Mum and moi take Orlando: the never-ending trip report (aka we are nuts) NEW 5/20 x4!!!

April 26th (part 1): #monoraildisaster2014 and the #megmegminetrainwatch

We got to the TTC and went up the Express ramp. We made it to the top and then everything just crapped out. Monorail yellow was pulling in and couldn’t even make it into the station. It was just sitting there. It made it in after about 10 minutes but then only one door per car would open. I have never seen something so ridiculous in my entire life. People were climbing over the seats with strollers and I was just standing there shaking my head. And people ask why we don’t like monorail yellow.

Resort went down at the same time. They had to pull Yellow and Peach to maintenance and we had to wait for another monorail to come. And it didn’t sound so great when we were on it.

I was live tweeting this whole thing with the tag #monoraildisaster2014. This is why you should follow moi on Twitter. You get good stuff like this on your timeline.

Anyways, when we finally made it to MK, we went to Frontierland to get a spot for FoF. I really don’t like watching the parade from Frontierland. There is just something about Main St that makes FoF 1000000x better.

I said that I was just going to sit and enjoy the parade today without taking pictures, but Mum wanted to use my camera and take some. I was questioning this, but I just put it on aperture priority mode and gave it to her.

Now, she didn’t realize that there was something on my lens and never wiped it off, so I am sorry that the left side of these pictures are cloudy.

And there will be only like five pictures because of reasons. The ones I am going to post are good, but the rest of them were not that fantastic. And I will just end that there….

And that is that……

We had a FP to use for Space so we followed the parade over there.

Mum has never liked Space because she finds it jerky, but she actually enjoyed it.

I just love the woman in the back of our car. She is really #livinitup.
And my legs look really tan for some reason.

We had a FP to use for the Laugh Floor, and guys, don’t even bother. You just enter through another line and wait the same exact time. It is kind of ridiculous.

We went over to 7DMT just to see what was going on. See if they were testing or anything.

Oh, they were testing alright!

We got over there and we were like “what in god’s name is that.”

We had no clue what this was. There was one Imagineer and several guys from a construction company. I googled the name and they have worked on a TON of Disney projects before.

There was a big crowd forming and we all just stood there and didn’t know what was going on. We overheard some people in the crowd saying that the mine cars aren’t swinging as much as they wanted, and that is what they were working on. But then a lot of people thought it was to see how far a guest could reach outside of the car and what they could touch. But wouldn’t they do that, in like, the beginning? I don’t know anything about building a ride, but that just seems weird to me if they did that then, a month before opening.

We even had a maintenance guy that was walking around with a group of CMs come over and we overheard him talking about the swinging of the cars so I have no clue.

We may or may not have stood there for an hour watching them doing this….

The guy next to me was talking to the Imagineer and she said that they were very proud of the ride and especially the cars themselves, as they are very cool and detailed.

They would pull the car along and then put a break on it whenever they wanted it to stop. They forgot the break was on and they pulled it and the wood on the back of the car started to crack and pulled up. Of course there we are screaming “STOP THE CAR!!!!” with about 20 other people.

The car was going into the mine and so we decided to leave, since it already had been an hour.

I was live tweeting the whole thing and that is when someone created #megmegminetrainwatch. THE PERFECTION!​

April 26th (part 2): In which I go photo crazy on Main St

I was hungry after the epic #megmegminetrainwatch, so we went to Cosmic Rays and got burgers. Shocker, I know.

After we ate, I took some pictures around Fantasyland and Main St.

Sorry not sorry for the MK photo spam. I know you enjoyed it.

We took Express to the TTC. Surprisingly, we actually made it into the station.​

May 1st: MGM25 fireworks!

We all know that MGM is my least favorite park. We hadn’t been since December and that wasn’t a problem for me. But when they said there would be fireworks at MGM for the 25th anniversary, I knew we had to go because fireworks at MGM are a very rare occasion. So we YOLO-ed it up and went to MGM.

