MUSH! Going to Alaska - August 19, 2013 7 Night from Vancouver

Hello everyone.

I've been reading this thread for awhile now hoping that we'd be joining you all. I finally booked today and couldn't be more excited!! :cool1:

We are definitely in for the FE and Facebook page.

Our group is DH and myself, DS - Joshua (who will be turning 19 on the 24th during the cruise) and DD - Natasha (17). DH and I have sailed Disney before but this will be the kids first experience. And yes, we had great fun without them but I'm certainly looking forward to sharing the fun with them this time!!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Liz

My 12 yr old nephew and I will be on this cruise. I have cruised to Alaska before but never on DCL. This will be the 1st cruise for my nephew. Looking forward to finding out what activities he can get involved in on the ship, and what shore excursions tweens like to do. :yay:

Hi Liz! Have you gotten connected with the Facebook page yet? You can PM me if not and I'll friend you and invite you.

My 12 yr old nephew and I will be on this cruise. I have cruised to Alaska before but never on DCL. This will be the 1st cruise for my nephew. Looking forward to finding out what activities he can get involved in on the ship, and what shore excursions tweens like to do. :yay:

Hi! :welcome: My 12 yr old daughter is very excited to go to the tween club and she's an animal lover, so all the wildlife will be right up her alley! We are hoping to do some whale watching and maybe take the White Pass Railway too. Or perhaps the sled dog summer camp - again, she loves animals. My 10 yr old does too, but not quite to the same extreme.
It will be fun for sure!

How about we do both? You collect on the Dis and I'll collect on Facebook and we can combine them when it gets closer. That way we'll get the people who only use one or the other :)
My wife and kids (son age 15, daughter will be 10) are excited to be going on this cruise. None of us has been to Alaska.

Although this is our third Disney cruise, I don't yet have enough messages to send a PM. So would you send me a message with what I need to do to join the Facebook page.

Thanks,
Jordan

Jordan - I sent you a PM about the FB group. My 10 year old daughter will be happy to hear there's another girl her age!

Just booked my excursions last night! I decided to make some one on one time with my kids. So my 10 year old ds and I will be doing the Adventure Park and Zipline excursion whil the other 2 stay on the ship. Then my 8 year old ds and I will be panning for Gold together while the other two stay on the ship. Then my 5 year old dd and I will be doing the dog sled summer camp together while the other stay stay onboard. It will be great to do these one on one things with the kids and it will greatly cut down overall costs. Then as a family, we will all be doing the lumberjack show.

I also booked Palo brunch for when we are sailing through Tracey Arm. However, right now my reservation is for 1 because one family traveling with us are silver and for the other family, this is their first DCL cruise. So neither can book yet. I hope we can all have brunch together that day but I'm not holding my breath!

I really need to get my flights booked next!

Is there a place we can look at the Disney excursions and their price before our date comes up to book them online?

Yes on the DCL website you can log in and look at "Port Adventures" and put in the port you are interested in. I can't remember the exact way, but generally: Once you click on each one, it shows the prices. You can save them and then book them when your date arrives.

We booked brunch on Tracy Arm day too. And we have asimiliar dilema - 3 of us booked last night, 2 are silver and 2 are first timers so hoping we can re-arrange once we get on board to all have brunch together.

If it helps with Palo brunches....on our last cruise one of the group booed the private room. I'm not sure what all the rules are but we had a group of 12+ and it was lovely.

Found this on a different thread and thought I'd share...

3/23/13

For the 2013 Alaska Cruises on Disney Wonder, instead of the usual Pirates IN the Caribbean Deck Party, these sailings will have a special
Pixar Pals Party.

This will be an unforgettable meet and greet the Pixar Pals. Some of your favorite pals, including Buzz Lightyear and Woody, will be on hand
to spend some quality time with Guests in the ship’s atrium, Deck 3, Mid-ship. This offering concludes with an interactive sing along to the
signature song, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me".

For additional information, please refer to your Personal Navigator once onboard.

We look forward to sailing with you and your family again!

Have a Magical Day!

In case anyone is interested, the formal night is on Day 2 (Tuesday, Day at Sea) and the semi-formal is on Day 6 (Saturday, Ketchikan).

I already book ours, privately, saved a bunch of money! Feels like it is starting to get close!

Is there a particular site you went to? I'd like to do an air excursion but with four of us it gets pricey.

I researched onlineand found wings airlines, we are doing the flight only, no landing or lunch because we want to spend time in town as well that day. It is $600 for 2 adults and 1 11 yar old.
Pm me if you want more details, but the language on the website was exactly the same as on the dcl site, so guessing maybe even the same company.

Thanks. Sounds like similar pricing to what I found. We might just decide on the day we get there what to do depending on energy levels and weather conditions :)

I've been researching excursions all day and found this vacation video on YouTube. Looks like it is the same time of year we will be there too. It is quite well done! Getting excited!!
