Mummy soft openings started today!!!

Any idea how the baby swap will work? We'd all want to go through the queue once, but didn't know if, with the baby swap, one of us would have to skip the regular line to meet the rest of the family at the end to switch off.

Thanks for the heads up for the time it was open today. Is the speculation that it will be open next week, also (Sun-Tues to be specific)?

T&B....I like the Mummy and GB Show for different reasons....can't compare! LOL Hot guys....or cool ride....I wouldn't miss another Ghostbusters Show to ride it again, but I don't regret doing that today at all.

Anyway, here is a funny story:

I went on Mummy. I was by myself, and they had not allowed for Single Riders at the time (dangit!). So I was stuck in the regular line for 30 + minutes.

I got up to the front, and a single rider got in front of me, and was sent to the first row. I then was sent to th first row. I watched, amused as the guy in front of her stared her down...tried to look scary. He kept asking her, "Is this scary enough?"

I then looked at the guy at the controls, to my right, and noticed he was doing the same to ME! This guy had the evil stare down much better than the other guy...kinda creepy. LOL I tried to ignore it, but looked back, and saw he was still staring at me. Again, tried to ignore it. Then I heard, "Even your Ghostbusters can't save you now..." That's when I realized this person knew who I was! I looked at the nametag. Turned out it was phamton's son!!!

If this was earlier in the thread and I skimmed over, I apologize, but did anyone see any younger kids on the ride. Was it the 48" height requirement, and was it too intense for younger kids. I realize kids are all different, but just your opinions.

That depends. If anyone in the party is under 48", then your party is split up front. Those going to ride first enter, those waiting go up the exit, into the waiting area.

If everyone in your party is 48+" , then whomever is not riding simply uses the chicken exit while everyone else boards.

Jake is under 48" so I suppose that we'll be split if we are lucky enough to have it open. Hey, I'm not complaining!

How many kids would get to reride with the parent who has been waiting with the baby swap child?

That is funny! He got you good. I really need to bring my 16yo daughter to the Ghostbusters show. My husband can do something else with our boys if he wants to.

Rocketman and I meet up in the parking lot and started walking in. When we noticed people walking into the Paradise theatre we started to run for the ride. I'm glad that I took the time and went over there it is totally awesome. I really didn't notice where they could put some of the missing pieces it was some what not noticable. From following the thread that is on IOACentral I know where they belong though. I do agree Slackin, they need to slow it down a little after the scarab scene everything really flys by too fast and you can't see what is happening around you. I can't wait until this afternoon....

I saw lots and lots of kids last night who came off the ride. They were all smiling and laughing about how cool it was. Several were begging their parents to ride again. I didn't see any child crying. I didn't see any very young kids most were around 8-10 years old but did see a few who were around 6-7 years old.

I would say if your kids are scared on Tower of Terror, Jaws, Twister, Horror Makeup show, Rock 'N Roller Coaster, Space Mountain, or Haunted Mansion, then I wouldn't let them ride. If they can take these rides and shows, then the Mummy ought to be fine.

Wow, sure are a lot of people here who have already ridden and the soft openings have only been on for one day! Do you guys have some kind of warning system in place to spread the news of the openings! Wish I was there, this is all so exciting.

Great news, finally, the excitement begins.

Still can't believe they don't have an opening date, since the ride is working, minus a few effects.

They're basically doing what Disney did with Mission Space. Open it for the public, with no guarantees. Disney didn't have a grand opening for MS. USF needs to have a big opening for the Mummy. I mean, in reality, yesterday was it, March 29th. Yet there was no big celebration, and the media won't cover it. I guess that will happen on Media day.

I just read the article on Jimhillmedia...but I have a quick question. Is the 'roller coaster' part of it more similar to Rock-n-Roller coaster or Big Thunder Mountain?

I know there are no inversionso n ROTM...but the only coaster I can really 'do' is Big Thunder Mountatin...(I feel like I'm going to fall out of space mountain)...do you think I'd be able to handle the coaster part of this?

I would compare it to Space mountain type coaster with one fairly fast launch. It does go backwards for a short time.

I seldom ride rollercoasters, and when I do, I keep my eyes closed during the entire ride. I had decided, though, that when the Mummy ride opened, I would ride it once, just so I would know what it was like. On Monday afternoon, my daughter FLyfly called me on her cell phone to let me know she had ridden the Mummy, so my husband and I headed over. And, even though I am not a coaster person, I absolutely loved this ride! And I didn't close my eyes once! My husband thought the ride was great too!
