MVMCP 2011 Thread

We just got back from the 11/11/11 MVMCP which was sold out. This review is mainly for those people that are not interested in characters.

The rides were mainly walk on or under 10 minutes all night except Buzz was about 20 minutes at 10:00 pm and Peter Pan and Winnie were about 20 minutes at 11:00 pm. We rode during the Party time - Pirates, Splash (twice in a row since no lines so the CM just asked us if we wanted to ride again), Thunder Mountain, Haunted House, Peter Pan, Snow White, Philharmagic, Small World, Tea Cups and Tommorrowland Speedway. So you have an idea we worked mostly clockwise starting at Adventureland and moving to Frontierland, Liberty Square, Tomorrowland, and lastly backtracked to Fantasyland.

We also got treats at Columbia Harbour House and Bay 1 of Cosmic Ray's with lines under 3 minutes in each.

We watched the fireworks while eating at Cosmic Ray's. The lines to eat at Cosmic Ray's at 9:15 were about 2-3 people each. The dance party in Cosmic Ray's was also about 1/2 full at that time.

We did not do any character lines but from what we saw all seemed fairly manageable (15 people or less) with the exception of the dwarves which was to the play area by Splash Mountain. We also did not watch the parade but at 8 pm the crowd for the parade in Frontierland was just one person deep so it would have been easy to get a fairly good spot. We were in Fantasyland during the second parade. We saw the end of Celebrate the Season show (the 11:20 showing) as we were leaving (while it snowed on Main Street :santa:) and there was a very light crowd in front of the castle for that show.

We avoided Main Street since we assumed that would be crazy so I can't report on the crowds there or to meet the Princesses, Santa, or Mickey and Minnie. We were on Main Street at 6:45 pm or so since we had to get a jacket as it was pretty cold that night and we were wet from an earlier ride on Splash Mountain and it was PACKED with people leaving and coming in.

We left at about 11:45 just as a ferry was leaving. We got on the next ferry which was about 50-60% full.

All in all we were glad we went and found that if you are there for the rides with a dash of the holidays then even a sold out night was worth the price.

I am going again on December 2nd and this time will do the parade, the show and some characters as I will be going with a 2 year old.

Thank you for a great review!!!:thumbsup2 :surfweb:
What are the "treats" you got? I did not hear about them before....

We are going to MVMCP on December 16th.

I have a few questions:

What time do the parade and fireworks start?

What else is involved in the christmas party?? I know about the parade, fireworks, special characters, snow on main street, cookies and hot chocolate. But what else is there that I am missing?

I'm coming to Disney (in just 12 days!!) for our 1st Christmastime trip. I can't wait. Nov 27th is the only day we could do MVMCP - is it worth it? I imagine it would get us in the holiday spirit...I have 2 boys age 14 and 13 with me, will they enjoy it? I guess I am looking for someone to talk me into it :santa:

Just wondering how to plan dinner around it too

Can someone tell me about the photo with Santa in the MK? We will be there the 7th if that helps. If we were to get a photo with Santa, are we looking at getting it taken in the train station or down by the flag pole? I really want one up on the train station deck so we get the castle behind us, if not Im going to cross it off the list. Thanks.

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is at 8:15 and 10:30 p.m.; Holiday Wishes fireworks is at 9:30 p.m.

Here is a MVMCP Guidemap from AllEars below:

i know this is a dumb question but is there ever a good time to get a picture with the dwarves when the line isnt so long? I read about people waiting for an hour and stuff and I just couldnt do that haha

Most people will line up for the first Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is at 8:15; if not second 10:30 p.m parade and that might be your best time with the least crowds to see the dwarves.

I assume they are talking about the cookies and hot chocolate. Apple slices should be available too.

There are also a couple stage shows, one on the castle steps and one in Tomorrowland. But that about covers it.

Do they do photos of Santa from up in the train station? Regardless, you'll need to be flexible on this. Up until the parade taping that prior weekend, a shot from the flagpole area with the castle in the background could be possible. But right after the parade taping, that's where they put the giant Christmas tree so the view is obscured.

Is there one??

Like for planning and what will be out and where stuff is 'usually' located?

Any help, or pointing me in the right direction would be great!!

Thanks!!

What are the "treats" you got? I did not hear about them before....

I saw it was answered below but yes they had hot chocolate, cinammon cookies, apple juice and apple slices. We had the hot choclate and cookies. The hot chocolate was great (I love hot chocolate) and the cookies were soft and chewy so really good as well.

December 16th is my first time going to Disney at Christmas! I am so excited (it is a surprise for our girls. I can't wait till they figure it out). I am also using this time to celebrate my 40th birthday (it was at the end of Sept., so I am as old as Magic Kingdom!):)
My questions is this: Do they have photo pass photographers durinng the party? I am debating if I should buy the photo CD. We are only going to be at disney for a long weekend (husband is a teacher and can't take more time off).
Thanks for your help.

Yes. They will be with most characters and at the usual scenic spots.

See here for specific character PhotoPass opportunities:

We arrive on December 17th for our xmas stay!! Would love to do MVMCP on 12/18 but event is sold out. Anybody have 4 Adult tickets they may not use?

Thanks!

The line for the dwarves is by the restroom between Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain. We go in line at about 7:15 and waited almost an hour and a half the first night of the party. It seemed like the line got shorter after the first hour, so maybe you could try later if you don't want to get there before 7:00.

The bathroom by the little playland, by Splash Mountain exit?

My eTickets for the MVMCP on 12/14/2011 are printing as I type this. We have been to WDW in December many times, but this is our first MVMCP. My family (DH & DS-7) and I are so looking forward to this!

I know, we are so pumped!! Me & DH got the Mickey & Minnie Santa Hats to wear, and I got my DS (18) the Goofy ears Santa hat, and my DS (21) a Saint Louis Cardinal Santa hat that i'm going to add Mouse ears to for the party.

My family and I are planning to attend the Nov 27th party and we presently have base tickets, thus I was planning to go to MK on that day and purchase the Christmas party tickets separetly as required. However I read this on another site and am now confused,

"In the past, the tickets have been good for admission beginning at 4pm. You may also use a day on your Magic Your Way Ticket, your Annual Pass, or another ticket form to enter the Park for the whole day if you like. Some people forgo the Park Hopper upgrade and purchase the Christmas Party ticket instead. This way, on the day of the Party they can spend most of the day at another Park and “hop” over to the Magic Kingdom at 4pm without needing to use a Park Hopper ticket."

Is the above statement correct and if it is does it then mean I can go to AK in the morning and then gain entrance to MK in the evening with my base ticket with the required the other Party ticket and if so will they take another day of my base ticket for essentially.hopping that day,

TIA

I'm pretty sure what it means is that you can go to AK in the am - and then just use your party ticket to do the Christmas party in the PM. You wouldn't use your base ticket at all.

We are doing the Christmas party and probably going on a day when we don't have any other ticket.