I totally forgot that the back entrance to MGM on Buena Vista Dr wasn’t open. We went that way and we were like “oh.” They had a detour and it brought us all over creation. It was ridiculous. We weren’t even on Disney property at one point and we were in the middle of like a cow farm. And then I saw these little signs on the side of the road that you could barely read with the MGM25 logo that said “you are almost there!”

What.

The detour took about 15 minutes and we FINALLY made it.

And can we talk about how you can see backstage and there are floats from the Pixar parade back there?!

It was almost 8:30 at this time, so when we got into the park, I had to set up the tripod.

Our friend Matt, who had been at MGM all day, came over and stood with us.

With never seeing this show before, I am happy with these pictures. Like, with Wishes, I know exactly when to press the shutter because I have seen the show so many times. Going into this, I had no clue when they would be sending the fireworks off.

The firework show itself was awesome. They had different sequences for different attractions at MGM and it was really cool. And can we talk about how they did a Cars sequence? Yeah.

They even had fireworks that were 2s and 5s and that was awesome.

I packed up my tripod and we said bye to Matt. And then we headed on home.​

May 3rd (part 1): The same old things

I had a photo assignment for my photography class at school to work on so we went to MK. I had to take a lot of detail pictures and textures, so that was fun. I will include some of them here.

Wet texture FTW.

Of course stuffed animals made it into my assignment.

We made our way down Main St and they were doing the Rainy Day parade instead of Move it! Shake it! Someone shoot me! and THANK GOD! And plus that music is really catchy so it was all good.

And then we went to 7DMT (LOLOLOL) and they were testing!!!

The planters were down BOO YA!

We went around the side of 7DMT (going towards JOTLM) and I took some more pictures for my assignment.

AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW I COULD SEE THE INTERACTIVE QUEUE CAUSE YEAH.

My fellow DISer/twitter friend Shelly was at MK on this day and she wanted to meet up so we met up in front of 7DMT and talked for a little bit. It was great to see her!

After our DISmeet, we went to Storybook Treats and got a soft serve ice cream because WHY NOT.

Then we went to Main St and got a spot for FoF.

We saved some room for someone that we were meeting up with. If you remember WAY back to December, we went to the Osborne Lights one night and some random guy let us use his umbrella because it was raining outside and…. That’s who we were meeting up with. Umbrella Guy. His real is Scott and him and Mum have emailed I guess since December—I don’t even know—and he was down at Disney for the weekend to do the Everest Challenge and it was just him so he wanted to hang out. Whatever.

It was Scott’s first time seeing FoF and he loved it. Well of course!

I can’t.

The three of us walked around the park after the parade, pointing out things to Scott aka Disney details he hadn’t seen before.

I took some more pictures for my assignment in Storybook Circus and then we hopped on the train.

We got off at Main St and went into the Emporium because Scott wanted to buy something.

We then went to the Lunching Pad and got some cream cheese pretzels and drinks to snack on. We sat in Cosmic Rays.

Scott had to get going to get ready for the Everest Challenge so we said bye and made our way over to Adventureland so I could work on my assignment some more.

Moving on…

I wanted to pay a visit to go see my 999 BFFs so that is exactly what we did.

My house is nicely decorated.

May 3rd (part 3): GET YO (plastic) JEWELS, KIDS

I love this window so much when you exit. It is so clean and nice. I don’t even know…

Then we paid some awesome bathrooms a visit.

We made our way over to Storybook Circus so I could look for pins.

But on the way over, I peeked into the mine at 7DMT and I COULD SEE THE DOPEY AA AND I ALMOST PEED MYSELF.

I am sorry for the crap pics but I had a giant bush in the way and the only way you could see it was if you got on the ground sooo. BUT STILL.

I pin traded and then we split a plain caramel apple. It was yummay.

We had a FP for Pooh so we went to go visit my food-lovin’ pal.

May 10th (part 1): Alien Flynn, god awfulness, and rants

Mum wanted to go to MGM.

