This will be a 1st for all three... party, fireworks, and dessert buffet.
Do you think the dessert buffet is overkill?

Did MVMCP and dessert party on 11/9! I thought it was a great place to watch the fireworks w/out the huge crowds and it made the night special.... BUT I did loose a hour of the party. My son probably would have liked to hunt for more characters during that time but it was the one thing that I wanted to do.

I love the dessert reception and the entire concept of the fireworks with a hundred people instead of 1000s. That being said, I would not do it on a party night. You are already paying extra for the party and there are tons of things to do on party night.

I would book the dessert party for another night of your vacation. That way you can experience both.

I did both last year on the same day and thought it was great. I especially liked being able to sit and watch the fireworks. It made me feel like a "VIP" for the evening. If it's the only evening you can do it, I would go for it. Make sure you buy tixs well in advance, since they do sell out quickly.

We were there that night too and I was glad we did the dessert party since it was so packed that night. Also, we went back for Sunday's party so losing the hour didn't quite impact us as much as it did some.

Edit: We were there on 11/11 and not 11/9.

I toyed with the idea of doing the MVMCP and a dessert party on the same night, but ultimately decided I'd rather spend the time doing the MVMCP-specific activities. It was crowded, but I didn't feel like I was being over-crowded watching the fireworks. Also, there are already yummy snacks at MK (not to mention the cookies and cocoa) that I just couldn't justify the cost of the dessert party.

I did both but on separate nights. I think doing both would just waste time you could spend on the parties, rides, and parades.

Did the party on the 4th of July.

While it wasn't massive ..and I didn't end up eating a ton of desserts.. it was well worth the money just for the view alone!
