I am loving the new Whitney Houston release, Higher Love. I did a "say what!" too when I heard it on the radio last week. Apparently this was supposed to be on her third album, but got scratched because it was a cover. Instead of just releasing the 1989 version, they got Kygo to update the song. He did a great job! Must admit, I really do miss that voice.

Never heard this cover, only Steve Winwood's original. I like almost anything Whitney!! Winwood is great also.

Agree. I like Winwood's version with Chaka Khan. Great memories of listening to that in the car on the way home from school.

Awesome song--and that whole CD is awesome.

2 things about that song:

1. Written by Mike Reid, who was an all-pro defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals before he gave it up to go into music full time;

2. Reid got the idea for the song after reading a news article about a guy who shot up his girlfriend's car. Before the judge sentenced the guy, he asked the guy if he learned anything from the incident. The guy said he learned you can't make a woman love you if she don't.