I looked at her like she had two heads.

Like, we were just there. So what the crap.

But we went anyways. Cause that is really what I wanted to do with my Saturday.

We looked in some of the shops on Hollywood Blvd.

They still had a ton of merch from MGM25.

INCLUDING DUFFSTER!

We made our way outside and over to Min and Bill’s.

I saw on twitter the new pineapple shake that they had and I wanted to try it.

It was good, but very thick and filling.

While we sat there are drank our shake, we got to listen to the awesomeness that is the American Idol Experience. We were really #livinitup.

I had had enough of listening to people who were on American Idol say crap like “GO AUDITION! YOU WON’T REGRET IT!” so we went over to the Animation Building.

We got in line for a class and I didn’t think we were going to make it in, but they had two spots in the back. But we were in the corner sitting on this little couch with the lapboards and I could see perfectly fine. But since Mum is blind, she had a very hard time seeing the screen.

We were drawing Flynn and I couldn’t look over at Mum’s board because every time I would, I would laugh so hard because of how hers was coming out.

It was worth it though because we won the animator’s drawing!

My Flynn looks like he had one too many cupcakes from Starring Rolls, Mum’s Flynn is Alien Flynn, and of course, perfection is up in the corner.

Our friend Linda ended up being in the same animation class as us! We talked to her after it got over.

We said bye and then we walked over to Beauty and the Beast. Why we did, I don’t know.

Now, I can’t remember the last time I saw this show, if ever. I know some people love it, but I have my opinions aka what else is new.

Here are some pictures and then I will say my thoughts, cause we all love those.

Now, let me just say that the people in this show are very talented. Disney hires some great entertainment performers and I give them props for that. But, it isn’t the performers’ faults that they are in this dated god awful production. If you look at other productions Disney has, you ask yourself “why isn’t this just as good?” Oh wait, they don't put any money into MGM...
You have Finding Nemo for example which is very Broadway-like and is very enjoyable. It killed me to see these great performers dancing in Pepto Bismol pink dresses.
There were rumors a few years ago that they were going to replace this with a Tangled show and that really needs to happen. They could do a lot with Tangled, and we do need more Tangled in the parks. But anything PLEASE. This show is so dated and I didn’t find it enjoyable. You have this show in a park based on music, movies, and TV, and this is what you have?! I don’t think so.

And that ends my rant…

Ooh, look. Pretty palm trees.

We walked over to Muppet Vision and the doors were just opening when we got there.

And this is something else that needs to be updated, but I don’t think we need another rant just yet.

And then we did something that I never thought we would do.

The Backlot Tour.

We waited about 20 minutes for this god awful attraction. Why we did, I don’t know. I regret that decision.

I remember when they still had Residential Street. BUT NOW IT IS LIGHTS MOTOR ACTION WHAT THE CRAP DISNEY.

We can’t have nice things the end.

And now this whole tour is total crap and a waste of your time.

For my twin.

Whoever decided that Walt’s plane needs eyes to promote Planes should be shot. And now, we have to promote this god awful movie in the spiel instead of saying the history of the plane. I have no words.

May 10th (part 2): GET MOI OUT OF HERE I NEED MK AND WISHES

Oh my god….. This is the point where I started getting really bored. I was already bored, but I was really bored now.

When we were getting off, I saw on the Streets of America, CHARACTERPALOOZA WAS GOING ON so we ran over there.

MEEKO WAS OUT!!!!

I was DYING to meet the Evil Queen but there set was ending. STUPID BACKLOT TOUR TAKING UP MY TIME GRRRR.

At least I got to meet Meeko.

We were both getting hungry, so we decided on the ABC Commissary and split the chicken club or whatever it was.

It was ok. Nothing really special or anything. And wow this picture is awful.

After we ate, we went over to One Man’s Dream so I could cry over the most perfect man.

We watched the movie, cried our eyes out, and then we used our FP for TSM.

AND HOLY CRAP I WON HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE.

