Hi all. I'm hoping that some of you can provide some help on my music situation. I went for my planning session on Dec. 19th. I told Marion that I would like to have the big band for our entertainment. She said that she'd work on finding out the details to see if they were free, etc.
Fast forward to last week. I get an email from Linda telling me that Marion JUST emailed the entertainment director to get the information I requested.
So, I'm freaking out. It took her a month to send an email to this person?!?!
I just try to calm down, I know that there are a ton of us getting married.
I'm just one person....
But, I'm less than 5 months away and I don't have a band, DJ, nothing!
Should I start looking for outside entertainment? The wish book made it seem as if there is a band that they use. But Marion indicated that they would have to find one for me. Has anyone else had this experience? I'd appreciate any advice!
Thanks :scared:

Take a deep breath and try to relax. I had my Planning Session at the end of July 2004 and my custom vow renewal was held at the end of October 2004. That was three months. Within that time-frame an entire custom vow renewal was thrown together. That included the hiring of a pianist who played during my cocktail party, a band who played during my dinner party, and a DJ who played during my outdoor dance party. My Event Manager handled everything seamlessly and completely without my help. I basically stated what I wanted during my Planning Session (or shortly afterwards) and that was that.

Background info: My custom VR was held inside the Wedding Pavilion and my dinner party was held after-hours inside the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park. Click here to see some of my photos (one of these days I'll post more -- at least that's what I keep telling myself). Okay, I just realized that I never got around to putting photos of the pianist or band into my on-line photo album - yikes! - so here's a link to a video slide show that I think they're in: click here.

Contact your Event Manager and calmly voice your concerns. See what you can do to help move things along. But please remember that your Event Manager is working on other weddings and vow renewals that are equally as important as your own, and some of those events are happening sooner than yours is. Please be kind in your dealings with the Fairy Tale Weddings folks.

Keep us posted. I hope you get everything sorted out quickly so that you can enjoy these next couple of months. Time passes so quickly. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

Janet2K- Thank you so much for your reply! It definately calmed me down. Your pictures and the movie were beautiful. It was so great to be able to see the Movie Ride as a venue- it's one of my favorites!

As so far as the band situation. I refrained from calling my planner (just in case my nerves turned into anger while on the phone with her:rolleyes1 ). So, now that I'm settled, I'm going to call and just explain that I'm just a little nervous- hopefully she can reassure me like you did!
Thanks again!:bride:

DisBride23, I'm glad I was able to help a little bit. I know how nerve-wracking planning from a distance can be. Hopefully, the next time you speak with your Event Manager, she will have some good news for you. Please keep us posted.

Well, good news. I spoke with my planner today and she told me that we will definately have a band. They are just working out the details to see which band it will be. She told me that Disney used to have the entertainment in house, but due to the downsizing in the past couple of years, they now have to contract out for bands. Either way, I'm just happy to hear that we will have someone there! :yay: Thanks for your help- I try not to panic too much, but it gets the best of me sometimes!:rolleyes1

DisBride23 - we had Marion as our planner and even though I didn't deal directly with her most of the time, the times I did she made sure our concerns were heard and taken care of. Her assistant is AMAZING!! :thumbsup2 I can't say enough wonderful things about Linda. When I was talking to Linda about 2 weeks before our wedding, she told me they had 150 weddings booked (just for the 2 wedding planners she works with) in the next year. So, know that you are just one of those. But yours is no less important than the next one. They just have to try to prioritize things according to which wedding is coming up soonest. What a bummer that they had to cut the inside entertainment. I always hoped we'd be able to have the mariachi band from Mexico play at our wedding. We didn't have the money for that this time, but maybe for our 10 year VR. Here's hoping....:) And good luck on your planning. It will all turn out wonderful!!! Tell Linda, Diane and Andrew say hi and she did a wonderful job!!! :goodvibes

DisBride23, that is wonderful news. It sounds like things are moving along. I'm glad to hear that.
