MVMCP - Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know...

Has anyone been able to buy MVMCP tickets at the AP discounted price for the newly expanded discount dates.
When I go on the passholder site all that they offer me are the original discount dates which is 3 or 4 dates for this month and dates during the first week of December.
Do I need to call?

We always go to Disney during Spring Break and this will be our first time going to the MVMCP on Tuesday and seeing all the Christmas decorations! I can't wait!:santa::cheer2:

Hi :)

We go to both parks too, but we have never been to either park at Christmas time. The way I figure it is if we are going to go to the trouble of a trip all the way across the country at a special time of year, it has to be worth trying MVMCP at least once. As far as the best days, from what I understand the parties are usually not so busy early in December...but I would guess the the 1st and 3rd might be better than the 4th? Maybe someone with more experience can help us out. :goodvibes

I'd love to hear opinions about how crowded the 4th will be! My oldest and I are going for a very short trip this year and I really want to attend the party - but the only one we can make is on the 4th. Will it be completely unbearable since it's a Friday? I know Pop Warner starts right around here too, so I'm wondering about that....

Is there a list of characters that are out (when & where) during the party this year?

We'll be there a month from today, can't wait!!

I hate to be a wet blanket, but at the price Disney is charging my only tip on the Christmas party is to avoid it! For any of you that do go I thank you for stimulating the economy.

Your Welcome :goodvibes....it is so funny that you said that because when we were in Disney in March I could of sworn that the economy was looking better for the 10 days that we were there, but as soon as we got home, it all plummeted again :rotfl:

I have never been to MVMCP and have a few questions. Hopefully I am not repeating something that has already been answered. The party will only be happening on our day or arrival so I am reluctant to go, knowing we will all be very tired from the drive down but I hate to pass it up. Here are my questions: Do you have to buy park admission in additon to the party tickets if you are only going to the park for the party? When is the castle decorated in ice? We will be there from 11/20 to 11/28, will we have an opportunity to see the castle in ice if we don't attend MCMCP?

Thanks in advance!
Sonya

1. No, you do not. All you need is the party ticket.

2. Yes, you can see it any day of the week. They do the lighting ceremony every night BEFORE the start of the party. It really has nothing to do with the party actually.

We went to the MVMCP on the 13th and had a blast. Much more enjoyable than last year, when we went on the night of the last party. The crowd Friday night was much more manageable. Little or no wait for most of the rides we were interested in (I have a 3 year old, so it was mostly Fantasyland for us!). The only thing with any wait at all was Dumbo, and it was maybe 10 minutes.

The characters we saw were: Alice, Tweedle Dee/Dum, Queen of Hearts, Donald at his tree stand, Scrooge McDuck, Christmas Belle & the Beast, and Snow White & her prince. The ladies Tremaine were dancing at Ariel's grotto. These were all in Fantasyland at various times. We didn't venture much out of that area, lol. The parade was great, just like last year. A true highlight. The fireworks were gorgeous. I love Christmas music, so having them set to that was outstanding.

Hot chocolate, sugar cookies with Christmas colored sprinkles, apple juice and apples were available. Not much open in the way of actual food that night though. We ate at the place in Tomorrowland and it was packed. Probably our longest wait was to get some chicken, lol.

Thanks so much for the wonderful review. Sounds like you guys had a great time! we're going next month for what was supposed to be a surprise trip for the kids but we couldn't wait and told them yesterday. :woohoo:They are beyond thrilled! :woohoo: They had me on the Internet all afternoon looking for pictures and trying to find out which characters would be around. You post really helped!

Your review sounds almost exactly like our night, we were there on the 12th! :) We pretty much stuck to toontown and fantasy land and saw all the same characters, we didn't really venture past fantasy land except to watch the parade in Liberty Square. We also visited the fairies, the wait was only about 30 minutes at around 10:30. It was just the usual meet and greet, nothing special for christmas with them. I was hoping Tink would be dressed for Christmas! :confused3 We also really enjoyed the dance party at Cosmic Rays and the Enchanted Christmas Storytime with Belle!

Hmmmmmm, just saw this blurb on the AP site:

"*Passholder discount rates available when tickets are purchased in advance for the following event nights: 11/10/09, 11/12/09, 11/13/09, 11/17/09, 11/19/09, 12/6/09, 12/8/09."

So, our night of Dec 13 is not included for the AP discount - IF you advance purchase the tickets? That doesn't seem right.

Am I reading this wrong?

I saw some folks mentioned the discounted dates have been expanded but I can't find a list of new dates anywhere. I can tell you that we just ordered tix for Dec 15 and were offered the DVC discount even though that date was not originally listed as a discounted night. I wish I would have known about the military discount first though!

If you don't mind me asking, where did the above AP info come from?
The blog link that was posted earlier said:

"Passholder and Disney Vacation Club Discounts: Only available for the following dates: Nov 10, 12, 13, 17, 19; Dec 6, 8

Adults $52.19
Children 3-9 $45.80"

We already purchased our tickets for Dec 13 (and only got an advance purchase price - no AP discount for Dec 13), but I am gonna call tomorrow - I'd love to get an AP credit for the lower price!

$52.19 is $49.00 (plus tax). Both posters paid the same price overall.

Here's a question I haven't seen discussed yet...I read in Jack Spence's blog that there is a $29.95 special holiday photo package available mentioned on the MVMCP map, but he didn't know the details. Can anyone fill us in?

I apologise if this has already been addressed elsewhere in the thread, I looked but didn't see it.

Does anyone have a strategy they could recommend for seeing Mickey and Minnie at MVMCP?

I remember with the P&P parties Captain Jack was the big draw and at MNSSHP everyone wants to see the seven dwarves, so people were recommending to join those queues before the party even started. Seems like Mickey and Minnie are big draws/get huuuuge queues at MVMCP, so would people recommend being in their queue before 7? Do they change into their Christmas outfits promptly at 7? Are their queues temporarily closed before the parties?

If anyone has any ideas/info about this I'd really appreciate it, thank you in advance.

Can someone list the various entertainment throughout the park besides rides and how many times each event takes place?

Parade
fireworks
what shows?
characters
dance parties

Also what restaurants are open?

Thank you!

Are the dance parties continuous, or do they have scheduled times?

 I am soooooooo looking forward to the dance parties again:banana:

The dance parties are continuous in fact the DJ also lets you know when the parades and Wishes are about to begin