I had to get out of that god awful place, so we drove over to MK because duh.

We had some time to kill before Wishes so we went to Auntie Gravity’s and got an ice cream.

We went back to Main St and I set up my tripod for Wishes.

One of my twitter friends, Libby (@solonglibby), was just getting to MK so I said that she could watch Wishes with us. She came over and we chatted for a few about her CP and probably cats, because duh, she loves cats.

May 11th: Squishy yeti poop

Mum wanted to go to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. We got there and it was packed, and so was every other breakfast place. I mean, it was Mother’s Day and all.

So we just drove to WDW and we would get something when we got to Animal Kingdom.

We went to one of the little carts/kiosk things. I got a cinnamon bun and Mum got a GIANT piece of coffee cake. I tried it and it was really good.

After we finished our very late breakfast, we went down to Harambe to see how the theater was coming along.

So close!

We walked over to Everest and watched the screaming people from the front.

And then for some ridiculous reason, we went on Dinosaur.

I look terrified.

Details in the dump(ish) shop.

Our FP was coming up for EE, so we went back over there and looked in the dump shop for a few.

We went back outside and Mum looked at a wall and told me that this was “squishy yeti poop.” And she made me take a picture of it. I have nothing to say.

It was time to use our FP, so we headed towards the queue.

I am hot.

We went to get out of the heat for awhile so we went to see Finding Nemo. It was awesome, as always.

By the time it got over, it was time to use our FP for Kilimanjaro.

It was about 5 when we got off KS, and I was kinda hungry, so took the tram back to the car and drove over to the Fort.

I wanted fried chicken.

We pulled up to the security gate and said that we were going to Trails End To Go and the CM was like “Well you need a reservation to park here.” And we were like, yeah we know, but can we park.

“Well parking is almost at capacity.”

Um, you always say that and it never is.

And then he just let us through.

I JUST WANT MY FRIED CHICKEN, YOU IDIOT.

We took the bus to Settlement and then ordered at Trails End.

We waited about 20 minutes for our food and then we chowed down.

NOMS.

I never learn my lesson and not get two carbs for my sides. It just gets WAY too filling and I never can finish everything.

After we ate, we took the bus back to parking and drove on home.​

May 17th (part 1): VELCOME TO NORVAY

It was the last weekend of Flower and Garden for the year so we wanted to go to Epcot to look at everything again. We didn’t get enough time at F&G, and when we did go, there was basically a tornado, so yeah.

The front display was lookin’ great.

We had a FP for Nemo and Dudes. And before anyone says anything, we wanted to go on and the line was ridiculously long.

After we got off, we said hi to the manatees and other sea creatures.

We went over to the butterfly house. There were tons of butterflies out and it was great.

I was hungry and I was craving pulled pork so we went to the Smokehouse so I could get the amazing pulled pork sandwich they have. Seriously, that thing is good.

We walked over to France and went to L'Artisan des Glaces.

We got the croque glace, which is a brioche filled with ice cream and your choice of raspberry or chocolate sauce. They put it in this thing which looks like a waffle maker and it presses it and comes out warm. AND HOLY CRAP IT IS AMAZING. I forgot to take a food pic, but oh whale. I need to get it again soon!

We ate it in the bakery and then we walked around WS.

We got to NorVAY and I didn’t realize that it was Constitution Day! I had no clue they did this big celebration and it was really cool.

They had this set up in the room Anna and Elsa used to meet in and you could get a little pamphlet and do a scavenger hunt kinda thing.

We got one and went around the pavilion to find the answers.

When we were done, we brought it back and got lollipops and stickers. BOO YA!

CMs were painting the Norwegian flag on people’s faces so we got it done, duh.

We had a FP to use for Spaceship Earth so we made our way to the front of the park.

We were trying to show off our flags on our faces, but for some reason, I had a giant hole in my face. Thanks a lot, Spaceship Earth.

Seriously, what happened to me.

It was really hot outside so we decided to just chill in the shade in Future World.

