Our second car with 173000 miles on it it is now officially dead. I was hoping for it to last until our Toyota Sienna van is paid of in 15 months. now We have to go out and buy another car.. two car payments .. grrr we just raided our savings to redo our master bath.. grrrr. We are looking for midsize car and do not want to buy used because we rack up miles, related to our commute to work. plus in 3 years our oldest DS will be driving and we may want to to give him the car when college starts. This is just a rant.....

I feel your pain. :(

We just did a new starter on DH's SUV and now the Alternator on the van appears to be shot. I'm still hanging in there with just fixing them however. I really hate car payments.

It's a FORD, for goodness sakes!! The poor thing, with 173,000 miles, doesn't owe you a thing...LOL!!! ;)

We've had really good luck with our Toyota Camry (it has tons of miles, and it's still going strong). Sorry you've got to get a new car--two payments are a bummer!

We just had to replace the head gasket on our 1998 Dodge Caravan. That would be our LEASED minivan. The one where the lease is up in just 8 months. Nothing like pouring money into a vehicle that you aren't going to keep. I definitely feel your pain.

It's so frustrating, isn't it? Sorry to hear your second car has passed over

Too funny.. My Dw and I went to 3 dealers today.. Honda, toyota, and nissan.. we decided to buy the Accord. So I went to carsdirect.com selected the color, selected the trim, and just added side air bags, appplied for a loan. on line.. and viola!! we will get the car in two days... easier than buying my computer on line..lol
I spent like 6 months researching every magazine article ordered invoice info for 4 differnt vans. when I bought the Toyota 4 years ago.. now I bought a Car in 10 minutes.LOL

Dang, and I'm complaining about my car being old (1994 Ford Taurus -- blown a head gasket once, too  ) at 106000 miles!

EEK! I have a '95 Taurus...should I start saving up for a new head gasket??? :earseek:

We had a 1995 Windstar, that blew TWO gaskets... Joe--it may be too late now, but we complained enough, we got both of the headgaskets repaired one for fREE, and one for a $200 deductible or something like that.

Between two gaskets and seven or 14 engine sensors, we got rid of it!

My DH's 1990 Geo died about a month ago (125K), and we are doing fine with one car... don't want/need two car payments.!

Just checked the garage floor this morning after DW drove off in our newly repaired leased van. Now there's oil on the floor where once there was only antifreeze. Methinks the van needs to make a return trip to our friendly neighborhood Dodge dealership. :(
