MVMCP - does it sell out? rain out?

Thinking of buying tickets to MVMCP on 12/7 - do these events typically sell out? What happens if it rains? I thought one of the big attractions was the parade - so if it rains, does that still go on? (curious because I know on "regular" days if it rains they seem to have a very abbreviated parade).

Sometimes the Friday evenings sell out, especially close to Christmas. Locals tend to go those nights, and the crowds get larger. I was there a few years ago and it was unusually rainy. Our party was overcast but I heard a few during our stay had bad rain. I am sure I heard people talking about how wet they got. I don't know if they cancel the parties for rain.

We were at the 9/15 MNSSHP and watched the early parade in Frontierland. It wasn't just raining. It was pouring! We were soaked. I was surprised that they didn't cancel the parade.

We will be there on 12/7! I have heard that they tend to sell out the closer you are to Christmas which makes me happier about being there early in the month...hopefully it won't be as crowded.

We went to our first MNSSHP in 1997 when it poured and poured. However, by the time the party started, it was only drizzling. When we went again two years ago, it started raining right before the parade started - lightning, thunder - and they cancelled the Headless Horseman. When we went to MVMCP in 1998, again, it poured and didn't let up. So our photos from the party show us rather wet and bedraggled.

So I'd say they don't cancel the party, but it does sell out a lot of times. Especially the ones nearer to Halloween and the ones on Fridays.
