My #1 Disney Tip!

Another thing for moms with girls to try - shopping in the boys department. My daughter wears her brothers hand me downs and does fine. Until they get hips (when you can start shopping women's petites for them), boys clothes fit fine.

BTW, seems pretty siziest to say "if you are trim you can dress

like a slut, but a busty overweight woman can't."

Quite the opposite. I think it is funny how it is only pointed out as inappropriate when someone is large. That's my point. Slender women jog all over town and wear sports bras to the grocery, but, hey, god forbid a curvy woman wear a tank top at disney.

But the boys department is a good place to get more covering clothing.

I sort of understand the wearing of bikini tops in WDW. It is hot!!! however there are decent sized bikini tops and those string ones which you would not want to wear in a water park....The string ones should be kept for poolside sunbathing.

I would not like it if my family were queing for a ride and a large chested lady with string bikini was hunched up next to my DH:mad:  :earseek: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I have two daughters aged 7 and 5 and would not let them wear trashy clothes. I like them to wear t shirts and shorts that are not too short or summer dresses. I get them a lot of embroidered or floral stuff. Quite girly and traditional. I disapprove of teenage girls walking around in string bikini tops.

I found the perfect tops to wear in WDW are the tankini tank tops. They even have hidden bra shelf support. These are extremely comfortable in the Florida heat and hold everything in nicely.:earsgirl: :sunny:

I think if your a person of a young age and it's for something like PI,something like a cute tank or halter top is ok

Also try hannaanderrson.com she makes the most soft, comfy swedish cotton knit clothing and its all very decent and washes and washes and washes and never stains!!!!!!!

Yep, some of the outfits are pretty unbelievable!.

For moms looking for basic, decent girslwear, try landsend.com a Wisconsin manufacturer.

Sears owns Lands End now and some LE clothes are being phased into their stores.

I guess you all have helped me see that I'm not offending people. I don't wear a string bikini top or anything outlandish. I do have a 9 year old son who is at the peak of discovering things. I will agree that although the low waistbands can be flattering standing up (on certain people) I hate when you sit down and can see what a woman is sporting underneath! And I think that overweight people can be equally cautions and wear less but still look decent. I think the real problem is that some people must just own really funky mirrors!

Can you get a girl older than 5 or 6 to wear Hannas? We used to love Gymboree for the same reason, but even if mine (now 9) could fit into their stuff, she wouldn't wear it anymore.

Therein lies the problem. The stuff we like is usually too "babyish" for them. The stuff they like is too trashy for us. Finding the happy balance is the hardest thing. I was at Old Navy today and did great. Nice modest bathing suits with matching "boarder" shorts, a couple of nice cotton drwstring capris, tee shirts, and jeans shorts. Got a BIG shopping bag full for under $150. DD is happy - Old Navy is cool - Mommy is happy - DD is covered and I still have money in the bank!

ps: Those low riders make me giggle. I was behind a woman at DD's school assembly who was in a pair of khaki capri low riders and I could not take my eyes off the bright red thong she had underneath. If she only knew what we could see, she would have been mortified. Moral of the story - if you are tempted to buy those kinds of pants, sit down in the dressing room, bend forward and check out what's in the mirror behind you!

My DH made a comment that I thought said it all. We were at the movie theater after seeing Finding Nemo and this young girl with hip hugger jeans and a crop talk walked by. His comment was:

Why do they bother wearing stuff like that when one step she's pulling up her pants and the next step she's yanking down her top.

I don't think there are many women/ladies/girls truly comfortable in inappropriate clothing.

My tip would be to have some e-mail addresses of friends/family written down somewhere. I've noticed a lot of posts that say that there are e-mail stations after certain rides that allow you to send video e-mails. I personally haven't memorized my friends e-mail addresses but it would be fun to send them one.

Get with the program! Disney supports semi-nudity with half naked days. These are special days in the parks. Banana hammocks and bippi tops only!

The days for 2003 are as follows:

February 29, April 31, June 31, September 31, November 31.

Plenty of pictures are hanging in Pete's Garage!

I haven't read all the pages of this post yet, but this is what amazes me: Moms who buy lingerie for their daughters. I work at a department store and I have seen Moms buy thong underwear for their preteen daughters. What on earth are they thinking? Hopefully, no boys are ever going to see their underwear, so why does it have to be sexy?

I think it was Abercrombie and fitch that was selling children's underwear, down to a size 7, that had the words "too hot to handle" and "eye candy" on them.

I was like WHAT????? for a 7 year old??? Who would actually buy that except maybe Humbert Humbert.

What my DD age 14 was embrassed to see was at the water rides ie Kali River Ride all the older Women in white "see clear thru shorts when wet" at the Orlando parks. The restrooms at the ends of these rides were full of them trying to blow dry their shorts. And their underware choices weren't much better ranging from full coverage but shocking pink or zebra stripes to red thongs to totally bare bottoms!!

Dd came away with a whole new appriatation for full length mirrors and checking the rear view!!
