"Must see" things at California Adventure?

I really like Tough To Be A Bug - a "4D" movie - but I'd say it might be too scary for younger kids such as the OP's. Maybe the 5 1/2 year old would be ok.

I agree - DD7 was even a little scared.

Yes! Take them to Tough to be a Bug! This was one our favorite things in DCA! So much fun!

While I liked it - it absolutely freaks out ds who is 8. He can handle Space Mountain and loves  Indy - but DO NOT make him watch Tough to be a Bug! :rotfl2: DD5 was fine with it though.

I'm sure all the kids would love Toy Story Midway Mania.

Allot a couple hours and a change of clothes (down to underwear and socks and shoes! and bring a couple towels) for bug's land. Let them play in the water play areas if they are on. Be the bad influence on other peoples' kids, LOL. Relish the "but that kid is getting wet" comments you'll hear.

OK, I'll stop. But seriously, some of DS's most fun days were the days he got to get drenched in the bug's land waterplay areas!

And the rest of bug's land is awesome as well. :goodvibes I actually think people should bring their little ones there BEFORE going to Fantasyland. All the rides are out in the open, no dark scary lines or buildings at all. Unlike Peter Pan, Alice, Mr Toad, Pinocchio, or Snow White.

They have a noisy play area near the Farmer's Market...get your earplugs, snag some lunch or a snack, and let 'em bang away! Superloud, superfun for kids.

Monsters inc ride is so awesome!

We love DCA. :lovestruc

I AGREE 100%! We love Bugsland! We finally went in there the night of our last day last year and I wish I had taken Dd3 there first she was afraid of everything and if we had just gone over there first I really think it would have been a different trip. She would have learned how to wait in line with out the nervous anticipation because we scared her while we were in FL. :confused3 Don't get me wont FL is my FAVORITE place next to the Train station in all of DL. Well the Lilybelle to be exact! That was so awesome! :lovestruc But I really think for young children Bugsland is understated! I think that it really emerges the children into the world. I mean imagine being a 3 year old walking into bugsland! They are truly bug size! I really love it there!
BTW After going there, we should them Bugs Life for the first time (all 4 Dd) they loved it even with the scary grass hoppers! LOL! :lmao: Oh BUT the our little girls DID NOT like it's Tough to be a Bug we did the first year Dd 5 (3 at the time) ran down the row for the door screaming! It was our first time too! Ooops! Sorry Cece bad Mommy! :rotfl2:

Yes, that show can freak some kids out but will be fine for others. Our nephews keep trying to go see it (or maybe it's the parents who keep trying to take them) and they were 9 and 13 last year and they still didn't like it and went running out the door after about 5 minutes. I think it really depends on the kid so just keep that in mind. I personally love the show though.

The Animation Studio. There are so many great things to do in there. :thumbsup2

And of course Soarin' It is my family's favorite. :goodvibes

I was really apprehensive about DS 3 and DD 5 seing "Tough to be a Bug" but they loved it! It really depends on the child. Monsters Inc was a favourite of DS as well as the Splash Park which they had a blast at.

Why do you think Soarin' Over Calif has a height requirement of 40"? It isn't a rollercoaster, is it? I thought it was more of a motion simulator kinda thing, no?

DS is just a hair over 39". Seems kinda odd he meets the height requirement (by 4"!) for the Matterhorn rollercoaster, but not for Soarin. (???)
