Man, my dog, Merlin, should work for the National Weather Service! He can tell if a storm is on the way and immediately becomes attached to me or my husband, shaking and drooling. I don't hear any thunder yet, but I'm guessing I will in the next 15 minutes or so. The poor thing drools so much when he is scared that the carpet is literally soaked in places! :crazy2: If it storms at night, he's right up against the bed shaking. It's almost like having a magic fingers vibrating bed!

Ellester...what kind of dog do you have? When I ws young we had a collie who did the same thing. Hope nothing too severe is coming. We just had a bad one about 2 hours ago. We ended up in the basement...just in case.

He's supposed to be a lab/blue heeler mix. We got him from the pound when he was around a year old (we've had him for 9 years). I don't think it will be too bad. A cold front is supposed to move through tonite. We don't get too many twisters around here.

Sounds like my Shelties. They shake and pant so much it keeps me awake.

How's your weather? Did you get a storm yet? Pups are more accurate than the meteorologists. ;)

When I lived in FL, we used to have horendous thunderstorms. Once lightning much have struck awfully close because it blew out the TV! Had to replace that one. But another time it must have struck close again. Never heard such loud thunder. My retriever was terrified! :( Ever since then, he now sits on my foot or leans on me and shakes like a leaf whenever there's a thunderstorm. :(

My dog Oscar was from the pound and we could predict bad weather by his behavior. When we were outside sometimes, my husband would say"Oscar, a storm's coming!" and he would run into the house through the dog door. I sure do miss that dog - he lived with us for seventeen years!
Eventually he became deaf and would sleep pleasantly through the worst of thunder.

We have a shepard/lab mix (she's 5), and she knew a storm was coming this afternoon, probably 15 minutes before it arrived. She has the same tendencies as the OP's dog, panting, drooling, shaking. I feel so bad for her, but once the storm arrives, she calms down.

Whenever it gets colder or rains. My birds go crazy. Animals seem to have some sort of crazy sense.

Monty just sits and looks out the window when it rains. like he's sad that he can't go out and play. :(
