How do YOU feel about the music played on Castaway Cay??

  • An essential part of the CC experience!

  • Enjoyable, but I could live without it.

  • I can take it or leave it.

  • Mildly annoying, but I can handle it.

  • Next cruise, I'm bringing wire cutters!

  • What music?!

On our first cruise, we were walking down the main path when I heard one of the CM's say to another "Music's down this morning". It wasn't until we returned from the adult beach that I realized what he meant -- the music was back on.

How do YOU feel about the music played on CC?

The tape played at the adult beach is way too short, so it becomes very repetitive and annoying if you are in a chair near the bar. Either make it a looooong tape or get rid of it. There's only so many times you can stand to hear the same song over and over.
D. J. or live music is fine because it's not repetitive. And I love the Calypso version of "Under the Sea" on the tram. I have that as the ring for my cell phone.

Wow!

Now that I think about it.... the island is great but what they need is like a steeldrum band... maybe in a certain section. I know I woud have grabbed a conk cooler and boogied with my hubby! I don't remember piped in music. The beach is so big, they have some options there. I would have LOVED to dance with my DH and maybe my kids on Castaway Cay. Lovely weather, great food, great drinks, atmosphere.... "wasting away again in Margaritiville..." or some songs like that.....

Good question... Disney Cruise Line take note.......

i agree with Pizzie Duster, we need more 'island' than pop tune deejay music. We can have deejay nonsense anywhere. And like, ok, with deejay music, where's the club? hm?

I'm the wirecutters vote. I just find it obnoxious.

Wow! So many people don't know it's there?! Maybe it isn't anymore! But no, Barb for sure would know if it were gone.

The music I'm talking about was played along the main path near Cookies where most of the buildings are. I don't think you would hear it from the beach.

My only complaint is that this past January they played the same 2 Jimmy Buffett songs over and over and over and over again at Serenity Bay -- :yo-yo: :yo-yo: :yo-yo: . I swear they were trying to get us to LEAVE the beach!!!

But I must say that DH and I get a HUGE kick out of the music they play on the tram. It reminds us of The Simpsons making fun of Disney music with "Who left the milk out? YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!" -- to the tune of "Who let the dogs out?" I love the cute variations of the popular music. It's funny!

Being a parrothead I truly enjoy the Jimmy Buffett played at Serenity Bay, but I agree with Barb, the tape is too short so it becomes too repetitive even for me :sunny:

The music at serenity bay can only be heard if you are over near the bar area. It's definitely a lot of Buffet (which I enjoy) but it does get a bit repetitive. You cannot hear the music further up the beach.

As for the dance music over by the family beach area, that is done by a CM DJ most of the time so it's not quite as repetitive.

One thing I like about Serenity Bay is being able to just lie on the beach listening to Jimmy Buffet and other Island songs with no worries!

It's part of the CC experience! Last time we were there, my DH went to take our tubes back and I was sitting on a bench, people watching. "Summer Lovin'" from Grease came on, and every single person who walked by me was singing! It cracked me up! :hyper:

I'm the other one who's bringing the wire cutters. I spend all my time on the adult beach. I love Jimmy Buffet but enough is enough. At least for part of the day I would just like to enjoy the quiet peacefulness of being on a private island.

We like Jimmy Buffet a lot, too BUT there is only so much we were able to handle of the same two songs on repeat. UGH!!! The music really does add to the ambience. We just caught them on a bad day! Ahhhh, the music does take me back...:cool2:
