Must have christmas present for teenage girl?

Mine already has a cute coach purse that we bought from the outlet store last year. I think maybe I will wait till her bday to get her a wallet. As far as gifts. I did order the AE gift card so far. That is a great idea. $100 for her to spend on whatever she wants. She will like that. Other than that- boots, clothing and Itunes giftcards so far is all I have come up with.

I am a little confussed because is it a FREE $50 that you get on there? How does it work? How much do I need to put on it before I get the FREE $50? Will they start taking money out of my account every month or is it a one time thing? Please let me know how it works. Thanks!

Also: what is the amount that I have to load in there to get the $50 and when do I need to load it by?

DD14 has asked for pearl earrings (this one surprised me), cord TOMS, Samsung dual screen camera, black Northface jacket, jeggings.

I will get those things. I'm glad she could think of things. I was stumped as she seems to have most of the must haves.

Question about the North Face? What style do the teens want? They are not sold locally so I'll have to order and want to get the "cool" style.

I am struggling for my niece (16). She already has a laptop, new cell phone, Ugg boots, IPod Touch and docking station, Coach purse.

I am thinking a necklace or bracelet from Tiffanys. We will be by the store beginning of December. IDK? She is so hard to buy for!!

This is the one I got DD.

Last year it was the Northface Denali, which was about $125-$150.

Thanks for all the great ideas. I think I will look into the AMEX cards. She has an Ipod touch too, so I think shopping is going to be a stuggle this year.

:scared1: This is the Budget Board right?

Thanks about the info regarding AmEx. This year will be a very skimpy holiday and this will be a very nice treat for Dd.

I am also thinking of a refurbished Ipod. She got one a few years ago but it was the little tiny skinny one and I want to upgrade for her.

:lmao: That's what I was thinking. I was reading thinking my kids are deprived. Of course they aren't, but none of them have any of the things listed here and won't be getting them. DD16 does have a laptop, DH is an IT guy so since she needed one for school he was able to find an incredible deal and make the necessary upgrades.

I did almost have a heart attack when DD16 saw a purse she wanted for like $30 and she didn't get it till it went on clearance. I am sure the Coach ones are nice but she will have to wait till she's paying the bills to find out.

I don't begrudge anyone for being able to afford the finer things for their kids, or themselves for that matter, but this is a BB thread probably not for me, but not all of them are. It was an interesting read though.

Well, my sister (her mom) bought the laptop last year? and they both just got new cell phones. I bought her the Coach purse two years ago at the outlet. I also bought her the IPod touch, which I paid for half of it using my point from traveling. And my other sister bought her the docking station. My mom (grandma) bought her the Ugg boots.

She did not get in all at once. The other posters were saying their children also had these items, not sure why I got singled out?

The Tiffany necklace maybe? :confused3 Not that expensive, you can get one for $100, thats not over the top, in my opinion.

I agree! I do look for bargains though. Girls around here don't go for the Coach bags as far as I have seen. Dd would never get one from me!!! Last year she did get a Northface but is was not the Denali but another one that looks just as nice and was under $50 on clearance. I just ordered a refurbished Ipod Nano 5th Generation for $99...which was a great deal. Between that and the AmEx deal that will probably be just about all she gets unless I see a super duper deal on something. She and I have both lost a great deal of weight so I will look for some clothes for her but that should be about it this year. Times are tough and my Dh has taken a 75% cut in pay so we can only do what we can afford. We are not trying to impress anyone by outspending everyone around us!!
Do what you can afford and come on here to look for true bargains and don't worry about the ones that buy luxury items for teens.

I use reward points from credit cards to buy things for Christmas. Last year it was Coach purses and matching wallets for the girls, DS#1 got a GPS and DS#2 got an Itouch and I was able to pay for all of it with reward points.

Teenage girls are get more & more expensive as the years go on

Vans
Converse
Betsey Johnson earrings
Tokidoki cross body bag
and she's really into these pilot hats & cable knit beanies :)

She would like some headphones & iTunes gc too :santa:

We sent this list to gma :thumbsup2

what cute hats! i saw a girl in our HS marching band wearing a panda hat like that after the football game last night-it wasn't knitted like that one, it looked like fleece, but it was very cute too!

I'm having trouble buying for teenage DD (17), but it's because she doesn't WANT anything! She told me to make a charitable donation in her honor, which I'll probably do, but I want her to have some gifts under the tree. She has an iPod touch (but only because I surprised her with it last year...she said she didn't want one...but it turns out she does like it), she's not into designer bags, and she has enough clothes to open her own store. I'm truly at a loss.

That is a lot like my DD. She had her Sweet 16 on Wednesday and I had no idea what to get her. The only thing she did want was $70, $20 over what we normally spend but being her 16th and that I didn't spend as much as I had budgeted for her party (she only wanted a few friends, not a big party,) we got it for her. She wanted a tablet for the computer. But since that is all she has wanted for a year now, I am left with no ideas for Christmas. We still have "believers" in the house so we need to make sure there are still some gifts for her even if she says no (plus, I want her to have some things.)

WWF has a cool idea-you sponser an animal and get a stuffed one of it-I know she is 17 but usually girls like stuffies no matter how old and it gives you something to wrap. At AK they had the same thing- you sponsered a sea turtle nest and you get a stuffed squirt

Another thought is an experience. My kids get tickets to a broadway touring msuical for their birthday

You could donate to a charity that sends you a cute little critter. I know I donated last year to a local zoo and they sent me a cute stuffed monkey. That way she would have something under the tree. Does she read?

Thanks for the ideas. She does read (she's a voracious reader), and I have some books set aside for her, but she's literally running out of room to put books, and she has three bookshelves in her den filled up already! lol

We're going to WDW over Christmas so that will part of the gift for the whole family. I would just like to really "wow" her with something...
