I got it!!!!! It's in MP3 format but I'm pretty sure we can make it into a midi and create the sheet music from there. DF is off from work tomorrow so I'd venture to guess that he can get it done by tomorrow evening (Again, there I am speaking for him! ). I'll keep you updated on the process!!

Hey Karen...just wanted to let you know that we haven't had a lot of luck converting that mp3 to a midi but we haven't given up yet! He's on his computer right now and I'm on mine...we're looking for a better program for that type of conversion. I really want to get this done for you...I promise...we will not give up without a fight!

OMG! You are not going to believe this but DF has actually taken out his guitar and is try to replicate the song on his own!! Isn't he amazing???? I hope we can get this for you...I really do!

Oh my gosh, I'm getting teary eyed. I am just in awe of the fact that complete 'strangers' are going through this much trouble to help us out. I cannot even begin to tell you how much this means to us. Seriously, though, please don't go out of your way! I feel just awful!

Not yet...but it's not going well either. I was really hoping I'd have some better news for you today but it's just not looking good. DF wants to still try to work on it throughout the weekend though. We did manage to convert it to a midi but it was REALLY awful! It's just too bad we couldn't find a good midi version of it already. I looked all yesterday for one while he worked with the mp3. I just know how I would feel if there was song that i wanted so badly but couldn't get. I think he still wants to try and write it himself (he can already play it on the guitar!) but he said the piece was much more difficult than he thought...then again my man always loves a challenge!

Ugh...after about 6 solid hrs of working on this today (and about 4 hrs yesterday), it just wasn't happening. Joe could convert the mp3 but because it was such a complicated orchestral piece the programs we tried would just jumble everything up. Converting from mp3 to midi is extremely complicated (and until recently, impossible) since the mediums are so different. Joe thought that he could sort through the mess and pull out the melody but it was more difficult than he anticipated, it just never sounded right. He was able to replicate the basic melody alone on his guitar and would probably be able to create the sheet music for just that part but it would never do justice to the song. I don't think it would be at all be you wanted. I'm so sorry...we really tried. If you happen to come across a midi for the song, just let me know and we'll get that sheet music for you right away but I know you don't have too much time now. I'll also continue to search for a midi (who knows...new stuff pops up on the internet every day!)...at any rate...I know your ceremony will be just perfect with or without the song and I can't wait to hear all about it!

I cannot begin to thank you enough for trying! It is just so incredibly sweet. Can I please give you something to thank you for your time and effort??? DF and I just spent 5 hours so far today scouring the internet, calling music stores, etc... and we haven't found anything. DF found a James Newton Howard message board (which is the person that composed the piece) and it says that there isn't any sheet music available? I'm just totally bummed! I actually went to the extent of emailing the webmaster of disneyworld.com to see if they had a midi file since they put the song on the website. I know, I'm totally stretching!!!

Oh my...wouldn't that be awesome if they emailed you back and said they had the midi???? I know how badly you must want this song...and maybe, somehow, the magic of Disney will prevail! I saw that website too saying there was no available sheet music. I just don't know? And yes, there is something you can give me...a detailed TR when you get back because I can't wait to hear all about your big day!!!

I don't think so? It's not from Finding Neverland. It's from some motion picture movie called Peter Pan. If I knew enough about music I'd try to play that to see, but I don't think that's it. Thanks for trying!!!!!!

Karen I found "I Do Believe in Fairies" and "Flying" in MP3 format. Will that help?

It just seems so strange to me that the organist wouldn't already be familiar with the song. Is it not possible to send them the MP3, and have them tell you if they know it/can figure it out? Sometimes musicians can "fake it" pretty good!

Another thought - I think the orchestration is a big part of the impact. Don't you think it would lose something if it was stripped down to just an organ? Maybe I'm wrong...

I was thinking that too! It wouldn't get the same effect with just a monotone organ/piano sound...

Thanks, Laura! Could you please link me to where you found those? I already sent Diane to a site with the MP3, but she said they tried to convert it to a Midi so they could create the sheet music and it wouldn't work. However, if we do decide to do the CD, I will need to download the MP3.
