Going on an 11 night trip Nov 5-16. First 4 nights staying at CR with just me and my 8 yo son then moving to a house to join 12 other family members.

My son and I will be watching the first Christmas party fireworks from the 4th floor deck at CR. We will be at MK a total of 4 times during our trip, so plenty of time to get everything done.

All along I was thinking of going to the party on our 2nd to last night but now I’m wondering if it’s really worth it. No one in the rest of our group would be attending with us. The characters aren’t too important and with us having so much time to do all the rides previously is it worth it to go? I would LOVE to see the parade but don’t know if my son would last through the 11 pm one which would be preferred viewing... what would you do?

I'd pass. It's insanity at those parties. The crowds are ridiculous. We have given up on going again.
I think it was fun to do, but we've done it a few times and it isn't worth it to us anymore.
You will find plenty of people on here who will say it's definitely worth going. You'll really need to make that decision for yourself.

If you think there’s a chance your son won’t make it I’d say skip it. If you can’t stay the whole time it’s not worth all that money. I’ll never forget being next to a couple with their 5 year old son fast asleep in the stroller as the parade was coming. The father kept trying to shake him awake saying I spent all this money you have to get up. The kid opened his eyes a couple times then immediately would fall right back to sleep.

So this would be the 11/8 party, right? That’s party #1, so typically that means every blogger/media type is out and about. There’s a brand new fireworks show, so there will be extra emphasis on the hub crowds (which are already pretty stout on a party night anyway because of the string of castle lighting, stage shows, parade, fireworks, etc).

My DS is 9 and it’s sort of our ‘thing’ to do the parties together - love being just two people in the park and we can make fun memories. But I’m a little leery of saying “go for out” for party #1. Any other date, I’d be “heck yeah” - but if you do go, just keep managed expectations (in my opinion).

On the other end of things, CR is a great place to watch fireworks, as you currently have planned.

I’m taking my 7 year old daughter, who knows the Magic Kingdom well, and any advice for how to approach the party night? We are doing a MK day a few days earlier so should we view the party night as less of a “ride day” and focus on the parade with a scattering of rides?

Thinking of focusing no the second parade and perhaps using slightly reduced ride times during the time people are watching the first parade?

Thanks everyone for your input! I was thinking of going to the November 14th party. For now, I think I am going to forget it. I don't think the price is worth it for just the parade, since we will be spending so much time at MK on other days. I will see how it goes when I am there, I can always buy tickets when I am down there if I change my mind. Thanks!
