Hello All,

After years of talking about it, my mom and I decided to take a nice mother-daughter trip to Disney during the holidays :) My mom and I are very big on Christmas decorating and have always wanted to see Disney during the holidays.

We have tickets for MVMCP on Nov 14th and I just wanted to see if there is anything I should know/take into consideration for that day. My mom and I have a ADR at Kona Cafe that night at 5:45. I saw something in earlier threads about a "lighting around 6:15". Is this just when they put all the lights from the decorations on and if so, is it worth seeing?

I am just curious if we should change our reservation to an earlier dinner in order to see the lighting.

Also, what time do you recommend we being lining up on Main Street for the parade? (times for the early or late is fine!)

Any insight and/or additional advice would be helpful, thank you!

That is so exciting that you are doing a mother daughter trip and at Christmas time no less. Christmas time at Disney is simply amazing and I love the MVMCP. If I were you I would try and move up your dinner reservation just a tad earlier so you have plenty of park time. You will be allowed to enter with MVMCP tickets at 4pm even though the party doesn't technically start until 7pm. I am having a difficult time recalling a special lighting event so I can't help you there.

They will have cookies, hot cocoa and apple slices for snacking around the park. The lines for rides will be lower than regular evenings, there is snow on main street and the characters are in special holiday attire. If you want photos with these characters you will probably have a decent line.

Thank you!

We are hoping to get a 4:30pm-5pm reservation instead, but so far nothing we really want to eat at is open at that time, I am going to keep checking each day though! We are trying to do dinner either in MK or at a resort with easy access to get there, which is why Kona Cafe worked out pretty well since there is the monorail.

It's going to be such a nice trip. I'm in my late 20s, so it will be very different from the last time we were there! It will be all about soaking in Disney as an adult. That means we prob won't be taking photos with the characters, however I can see my inner child calling too haha

Thanks for the advice :)

Luckily Kona Café is close and isn't a lengthy affair so if you can't get it changed you should still arrive with plenty of time to enjoy the party. I have taken a few mother daughter trips and they were always fun. My mom is the one that gave me the Disney bug and we are hoping to take another mother daughter trip soon.

We aren't big character photo people either but I know plenty of adults that are.

On another note, make sure you catch the decorations at some of the other resorts as well. GF, CR and WL are all beautiful at Christmas time.

Last year, we did the latest lunch for Kona and then entered MVMCP at 4:00 and had snacks during the party. On another party day, we had a light dinner at The Wave Lounge at 4:00 and then entered the party. The Wave Lounge opens at 3:00 and serves their bar menu and at 5:00 you can also order off of the Dinner Menu.

Besides Main St. the parade can be easily viewed in Frontierland. It's also less crowded.
