Spending three days in San Antonio with 12 and 9 year old. What are some must see places to visit?
We are planing on river walk, Alamo, sea world.

There are a lot of other missions besides the Alamo in San Antonio. The Alamo is fun to go to when you are at the River Walk and does a good job with the Texas Revolution. However, the others missions are better at looking at Spanish Mission Life.

Tons of stuff to do downtown. Hit up a Mexican bakery. There are a few in market square.

The Rivercenter mall has a movie that explains the timeline of the Alamo, if you are not familiar with it. We also enjoyed the riverwalk cruise. The kids can do the junior ranger program if they go to the other missions, just go to nps.gov.

San Antonio is so much fun. You can do the boat cruise on the Riverwalk, Ripley's Believe It or Not, zoo, Market Square (El Mercado). If you have time to make a little bit of a drive (about 45 minutes), you can go to Natural Bridge Caverns and wildlife park or a little bit further and go to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels. Fiesta Texas (a Six Flags park) is in San Antonio as well.

When are you going? If it is soon, be sure to look at Sea World's schedule. Unlike WDW and Sea World Orlando, when school is in session, Sea World San Antonio often is not open on weekdays. It will be open weekdays during a week or two for Spring Break in March. Other than that, weekdays it is closed quite a bit until May- particularly Mon through Wed. Six Flags Fiesta Texas is also a fun place in San Antonio, but again it will have seasonal hours. It is a 30 minute drive from downtown San Antonio, but we really enjoyed the Natural Bridge Caverns:

They also have a Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch which is a drive through animal preserve that is next to the Natural Caverns. It is also fun. If you see the ostriches coming to your car, roll up your windows though- they will stick their whole head in your car to try to steal the animal feed and will not give up or get their head out. I'm scared of ostriches (childhood zoo incident:rolleyes:), and my DD and DH still bring up my ostrich incident there from a couple of years ago and start laughing uncontrollably. The thing had its head in my lap and I was flipping out and screaming and trying get it to get out of the car. It was friendly though- just persistent! If I had to pick only one of those places, I would definitely pick the Caverns, especially if your kids have never toured a cavern before, but they are both fun. We did them both on the same day.
