Does anyone else download music or movies from the internet??

If so, are they movies/CDs that you intend to buy, so you're just checking them out until they're released?

Or are they ones that you'd rather not spend the money on?

What kind of downloads are you referring to? Like on KaZaA? I've downloaded a few on there and watched them. The quality is usually very poor. Its also difficult to find a valid file to download. Movie industry folks have put up thier own "fake" files in order to combat the file sharing problem.

As for music, I've downloaded TONS on the old Napster and now on KaZaA. I find that a lot of the songs that I download are old ones from my teenage years that I actually had on cassette years ago. I download newer stuff, too. My goal is to turn my computer into a full-functioning jukebox. :D

I like to make my own mix of music. If I liked a particular CD then I'd buy it rather than downloading the whole thing.

I use KaZaA. Sometimes I convert movies to MPG format, burn them and watch them on our DVD player. Sometimes I just watch them on the computer.

The quality isn't as good as at the theatre, but you get what you pay for.

I don't download movies, but I do download music.

If I like the songs, I'll check out what the band's about & what the rest of the CD sounds like & I'll usually buy it.

If a band contributes money to political groups that I don't agree with, I'll either download the CD or buy it used to make sure that my money doesn't go to the band (& the political groups).

I guess what I really should have asked was if anyone feels guilty downloading them. As far as music, we either like it and go out and buy it or delete it if we don't like it. But there are some things that we only want 1-2 songs and don't like the rest so why bother spending the money on a whole CD?

More recently we've started getting some movies, and I sometimes feel bad watching them. For example....we found an EXCELLENT copy of The Two Towers and have watched it everyday this weekend. I don't feel too bad however because I've seen it in the theater 3 times and plan on buying it on DVD. BUT my kids love Scooby Doo....we found it, downloaded it, and I probably will never buy it now.

I down load music too...I wouldn't at first felt it was "wrong" but then realized most of the music I either already have or when out and bought it because I was able to listen to it first!...
I also liked to find all of the one hit wonders of my youth! LOL

I haven't attempted the Movies I figure if your not out selling it or making copies and giving it away to others or selling then do what you feel is right....

I know one day the "internet police" will be at my door and I'll have to account for all of the music I have downloaded!..(oh, my guilty conscience! LOL

Holycow

85% of the bands I listen to are pro mp3 & I also download files that just aren't available for purchase anymore, so no, no guilt for me. :)
