MVMCP reviews from 2004 event....

I was also there last year on the 12/9. I couldn't believe how crowded it was. Even though I absolutely loved the fireworks show and the special ending, I was very disappointed with the whole experience. We never saw any snow, too crowded to get our picture taken and the fantasyland ride waits were horrendous. Last year, the cost expenditure wasn't that significant because we just didn't purchase a day on our pass for that day (they do let you in at 4:30 p.m.); with the new ticket system being so reasonable to add on days to your pass, it's now a significant cost to your vacation to add it on. BUT, I think the MVMCP is like childbirth. Everyone (ladies, of course) should experience it at least once. :rotfl:

We were there last year on Tuesday, December 7th and I thought it was crowded. We never rode any rides and spent our time getting our picture taken, getting hot chocolate and watching the parade and fireworks. I'm glad we did it once and wouldn't be too sad if we didn't do it again. My parents had a great time though and bought tickets for the family to go again this year, so to them it was worth it. :teeth:

It is definitely fun to take in the atmosphere and to see it snow on Main Street! :sunny: Have a great time if you go! :wizard:

We went twice last year, once with DD and once without so we could ride the big kid rides. Very early on the night we went alone was nice but that may have been because we were already in the parks and we actually on some of the "last" rides of the regular day. By 8.30 or 9pm it was very crowded.

The second night we went, with DD, it was very crowded almost from the get go. Long, long lines for everything, even during the parades. We were disappointed and agreed that while it was nice to, we wouldn't spend the money again.

I have been to WDW during the time between T'day and Christmas and it was wonderful, low crowds and short lines. Unfortunately, I think the word is out and the crowds have been increasing every year. I think I read that WDW is on to this and changed the "Value" season in accordance with attendance being up.

ETA: Just for comparison, we were there on a Tues and Thurs relatively early in Dec....in fact, we were there on 12/7 too! That was the problem, it was all the crazy DIS people gumming up the lines! :p

This year we are going in late Jan, having had a great trip during that time before and we are looking forward to the quiet!

I am totally freaking out, now. We are going on 12/6 and I am so excited, I know it will be somewhat crowded, but df and I both don't do well with wall to wall people! This is going to be my first MVMCP and I have high expectations that it is going to be really fantastic. This is going to be early in our trip and I don't want it to be a bad experience to start off the trip with. Hopefully with 12/6 being a Tuesday it won't be that bad.

We did the Night of Joy last year (b/c tix were $12) and it was dead, we got to ride HM 4 times in a row without getting off, and Buzz Lightyear, too. We only watched one concert and that wasn't all that crowded either. I was hoping that MVMCP was going to be similar to that, just a little more crowded. Oh well, at least I'll be at WDW.

we always go to MVMCP and MNSSHP the first sunday they are available. last year, it was twice as busy at the Xmas party. wait until the end of your night for the pictures.

Disney must be selling more tickets for this event. I have been several times in the past on nights that were "sold out” and even then the park was not overcrowded. The fireworks were the best I had ever seen. It seems like things started to change in 2004. The last party I went to was 2003 and it was great.
Anyone who goes this year and feels the park is overwhelmed with people let's let Disney know how we feel. Maybe if enough people speak up they will reduce the number of tickets they sell to make the event more enjoyable. :rotfl: I know that they probably make a lot money off it but it can't hurt to let them know about your experience.
I am going on the 11th but I now know to expect heavy crowds.

.So I brought post card home and took to print shop and had picture on post card put on 3 inch button with Title MVMCP 2004.So I guess if they don't give us buttons this year I will do the same thing again.:wave2:
I too collect the buttons. I love this idea if they don't give out buttons this year I will try to do this.

last year was our first year going to the event and it will be our last...it was overcrowded..you couldnt get into the shows unless you sat there and wasted all your time for the next show to begin....lines for cookies were crazy...hot chocolate lines crazy...picture taking ?? didnt even get it done...we were so excited about going and then it turned out to be a big disaapointment...

Hi

I have read all of the DWills reviews and all of the ones you have all posted...thank you for taking the time to report your experiences!

DH and I have decided to not do MVMCP based on the reviews we have read. I hope this message gets to the Disney folks (we know they are reading these boards!) to continue to balance out profits and customer satisfaction...

This is going to be my first MVMCP and I have high expectations that it is going to be really fantastic.

My best advice is to lower your expectations a bit. I went to MVMCP with very high expectations and I think it's part of the reason I was disappointed.
I had read and heard so much about it, I'd really built it up. My brother and SIL went with me knowing nothing about it and enjoyed it more than I did. They agreed it was pretty crowded, but for example, I didn't even TELL them about the free picture, so when we skipped it because of the long lines, I was disappointed, but they didn't really miss it. KWIM?

We went last year for the first time and we won't ever go again. It was more crowded than I had ever seen the MK before! The lines for cookies were very long, and when we finally did get some, we discovered they were terrible---very dry and lacking in flavor. The hot cocoa was really good, though. I did not think it was worth the money AT ALL. I would rather pay that money for an extra day in the parks.

Boy, am I glad I read this thread. I've been tossing the idea of MVMCP back and forth since I made ressies and now have finally decided to forego. It's alot of $$ to spend if it's not really, really good (IMHO). We already planned two full days in MK so we'll see all the attractions. I just thought it would be neat to see the snow falling. Then again, I saw 3' snow fall in one day last year at home, so what am I thinking :rotfl2:

We have tickets for Tuesday, November 29th. I am just trying to prepare the rest of the group, when you guys are talking overcrowded what are you saying. Busy like Spring break? We were at disney last year during Spring Break and is was VERY Crowded.