But first, let me take a selfie.

We went back to the butterfly house to look around again.

And I am sorry, but if your child is holding onto a butterfly’s wings and practically crushing it, don’t take a picture and have another parent say something to your kid. And oh, they were Spanish, so that explains a lot.

Since it was Constitution Day and all, we decided that it was the perfect time to try School Bread. I had never had it before and I know people RAVE about it.

IT WAS TIME!

I have to say, I LOVED School Bread. I noticed that there was some cardamom in it and I love cardamom bread. This was perfect.

After we ate, we walked around WS, and stopped in Morocco.

May 17th (part 2): That time that I used a $600 lens that wasn't mine

It was almost time for our Soarin FP so we walked over to the Land.

We still had some time to kill so we went on Living with the Land.

We used our FP and I was very upset that we got 3rd row. Second row is bad enough, but third row is awful.

We walked back to WS and got some fish and chips in the UK. They were pretty good.

It was about 8:15 and I knew that we needed to head to Japan if I was going to get a good spot for Illuminations.

There was barely anyone up there and I got a perfect spot right in the corner.

I was doing some test shots with my camera, just using my 18-55mm.

This guy then came up to me and was like “I forgot my tripod so I won't be taking any pictures and have this extra lens with me, if you want to use it. It is a 11-16mm.” And then I died on the spot.

I mean, I was ALL for using a wide angle lens but I was just shocked. This random guy is letting me use a $600 lens and I wasn’t being punk’d?! Ok then.

He showed me how to use a few things on it and I took some practice shots with it.

GAHHHHHHHHH.

Lens Guy and I talked for awhile about photography and it was nice to have someone understand what I am talking about for once.

Now, I don’t know Illuminations inside and out like I do with Wishes. I really don’t know when they are gonna shoot the fireworks off. And then I kept clicking my remote too fast and missed some great shots. And then the whole new lens thing.

I got several decent shots, but I really wanted to get one with all of the fireworks coming from the sides to the middle since I was using a wide angle. That really didn’t happen. Oh whale.

I like these shots, but I just really wish I wouldn’t have clicked my remote too fast and missed a great one. There is always next time.

I gave the lens back to the guy (sadly) and thanked him. It was really nice of him to do that!

I went through my shots, packed up my tripod, and we headed out.​

May 24th: Our first time at Typhoon Lagoon!

We had looked online at water park ticket prices. We had never been to a Disney water park before but since it has been really hot out and the parks are packed, we thought that going to the water parks would be a good option. Now, the tickets are fifty something, but we found this FL resident AP for water parks after 2pm for only SIXTY THREE DOLLARS. So why in the world would we get a one day ticket when we could get the AP?!

We bought the AP online and then when we got to Typhoon Lagoon that day, we went to GR and redeemed the APs.

We got our tickets and then headed on in!

I noticed how much the décor is similar to Castaway Cay. It is PERFECT.

Well HOLY CRAP THAT WAVE.

Since I don’t have a waterproof camera and all, I just had to leave mine at our chairs that we found by the wave pool. I really need to look into a waterproof camera though.

We went into the wave pool first, and that was a lot of fun.

Afterwards, we made 1.5 loops around Castaway Creek.

Then we did Mayday Falls and Keel Haul Falls.

We went back to our chair and I got my camera and we went to the ice cream place that will go nameless because I don’t know its name.

Of course we got the Sand Pail. We’d be stupid not to.

We barely got any whipped cream though! What the crap!

And if you are wondering, yes, I ate it with the shovel. Can’t handle my awesomeness.

After we devoured that thing, we went back to our chair so I could put my camera away.

We did Gangplank Falls and then we went over to the Shark Reef. I really wanted to try snorkeling and we were thinking about doing it in Castaway, but I was scared. And paying $40 and not using the equipment would be a waste, so we passed. Since you don’t have to pay for the equipment at TL, we wanted to try it.

