I know the MVMCP is a seperate ticket event, my question is do you also need to use your regular pass for entry to the park for the event?

No, you can enter after 4:00pm with just your MVMCP ticket.

No you can actually enter the park with your MVMCP the day of the party at 4 p.m. Many people do not buy a regular park ticket for that day and do other things until time for the party. If you are already in the park, you must get an armband to stay in after 7 p.m. You have to show the armband to get on rides. If you are found at the parade and other places without one you are politely asked to leave or told where to purchase your ticket.

So your MVMCP will be swiped at the gate at 4 p.m. and if they do not place the armband on then--you will be given one when you present your ticket to a CM later on. They walk all over the park passing out armbands...or they used too.
