My daughter is going to be dressed up like Sleeping Beauty for the party. My son asked if he could dress up as Captian Jack Sparrow. I said no at first, then I was thinking it didn't seem fair that My DD could and he couldn't. What is everyones thoughts about dressing up for MVMCP??? Would he feel silly after he got there and he was the only one dressed up (he is 8 and having a very sensitive stage) thanks for any input!!!!

If he wants to I would say let him. As you are aware mostly little girls dress up in there dresses but that is an everyday view. Alot of people wear the funny christmas hats, mickey santa hats, christmas shirts, sweaters etc. So it is festive he may not feel out of place. Maybe come up with something christmasy to add to costume

Our one ds bought the christmas stitch hat to wear during the party. We were all a little chilly and wore jackets. I had a christmas turtle neck on. Most everyone we saw had christmas themed hats and clothing. I honestly didnt see children in the themed costumes. But if your children are happy doing that then that is what they should do. Have a great time. I am sure your family picture will look cute too. My dh and the ds bought me the christmas minnie ears to wear and they looked cute in our family picture. The picture line is really long, but goes fast.

I would suggest not wearing the full costume. I have a 7 year old and a 9 year old and they usually just wear something on their heads - crowns or hats. I think a full costume is too much at that age. Of course it depends on your child, and it is all about his happiness and not what others think but you don't want him to feel silly and not be able to enjoy MVMCP. Take the costume and let him decide once you get there.

Well, after going to MNSSHP, my DD who is 8, is convinced that she wants to wear her Princess Leia costume to MVMCP. :teeth: Oh boy! I'm not sure what I'm going to do :) I think that kids see so many little girls dressed as princesses in the parks that they just don't see a difference in any Disney related costume and really what is wrong with that. :goodvibes

Also, I'm sure that your son would gets tons of positive attention from CMs and other parks guests so I would think that it would be great!