They send in a group at a time and I went in and put my face down, trying to breathe, and I just couldn’t do it. This is what I was scared of (not being able to breathe) and I knew it just wasn’t for me. And they don’t give you great instructions either.

Mum said that she was having a hard time breathing too, but she enjoyed looking at the fish and stuff. I didn’t see any of that, since I swam to the exit and all.

Never. Again.

There was another half hour left till closing and we wanted to do Crush n Grusher. We did it two times and I LOVED it. It is like the Aquaduck and it is SO much fun.

We went back to our chair and got our stuff together and headed on out.

We had a ton of fun, and it was something different for a change. I can’t wait to go back!​

May 25th (part 1): THE SEVEN DWARFS MINE TRAIN!!!

I got up on this fine Saturday morning and looked at Twitter and PEOPLE WERE GETTING FASTPASSES FOR 7DMT FOR THAT DAY.

I went on MDE and snatched some up! YES!

To the Magic Kingdom we went!

I had to say hi to my Chippies.

We got to 7DMT and noticed that it was not up. Wonderful. Our FPs weren’t until a little later but I wanted to see the wait time.

There was a line waiting for it to open so we got in it. It was SO hot outside but I was DYING to ride 7DMT after waiting three years. This was happening.

We had a FP for BTMR that was coming up in like five minutes so I went on and changed it to later so we could still go on. And people complain about FP+, but you can change your FP if something else gets in the way. Idiots.

After waiting for about 25 minutes in the stroller parking area, THEY LET DOWN THE ROPE AND I COULD BARELY WALK BECAUSE I WAS FREAKING OUT.

WE WERE GOING INTO THE QUEUE.

TEARS TEARS TEARS.

KLDFHJKLSDHFJKSHDKLJSHJKSHD.

BUT OMG OMG OMG.

Sadly, we had to fly right by the interactive queue because there was barely anyone in front of us.

We waited about 15 minutes, because of FP people, which was fine with me. IT WAS FINALLY TIME!!!!!!! SFKLSHDKLSHDJKLSDHJKLSDHJKLD.

Before we knew, we were on our way!

We got inside of the mine and OH. MY. GOD. I was in AWE. Those AAs are downright amazing and being in there makes me want to sing and dance. It is incredible.

May 25th (part 2): My (belated) birthday dinner!

We got off and then we stopped in front of the cottage to take some pictures.

Now I am sure everyone and their mother wants to know what I thought of the ride, since ya know. I am obsessed with Snow White and all and have been looking forward to this for years.

I thought they did an amazing job. The ride is very smooth, and more intense than I thought it would be. Watching it test, it didn’t look that bad. Now, I am not comparing this to Everest intensity. It is intense in its own way. It is faster than I thought it would be, that’s all.
The mine is SO cool. The AAs are amazing and I love singing and dancing along. It is just so much fun.
The ride is on the shorter side, but not much you can do when you are confined to that amount of space. They made a fantastic attraction for the room they did have.

After I died, we went to Gaston’s and got the usual.

It was really hot outside and our 7DMT FP was coming up so we wanted to stay close to Fantasyland, so we found a spot on the balcony at Pinocchio’s.

Once our FP came up, we went over to 7DMT, and there was a big crowd outside the attraction.

The ride was not open. Wonderful.

We talked to a CM and he said that if we came back later, our FP would still be valid. Ok then.

We had an ADR coming up so we had to head out of the park and we took a bus over to the Beach Club.

It was still too early to check in so we looked around the Marketplace and sat in the lobby.

Our destination.

We waited about 10 minutes to be seated.

I got the Beaches burger for my entrée. It was a regular burger but it also had ham and sautéed onions on it. I think that was it for “special” toppings, but I can’t even find it on a menu online. It may be new, but I am not sure. It was really good though!

Mum just got a regular cheeseburger. And yes, that is her ketchup masterpiece.

Since I had my birthday button on and all, the whole restaurant sang happy birthday to your truly and I got a balloon. #livinitup

After we paid and all of that stuff, we walked to the bus stop and a MK bus was just pulling up.

