I am sure this has been asked many times but I have not seen it.....we went the the Halloween Party at the MK on 9/20.........was very crowded and in my opinion, besided the parade and fireworks it was really not special to us...not once did anyone bother to check to see if we had the bracelet on and in my opinion there were quite a few people that just stayed and enjoyed the party for free.....so I wonder if the Christmas party will be a repeat of the same....although we have gone in the past....but not in the past 6 years I wonder if it will be worth it for us? I know the price of the Christmas party is more than the Halloween Party.
What do you guys think? We would not just stay and try to blend in like others have done but it is a decent amount of money for 5 hours.

I can say that I am glad I did it once, and I enjoyed the experience. Would I do it again? Probably not, unless dd really wanted to. We don't usually go at that time of the year, but the one time we did, we tried it. We usually do MNSSHP, which we really enjoy. We found the crowds to be much greater than MNSSHP. One of the things we enjoy about MNSSHP is that fact that the crowds are low (imo), and you're really free to do what you want without too much of a wait. We enjoy the fall/halloween theming too. That said, again, I did enjoy doing MVMCP once, for me, I don't think I'd do it again. It is a great deal of money. Good luck with your decision! :goodvibes

We have done the Christmas party 3 times, and will do it again this year. My kids love it and look forward to it each year, it has become a very expensive tradition. I think it is worth it to try it. We really enjoy it, crowds and all!

Honestly for what they are starting to charge, the sheer number of people and the amount of time spent waiting in lines I honestly don't think so. I Personally like MNSSHP 100 times better but it has got to the point where its starting to become not worth it as well.

If you haven't done it then by all means go for it. Who knows maybe you will catch the right night and it wont be too busy.

Depends on when you are going. Early to mid-November might have some reasonable crowds. But any date after Thanksgiving can sell out and the crowds do suck a lot of the fun out of it.

We have been at WDW 8 Christmas trips. We love WDW at Christmas time. We will be at MVMCP on the 16th of December and we love it. It is all about what you like. WDW is crowded at Christmas but no big deal we will be there 12 nights and 13 days., We are use to it and we always get PH tickets so if we think we need to go some place else we just go to another park. WDW is not just about parks we have reservations to eat at several resorts and we enjoy the place. 66 days and I will be there.:wizard::woohoo:

We did it on our first trip and really enjoyed it. I walked onto Space Mountain and my kiddo rode the rides with almost no wait. I enjoyed the free cookies, hot chocolate and the parade. It was fun and an experience I think everyone should do at least once.
With that being said we are going the same week this year but are bypassing the MVMCP this year. We are glad we did it once because we really enjoyed it.

I think you (OP) answered your question in your post. Take the money and try something new (and most likely a heck of a lot cheaper). Take a carriage ride and then eat at someplace different for you. BTW, we went once too. Like another post said I'm glad we did it but it not's going to happen again.

Are the rare characters out during the xmas party like they are during the Halloween party? Is it pretty much the same thing as the MNSSHP just with different theming or are there different characters out specifically for the xmas party?

I went to the MNSSHP for the first time last month and loved it....would do it again. I am planning on being back at the World next November/December and was thinking about trying the MVMCP. Is it worth it or will I be let down when I compare it to the MNSSHP?

It is all a matter of opinion. Here is my opinion:

I used to love MVMCP, but it not not a good value for the money anymore. The number of tickets they sold used to make the parks very easy to navigate, but each year they sell more and more tickets and so it is like the transition of regular hours and EMH throughout the entire party. Also, they have cut-back quite a bit. The first party I went to in 2002 had a lot more entertainment, there were so many more decorations you would not believe it, we received a photo, the cocoa and cookies were good back then and we paid $27 for our party ticket. 9 years later, most all of that is gone and the tickets are close to $70.

So, if you have money to spend to go to a busy EMH, you are buying a special parade and a special version of Wishes (for the most part).

We really enjoy MVMCP, but honestly MNSSHP is the better party. I'd go to that one, but despise the heat so much that time of year.

The Dwarves were out last year. And there will be a small number of other different characters, but honestly, it is not even on the same level when it comes to that.

The parade is pretty magical though, and we still love going. I just wish they'd show some love to this party and add some more unique characters.

The MNSSHP is the better of the 2 imho, but given all the negative posts this year,I am not sure we will bother with it anymore.

Does anyone know around when the schedule for MVMCP is announced/published/available?

We liked MNSSHP better. It's just DH and me, no kids. We had a blast when we went in 09, some of the costumes were really cool, fireworks and parade awesome, little to no lines for the main attractions, weather was beautiful, and the park looked really spectacular all lit up for Halloween. My DH who is a negative Nelly asked me the next year if I wanted to go, he rarely has a good time doing anything, so that tells me that it was a pretty neat experience.

The Christmas party was O.K. We did the desert party, which was a surprise to my DH and he really like that. We went the first week of Dec so crowds were extremely low, the longest wait we had was for the bus. I like the Christmas fireworks better, but I like the Halloween parade better. I like the special effects and decorations for the Halloween party better, the HM CM's look awesome, and the Madam does a great job.

Historically they haven't released anything until the day of the party. But I was surprised at how much everyone knew here on the DIS about this year's character lineup for MNSSHP a bit in advance of the first party. I'm hoping we get some early info for MVMCP too!
