Have not read all the threads on the other pages so forgive me if this is a repeat question. For those of you who have been on the Mummy how is it. I read in another thread it was not that bad as costers go but I am not a person who rides coasters. In fact I hve been on Jurassic Park only once and could not do it again. Would it be worth it for me to jsut go through the wait area and then tell them I do not want to go on the ride. I would at least like to see the inside since I am a big fan of Egyptian art and design. Also what do they have in the gift shop? Any good Egyptian jewelry?

Hi,
Well I am going on it tomorrow because I finally got passes and now I am going to go back after a year (and I live in FL which is sad). So I will be sure to let you know. I mean i know it is a roller coaster type of ride so it is probably going to do some round-a-bout things like say the hulk, but I do not have full knowledge so I will not say. I just will make sure I keep you informed once I get back unless someone takes care of that problem. All I know is it breaks down twice a day so if you get the feeling of being closed in for long periods of time then fair warning.....it hasn't been perfected yet but I don't care.

There is a coaster part, but it's really short. Have you been on rocking roller coaster? It's comparable to that, but not as much coaster in it. Does that make sense?

Definitely worth 1 try to see if you like it.

The ride is very fun, and the queue is great too. Take the time, if you can, to explore all the intracies of the queue. The attention to detail in there is truly amazing.

If you can't do JP then you shouldn't try Mummy. It has a similar drop (not as far) in the dark. I think you can do the queue and bail at the last second. I asked a peasant at DD if I could do the queue and chicken out and he said that the peasants would point at me, taunt me and laugh so I didn't.

Are you serious?? I have been avoiding JP since it opened because I hate steep drops but I can ride the Rocknrollercoaster and Mummy all day long. are you saying the drop is not as bad as I have been thinking?? I rode splash mtn once and hated it btw. is the angle more of a slope, or straight down? (sorry to interupt the conversation with my questions) and also, the Mummy is not too bad. it go's kinda fast with a few dips and down a sorta big curve but no gut wrenching drops, but I did yell alot on it :D

JUst back and rode mummy 4 times..... I loved it.....one of my all time favorites..... I do not like the rocken roller coaster...bangs my neck to much.......but I do love Jurassic park drop.......mummy is the best .......it is right up there with the best...have fun...:earseek: amy

JP and Splashmountain still scare me. ( I still ride both of them though because I love everything else about the rides--just hate that big drop).

Mummy's drops don't scare me because they are not straight down but veer sharply to the right or left.

JP has a 85 ft drop. :earseek: Splash Mountain's drop is only 50 ft. The mummy drop isn't nearly as steep as either.

I agree with Motherfletcher. If JP is too much then the Mummy will be too.

I don't see any problem with doing the queue line and then bailing out. I'm sure you won't be the first.

I don't remember much in the way of Egyptian jewelry in Sahara Traders, but they do have replicas of Egyptian statues and artifacts, including King Tut's golden throne for several thousand bucks! The merchandise mix will probably change as they figure out what people want and what sells. And Egyptian style jewelry seems a natural. I know they feature a lot of it at the shops in the Egypt section of Busch Gardens Tampa.

Bella-
Let me try to qualify my recommendation for you not to ride the Mummy if:
1. You are not a coaster person and
2. If you won't ride JP again.

I got sick from riding the Mummy. I'm not sure if it was the 1+G acceleration 45' launch at 25 degrees slope or the other 6 near G points but the 25 degree, 25 foot drop felt to me like falling straight down . I took Dramamine and still got nauseous.
I have done the Hulk and Kraken on Dramamine with nothing more than discumbobulated sideways walking. I can do the longest, fastest and steepest 85' JP drop without blinking.
Don't get me wrong- I'm scared on every ride (I get scared riding with my wife) but sick is a little different. Tower of Terror and BTTF make me sick too.

Metallicat-
If you don't like Splash then don't do JP or Journey to Atlantis. Do you do the logs at Ripsaw?

Do you think it made you feel sick because it was dark, so couldn't see when the drops were about to happen? Or is the ride undulating up down up down as if over little bridges with lots of twists and turns - so like the backseat of a car with someone who is driving through the countryside, along lanes which are up and down and bendy?

Ripsaw, no way! there is something about a straight down drop that takes my breath. I like the RnR (Disney studios) even though the take off is a bit much, I do it because I like the music :D
Its not that I don't want to ride the big ones like TOT or JP, I just cannot stand the sensation of falling. wish I could get over it b/c I know I'm missing out on some great rides. I don't consider the Mummy nearly as intense as RnR b/c there are no steep drops.

Selina-
Yeah, the dark is a biggie and bumpy backseat thing are part of it. In addition the tracks are sanded so they are really quiet. They have something like 200 speakers and I'm getting old. What can I say?

Metallicat-
We do a lot for rock and roll!:rockband:

Ripsaw is worse than JP with the second hump.

The drops on Mummy are nothing like the drops on SplashMountain, Dudley, or Jurassic Park. Those go straight down and scare me also as I hate big drops. Mummy doesn't go straight down. But yes, there is a "quease factor" on Mummy. I don't get sick on the big drops like JP, Dudley, and Splash. They scare me though becuase of the drop.

I do get queasy on BTTF, MIB, Spiderman, Dueling Dragons, Hulk, Space Mountain, ToT, Mission Space, Tea Cups, and Mummy although none of these rides scare me.

If you don't get queasy on rides, you should be fine. If you are only worried about the drops in Mummy, I would give it a try as it is quite different than SM and JP.

I remember the early posts on the mummy and a lot said it was "very smooth". But you reckon it's bumpy.
Dm reckoned it had a sickie factor of 1-2 out of 5..............5 being BTTF, 1....being for example ET..... 2...possibly MIB.
Can you give it your rating?

1.......can ride again and again, loved it.
2.......feel a bit queasy, but enjoyed it and will ride again later.
3.......feel queasy and a bit shaky - your stomach not so keen, but will probably ride again as you enjoyed the effects maybe tomorrow.
4.......Feel sick, shaky and have to sit down somewhere for a while to recover.
5.......Sick. Throw up all over the place. Watch out everyone. Shakey, have to lie down for at least a couple of hours to recover!!
I think the thread was something like that!

I haven't had the priviledge of escaping from The Mummy yet but Ooooooooohhhhhhh, I can't wait for February! All these posts are making me soooooo excited. I'm almost as excited for the gift shop as for the ride!

Anyhoo, I think I am similar to phantom in the quesy department. I am prone to motion sickness but usually not severe. The worst I've ever been is a 4 and the only time that happened was on Hanna Barbarra. I know that sounds so lame but I had to sit for 20 minutes on a bench while I "de-greened". I never stepped foot on it again. I'm usually a 3 on BTTF, Spiderman, Body Wars, Star Wars or any other stationary motion ride. 2 or 3 (only on dragons) on all the roller coasters. A 1 on all the flumes/water rides or drop rides but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING could keep me from riding this ride. Mission Space on the other hand has got me frightened to death of becoming a 4 or 5 again!

I am the biggest wimp there is and felt the mummy was WAY more intense than mission space. you cannot tell you are spinning at all (or at least I couldn't tell) I rode it (mission space) 3 times in a row and felt it was rather boring. I promise you, it is not that bad. I screamed alot more on the mummy :p