We got on the bus and we were sitting down, and the bus driver played the “someone is celebrating a birthday today” spiel thing, but I am not sure if it was for me or not. It probably was because duh.

We got to MK and headed straight for 7DMT to see about using our FP.

We saw these two on the way and THEY WERE WALKING ARM IN ARM OMG I CANT.

And our FPs worked! YAY!

May 25th (part 3): IT'S OFF TO WORK WE GO!

HI-HOOOOOO!

You can’t even see into the cottage during the day because of the glare BUT AT NIGHT IT IS PERF.

We were walking over towards Frontierland so I could look at the pin board and we had a FP for BTMR and it started raining.

Which led to this.

We were stuck in the mercantile for awhile and then we went to see the Country Bears because we had nothing else to do. Mum really enjoyed that.

I need this pin because for one, chip is the emoji, and for two, he is #livinituplovethatfeeling.

It was still raining and we had a Haunted Mansion FP to use so we just made a run for it.

After we took a tour of my Mansion for the 308908590 time, we walked over to Tomorrowland to go on the TTA to get out of the rain.

It was still raining so we went into CoP.

Surprisingly, all of the AAs seemed to be working and the sides (idk what to call them) were very bright and you could see everything.

Like, look at that!

And then we got to the last scene, and that was a hot mess.

The TV wasn’t working (it just showed this picture the whole time) and the son’s mouth wouldn’t move and one of his eyes was closed, so he was Mike Wazowski.

The rain was had pretty much stopped and I wanted to see the wait time for 7DMT, but the ride was down for the 938490384 time that day, but this was due to the weather, or at least I think.

We stood in the stroller parking area and the rain picked up for awhile. The things we do for 7DMT, guys.

We were let in after about 30 minutes and EVERYONE in the queue was singing Hi Ho and I was dying of the perfection.

That ride is TOTALLY different at night and I love it.

After we got off, we went over to a FP kiosk because we had technically used all of our FPs that day, even though BTMR wasn’t up. It was telling us that we never used our BTMR FP so we asked a CM and she said even though the ride was down because of the rain, they never “cleared their FP queue at the attraction.” Well then. So we just switched it to POTC and it was valid in a few minutes.

On the way over to Adventureland, I noticed Wishes was going to start any second, so we stopped in Frontierland and watched it. There was no one over there and it really is an awesome spot to watch the fireworks. I need to set up my tripod there.

I tried to do freehand long exposure, but that doesn’t work out so well for moi 99% of the time.

After Wishes got over, we went on Pirates and then looked around the dump shop for a few.

We looked at wait times and BTMR only said like 20 mins, but we ended up waiting like 40. In that hot disgusting queue. It was great.

I was supposed to meet up with a friend from Twitter but the wait times were ridiculous and it was just so humid out and I was not having it, so we just left.

May 30th: Star Wars fireworks FTW

I wanted to go to MGM to shoot the Star Wars fireworks. Now, I have no interest whatsoever in Star Wars but fireworks at MGM are my new favorite thing.

We got there at about 8:30. People were already filling spots in at the end of Hollywood Blvd so we went over to Echo Lake and I found a spot over there.

I set up my tripod and took a few practice shots.

I didn’t realize that the fireworks would be higher in the sky, and that there would be so many of them in six minutes. I was trying to play with my tripod and raise it more but I couldn’t really see it and I didn’t want to miss any good firework shots, so I just left the tripod the way it was. But I am very happy with how these came out.

After it was done, I packed up my tripod. We were on our way out of the park, but then I realized that there was a Fantasmic show at 10:30, so why not!

Tons of sections were empty so we didn’t have any trouble finding a spot.

Like always, the show was just ok. I could rant about how they need to update this thing just like the rest of MGM, but I won’t do that now.

WoooWwwwW. Look at those effects. I am BlowWnnN away.

The park was closed by the time we got out so we had to leave. How sad.​
