Do they only sell a linited amount of tickets each night and if so how many? A CM told me they don't limit the number of tickets sold. But if that is the case how can they sell out, like I've read here? :confused3

They do put a cap on the number of tickets they sell each night- however, don't let that decieve you! When I went years ago, I was expecting it to be a nice evening, but in all actuality, it was the most crowded I had ever seen in the parks- and this was during a non peak time. So- go, you'll enjoy it it, but be expecting big crowds for the party.

The most talked about number on here is 20,000. I don't believe that number's been verified though.

They do put a limit on the number of tickets. This past Dec. we did a sold out night and a not sold out night and you could definitly tell the difference. I would avoid Fri or the weekend for MVMCP.

Yes they do sell out, but I agree with the above poster- don't set your expectations too high. We went on 2 weekdays in early Dec. last year and I was very disappointed in the large crowds- neither night was a sell-out. We went on a Tues. and Thurs. We were there the first week of Dec. and crowds were very low during the day. The largest crowds we saw the whole week were at MVMCP. B/c of the low crowds during the day, we had ridden everything and were there for the Christmas stuff. Every show was PACKED!!! and people lined up for the parade up to 2 hours before it started! There were people holding their spot on Mainstreet at 6:15 for the 8:00 parade!! Both nights were great- but be prepared. We saw many characters- but the lines were forever long! Fantasyland was crowded- didn't wait in line for the rides- not sure how long they were. I'm glad we went, but I'm not sure I would ever do two nights again.

Its really great after the fireworks because a lot of people start to clear out.

I remember waiting 5 minutes to ride on Dumbo with my kids and that would hardly ever happen during a regular day.

I so wanted to do MVMCP...I even have LTT ressie's. I would be going on either a tues or a thurs 12/6 or 12/8. Now I'm worried that it will be so crowded.

thaggie, try not to be disappointed. Going the beginning of Dec is probably the best time to go and picking a weekday is next best. Enjoy LTT and the party.

thaggie- don't be disappointed- but do be prepared. MVMCP is a wonderful experience. I went expecting very low crowds and a relaxing night- I was disappointed b/c of my expectations. The Christmas shows were wonderful and the parade was an experience within itself. Just study these boards, the sticky thread at the top of this forum, and have a plan. It will be a magical night! I did study, but thought b/c I went on a week night at the beginning of Dec. it would be a very low crowd- I was wrong. We did have a plan and that helped tremendously- I knew which shows I wanted to see and what times. Have this figured out before you go so you won't get stuck trying to find a show and time and fight the crowds. The shows were very crowded- but good. The second night we went we just had a very slow-paced night. We saw all the shows we wanted to the first night and took the second night ot soak up the atmosphere- do NOT miss the snow on MainStreet. We even staked out a place on main street for the parade and that was spectacular! We took the kids to see Santa- long line! He arrives I think at 7:00 and we got in line around 6:45- by the time we saw him the line was very, very long- I'm glad I found out what time he'd be there so we'd be close to the front. MVMCP is wonderful- just have realistic expectations. And again, I regret going two nights. We saw all the shows we wanted, the parade, and fireworks the first night. And the rides we did during the day b/c it was a very slow week in the parks. But, it is a magical experience that you should definitely do at least once- if we ever go again in Dec. we'll probably do it again too.

Thanks! I will go, but with expectations that it will be packed and hopefully I'll be suprised with it not being very crowded!!!

When will the shows and times be posted or will I have to wait till someone goes to the 1st one and posts the info?

The parties at the beginning of the month and during the week really aren't that bad crowd-wise.

The show times for this year will probably be similar to last year's. They don't change much from year to year. We won't know this year's show times till after the first party, when people pick up the party park map and post the info here!

We went to the first party - the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I have never done the Xmas party before, only Halloween, which we really enjoyed. The crowds for the Xmas party we went to were horrid. It was more crowded than the MK was on Thanksgiving. I was very disappointed. I really don't think they had much of a limit on those tickets. I can't imagine going on a "sold out" night. That would be a nightmare. :guilty:

I wouldn't do it again. My kids didn't even have fun and usually nothing fazes them. They are happy to be on vacation, let alone at WDW, but it was such a crowded bust. We didn't get any Xmas cookies/cocoa, no photo, only saw one show that was standing room only.....yuck. Major disappointment.

This thread has me kind of bummed. I talked my DD into buying tickets for MVMCP on the only night we'll be there - the final party on 12/20. With myself and DSIL in wheelchairs & 14-year-old DGD in tow, I'm beginning to wonder how we'll navigate through the crowded conditions. When I first read about MVMCP, I was under the impression that limiting the number of tickets sold to 20,000 would provide a more relaxed evening than the crowded days we are likely to encounter that week before Christmas. Now I'm getting anxious about having made this decision. DD ordered our tickets yesterday, so we're committed. I guess we'll just go with the most upbeat attitude we can muster, and make the best of it. I was actually hoping that we might get to do all the rides and attractions we wanted between 4pm entry and midnight closing - and not need to use our passes for another day at MK, but....

Since there aren't any small children in our group who will conk out mid-evening, and since we won't be going to another park that day, perhaps crowds will thin out enough after the first parade that we'll still get to do all the things we want. We're buying 7-day non-expiring passes - knowing that we'll only use 3 or 4 days this trip, and will plan another Disney vacation - maybe just before my DGD goes off to college. We enjoy Disney, but we also like to go other places, and once every 4 or 5 years at WDW is enough for us. (For those of you who spend all your vacations at Disney World, please don't flame me.)

The key is to get there early and do as much as possible before the first parade ends. The back of the park is empty when the party starts. Get your picture done early. If you want hot chocolate & cookies, do that early. If you watch the first parade on Main Street and then expect to go into the park to ride and get your picture taken, you are going to be disappointed.

I agree with DebbieB. If you go thinking it's going to be REALLY crowded then I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Some areas will be more crowded then others at different times of the night and that is why you'll hear varying reports on how crowded or un-crowded it was.

Also the park really dies down after the fireworks and especially after the second parade.

We found it best to avoid the first parade if at all possible, because it is packed and people stake out spots very early. For the second parade, there were excellent viewing spots available in Frontierland right up to the time the parade started. Definitely have a plan and know which shows you want to see at what times. We didn't plan on doing a lot of rides during MVMCP - we figured we'd get to the rides when were were at MK other times, and we just wanted to take in the atmosphere and special events of MVMCP.

Getting onto the rides was never a problem for us- it was seeing all the special shows that was difficult.

What are the special shows besides "Mickey's, Twas the Night Before Christmas"?

This past Dec we spent Dec 7th all day and then stayed at MK for the party...The day at MK was terrific no crowds at all...we did everything in FL 2 times by 11am....But by 4PM when they start letting in the christmas party people it got busy...by 8PM it was a madhouse...We rode nothing saw no shows and sat for 2 hours to see the 2nd parade...We actually just hung out cause we saw everything during the day...My son and I after the parade did go to SM and rode it like 4 times in a row then Buzz...SO yes after the 2nd parade and fireworkd it dies way down but then its only like hour and a half till closing....now 2 years ago the same Tuesday in Dec was wonderful...We went to the party at 4 and was able to do every ride and show that evening and even cancelled our Thursday at Disney and went to Epcot which we hadnt planned on doing that trip...I dont know if the people having to reschedule due to the Hurricanes last season affected the crowds or what but if they would keep it like 2 years ago it is well worth the money....
