It was so much fun to reading about what to do at OKW. How about a thread discussing what are the "must do's" at The Boardwalk.

Have fun.

Go to the bellview lounge at the end of the evening, relax, soak up the atmosphere, have a nightcap if you will, listen to the old radio shows, and play a board game with your kids. That is one cool place and theres usually hardly anyone in there.

We would not even think of going to Disney without going to the Flying Fish restaurant. We usually can't stop ourselves from going two times. It's great!

There's lots of entertainment all along the Boardwalk. Here are some of the opportunities available as you stroll along the Boardwalk every evening:

Jelly Rolls a dueling pianos experience.
Classic sing-along and good times await guests at the hottest dueling piano bar on the waterfront, featuring non-stop live entertainment in a rowdy, warehouse atmosphere.
Open at 7:00pm, shows from 8:00pm to 2:00am. $5 cover, bar.
Madam Morgana's The Fortune Teller
See what the future holds for you and have a personal Magical Experience that you will remember for the rest of your Life. Tarot Cards, Palmistry, or Astrology. Readings: $20 or $30 for 10 or 15 minutes. Open from 8:30pm to 11:00pm (Weather Permitting)

BoardWalk Buskers are on the Boardwalk from 6:30pm to 10:30pm
See the fun, the wacky, the bizarre, the just plain weird, when you catch the traveling Buskers. Guests participate to make the silliness magical and the magic just plain silly.

The Atlantic Dance Palace
Guests can dance the night away to the sounds of a variety of music at Atlantic Dance, located surfside right on the boardwalk. The spacious hall offers a sophisticated ambiance with a palette of rich blues, maroons and golds surrounding a parquet dance floor, and sparkling gold stars and twinkling lights adorn the ceiling.

In addition there's:

Caricature Artist
Hair wrappers
Surrey bike rental
Carnival games
ESPN

If you are a sports fan a visit to the ESPN Club is a must. If you like chicken wings that makes it even more of a must. I like to go in April because that is during baseball, basketball and hockey season. You can't decide which TV to look at. They also have video games hooked up to the tv sets in the booths in the bar area.

HBC

We always like to stop at Seashore Sweets for an Ice Cream Cone before heading in at night. Love that Rocky Road! :D
I love the festival atmosphere of the Boardwalk at night.

We love going to the Big River Grill after a night at Epcot and have a snack and a drink and watch the activities on the Boardwalk. I love to sit at an outside table, relax, and just soak up the night.

We enjoy the ESN Club for the GREAT wings. JellyRolls is a multiple must do for us. The place is AWESOME but beware of the smoke. The final must do is the Bakery. It makes for a great breakfast when you pick it the night before.

Just a small technical correction... lrodk wrote about the "Boardwalk Buskers". The Boardwalk Buskers were actually discontinued. The live entertainment on the Boardwalk now are individual performers (except for the Brass Band Guys) who do their act at various locations at various times. If I remember them all, there is:
  • A Fire Swallowing Belly Dancer
  • A Traveling Salesman Magician
  • A Rope Twirling Cowgirl
  • Carlo The Juggler
I can't remember if there are any more. I particularly like Carlo (the guy ballanced my sons baseball cap on his nose) and The magician peddleing his Egypana cure all. There is plenty of audience participation and very fun to watch. BUT!
I still have a warm place in my heart for the first act I saw on the BW... The Boardwak Buskers. These guys (actually one girl) were great. I was so sad to see them discontinued. They would come out 2-3 time a night as a trio and do their act. This consisted of twirling and balancing and magic all in one. The comedy was typical schtick but I laughed every time. My kids wanted to leave the parks early to go back to the BW to see the Buskers. I dont find them wanting to do that with the new acts though :( . I belive there were four Buskers but I think only three would perform at any given show.

Anyway... back to the original question. We usually take at least one day off from the parks when at WDW. I find it very entertaining and relaxing at the same time to eat at one of the BW restaurants and just stroll around taking in the whole atmosphere. We work our way over to the bridge leading to EPCOT and take in Illuminations while eating an icecream or sipping a hot chocolate (depending on the weather). We stop at the ESPN arcade for a few games, take in one or two of the entertainers, play a few arcade games, etc. We then work our way back to one of the pools and go for a night time dip. If community hall is still open, my boys always want to challenge me to a game of table tennis or the new hockey game they just added. The BW is wonderful place and every time I do the above I think how happy I am that we bought at the BWV.

We usually arrive about lunchtime and love to get the cold tuna sandwich at Leaping Horse and have lunch by the pool before hitting the parks. It's kind of a "we're finally here" celebration. Plus, that sandwich is GOOD!

Try the cheese calzone from the takeout window at Spoodles. If it's a warm day bring it over to the covered alcove under the veranda of the Boardwalk. There are ceiling fans and lounge chairs in there-- it's shaded and cool and it's a great spot to people watch! ;)

Another spot I enjoy is the balcony off of the lounge. For some reason no one is ever out there. Pick a comfy chair and relax!

Jelly rolls was fabulous - we will definately be doing this again :D
