwhelmed with school, not much longer....
Aw, thanks! Disney..:cloud9: there will never be too much time spent at Disney. I will DEFINITELY take different angles of the castle, I'll mark that one down on my to-do list, castle pics for you and lights for LL. Check! :thumbsup2

So pretty...I can't imagine what they're next creation for castle decorations could be! I don't think they can outdo themselves ever again! :goodvibes

First order of business...IS IT REALLY DECEMBER?! WOW!!!

So.. today marked 2 weeks before our trip! I've been making lists (as usual!) of what all I have left to try and ease the end of semester stress. Tomorrow is my last official day of teaching my class, well technically all I have to do is play jeopardy with them (and I made cookies for everyone) since I felt bad that I gave my class goody bags and Eric's class didn't get anything. See I teach a lab session. Eric is the lecture professor and has 1/2 of the class in his lab and I have the other 1/2 of the kids. Thankfully my kids are the better ones (less noisy, don't make me talk over them). So, thank god after tomorrow, all that's left now is Stats proposal, Stats final and thesis stuff before we leave.

But let's see...Day 1 plans 12/15/08
We're boarding our dog..by the way did I ever posts pics of our little one??!! Ok, let's take a break then and show a few!
She's an Italian Greyhound, she'll be 1 on Jan 2nd. Her name is Riley.

Here's the 1st pic I ever saw of her. This is her at 4 weeks old

She flew in from Kentucky and we picked her up at BWI. She was 10 weeks old and only 3 lbs, this was back in March 2008.

Cute huh?! We love her to death. She certainly doesn't underestimate her greyhound nature, she's fast. She's 7.5 lbs now. She unfortunately did have an accident back in May (she jumped out of our babysitters arms) and she broke her leg, but thankfully we have insurance for her, so it didn't dent our bank account too badly.
But, with that..let's move on.

Ok, so finals end on Thurs 12/11, we're putting the dog in boarding at our vet on 12/12 and are heading down to VA to watch Dbf's sister Kiki graduate from ODU on 12/13. Then we'll relax with his family for 2 days before we fly out on Mon 12/15. We have a 7:15 flight out of Norfolk and we land in MCO at 9:20 am!! I'm still so freaking excited that I found such an early flight, nonstop for such a great price. But, we're catching the Magical Express (first time ever) and heading to All Star Sports. We got the preferred room, or rather that's all they had left, so I believe we're staying in the Surf's Up section, and considering us (biologists) that's the building we would have liked to have anyway. Surf's up is supposed to be right next to the food court and we also requested a king bed. So, arriving I'm guessing sometime around 10:30ish, whether we can check in or not really doesn't matter I guess. We're going to stop at the food court, split a sandwich and head off to MK! First stop will be tomorrowland, getting fast passes for either Space Mountain or Buzz and then riding TTA to soak it all in :cloud9:
We decided on Cosmic Ray's, we LOVE that place (I've also always eaten there with my mom when we used to go in middle and high school) and we're having the ribs and chicken combination each. Yum. Then, not sure what..the usual I guess..Peter Pan, Pooh, BTMR, Splash, Pirates...etc. Probably getting something at Columbia Harbor House for dinner. Anyone eaten there yet? I was leaning toward the BLT salad and Dbf the Tuna sandwich. Watching Spectromagic and Wishes. I think it's EMH that night too. So, it's kinda all up in the air, but those are the basics!

Oh my gosh!!!! Riley is adorable!! I am a HUGE dog lover... we have a yellow lab named Tanner. She is 5 1/2 and full of energy. I can't believe Riley flew up from Kentucky, how does that happen? Does someone come with them or are they in a crate... how do you get them from the airlines?
It is putting me in fits reading your first day plans! It's so much fun to think about where to go and what to eat... that was always exciting to think about but you are actually going to do it!!! :cool1:

Riley is adorable!! Is that how big she will stay or will she get bigger? Too cute!

I can't believe your trip is here in two short weeks!!

I LOOOVE your dog! I love greyhounds!

Your plans sound so perfect for arrival and I'm so excited for you! :yay: :cheer2:

Thanks for the Riley love! The closest breeder was in Kentucky, so we weren't really able to pick her up (~ 9 hr drive). They can usually do it both ways. I could have either flew there and put her as a carry on under my seat, the breeder could have done the same thing, or, which is the one we chose, she put her in cargo in her small cage and we picked her up at the cargo pickup (like where the packages come to for Fedex). They take all the live animals off first as soon as the plane lands so they're not on there long. But there wasn't a direct flight to BWI, so she flew to Atlanta and had a layover there, I always think she was such an experienced flier before I ever got her!

Thanks! She'll stay that big, or that small rather! she's between 7.5-8 lbs right now. They can range anywhere from 6 to 20 lbs so we got a little girl :lovestruc

Thanks! :cutie: We love her too! Sometimes she gets away with things due to her cuteness factor :rotfl: We're starting to get excited though, our arrival is so close now!

Did anyone else see the Samantha Brown Disney Christmas special last night/this morning?!! It was on the travel channel. I LOVE her! They filmed it right around Thanksgiving and everything was up, it was so nice to see everything that we saw last year..and....we get to see it all in 10 days!!!

If you didn't get to catch it though, try and see it! She splits her time between WDW and DL, but she goes to all the resorts, checks out all the decorations in the parks, the trees, the castle lighting. Oh gosh, so amazing!!

Did you see the real family that inspired the Osbourne family lights??!? That was ridiculous! I didn't think that all those ACTUAL lights came from in front of their house and they even bought the houses on either side of them so that the father could decorate more! :rotfl: Oh the campsites! Now that was cool! Especially the X-mas golf cart they decorated :thumbsup2

I did know that about the Osbourne Family Lights, completely crazy but awesome. :lmao:

I love the campsites. I've heard if you take the sleigh ride around Ft. Wilderness it's awesome to see all the decorated campsites.

I knew it was based off of a family, but I guess you just can't see an actual house with all those moving decorations and over 3 million lights. That's ok though, Dbf always thought that they were talking about Ozzy and his family..shh! :rotfl2:

Oh I know, I let him have his cake for a little while though. Thankfully Samantha Brown was the one that cleared that all up for him

I missed the Samantha Brown Disney shows!!! :sad2: I will check for it to come again, they usually do. Should I admit that I thought the Osborne lights were Ozzy Osborne too?? ;) I was glad to read about the real family on AllEars.net. I couldn't figure out why Ozzy would have lights at Disney but I figured that Aerosmith was there so maybe he jumped onboard too!! :rotfl: Good grief! I need help!
You go in 10 days!!!! I am so excited for you guys!! Are you getting your suitcases out? Organizing your outfits? Collecting your stuff? :thumbsup2

HAHAHA :rotfl2: Oh my gosh girl, TOO funny about the Aerosmith thing :lmao:
I JUST finished my proposal for Stats last night, so all I have left is my final next Thurs. All our snacks, camera, batteries and such are out. Outfits..we printed all our DISigns out, tshirts are together, just not ironed yet, that'll be this weekend. So, once they're done they'll go straight into the suitcase. Gosh, I am getting so excited though!! You gotta the SB Special, scope that Travel Channel out, I would think it would be on again sometime this week! :thumbsup2see

LL! You're the one that has TWO Disney trips this coming year AND you just got back from one! I'm seriously the one that's jealous! ;)
Yeah I know but still, you get to go in 10 days aren't I allowed to be a little jealous? :rotfl:
