MULTIPLE SDMT Rides Before Park Opening!

Nope, not at all. I'm not the least bit interested in riding SDMT again. It sure is an interesting juxtaposition when it benefits you, though.

For those who think it's unfair, another thing to consider is that your wait for mine train at RD is actually lessened if guests dining at BOG ride it before RD. Their bodies aren't taking up space in SB.

And for those upset that they didn't get multiple rides on mine train after they ate breakfast at BOG, it has nothing to do with fairness and everything to do with how fast the CMs can get the ride up in the morning.

But really, who would want to? I think most guests would move on. It's a pretty underwhelming experience.

I agree that doesn't seem fair. Maybe equitable is a better word. Yes, those people paid for breakfast at BOG. And that gets them breakfast at BOG. Not sure how that translates into multiple rides on an attraction before the rest of the guests get there. Is this a perk listed on the site where you make your reservation? If so, then I don't see a problem with it. Then again, I would think most adults would be happy with just one ride on a kiddie coaster.

Because the restaurant is very close to the ride- Once the park is open to guests, it takes much less time for the bog crowd to get there. The multiple rides may have been a one time thing for all I know and I wasn't there so I don't know why they did it. It's not listed as a perk because you are in no way promised it will happen. Many guests have reported back that they didn't get to the ride any earlier and in fact later than other guests.

It's no more unfair than any other sprinkling of pixie dust that happens at WDW. It was unfair I suppose to other guests when a CM took us thru the back way at TOT and let us ride it 3 times in a row- offering another one that we declined. Or no less fair than any of the hundreds of reports we read every day of people who got a little extra- whether it's an extra FP+, a room upgrade, free popcorn- you name it.

The bottom line is though, what does it hurt anyone else? What does it cost you that someone got an extra ride on SDMT? Nothing. We've never done a pre park adr. I watched every time as guests got to go in and experience an empty Main street that I would love to experience. How is it fair that they get to do that and I don't? Because they did what it took to get it, that's why. It never once occurred to me it wasn't fair.

So, the only complaint to be made is- I don't want anyone to get anything I don't get. I sure hope WDW never gets to the point that if they can't give something to everyone, then no one gets it.

I believe the experience the OP was talking about with multiple rides is before anyone else got there. After that, if you're getting in line with everyone else, you're free to get in it as many times as you want.

My kids would like multiple rides. And I'd be willing to buy what sounds to be a mediocre breakfast to accomplish this feat. But on my 180+10 days will I find a table for 10 at 8AM? Time will tell.
In the "old days" I'd rope drop to the ride, grab FPs, ride standby, then ride my FPs. I will try that again, too. But will my 60+stay get me FP+s?... Time will tell.

(1) Because it's any ugly thing to say, and
(2) Because it just doesn't apply here. There are people who "pay more" for BOG breakfast and DON'T get multiple back to back rides on SDMT.

To be clear, I really (really, I promise) don't care if people who book BOG *may* get to ride SDMT back to back for several reasons:

(1) It's not that great of a ride (to me);
(2) They had to pay for (what I've read) is a pretty lackluster breakfast;
(3) It appears to me that pre-park opening breakfasts are becoming a thing of the past (witness the ever-more-present shift to 8:00 openings at MK);
(4) It's a crap shoot - it may or may not happen, but the lackluster breakfast (and its price tag) is a given.

I think it's a "pixie dust" thing, and I don't even think it's a heaping helping of pixie dust. Sure, it would be a perk, but it's not like they're handing out $100 bills.

If there is no one else there yet, it's honestly not a big deal. It's similar to when it's later in the evening and there is no one on the Barnstormer and they let you sit there riding it as many times as you like.

What fun! We have an 8am adr, but they changed park opening to 8. Good news is, the Friday we are there is still 9am andthey had an 8:10 adr this morning so I booked it and we're back on. I'm keeping both for now- insurance against any more park time changes. lol

Shocker, but I'm actually going to agree you're right on the part of paying more not really being applicable here. But whoa...an ugly thing to say? That in this world, when you pay more you usually get more? Not always the case, but most times and it's not ugly. It's reality.

But in this case probably not all that true- except for the guest is not getting that extra ride on SDMT for free- it costs. So perhaps the more accurate thing to say is, you pay for it, you get the chance at it.


Good luck to those trying to secure their adr! We just changed ours this morning to an 8:10 for 5, so from my experience, it's not too tough to find a pre-opening time. I hadn't even been watching for another day to go! Just happened to look and there it was.

OP- I will definitely report back on how it went for us with our ADR. Fingers crossed! I

You work awfully hard following my posts. lol

I find it much easier to get excited over small stuff than I do to get upset over small stuff. I'm strange that way I guess. When they changed the park opening to 8 for our 8am adr- eh..I was bummed a little, disappointed and it lasted about 2 minutes before I was over it.

I hear you. This happened to me on our last trip. I had momentary rage, but it was not altogether unexpected and I tried to focus on the "perk" of having an extra hour at MK in the a.m (which actually is a perk for us - and we used it for all it was worth).

Sounds like the changes in hours lately are more unexpected ... which makes this whole thing even more a crapshoot!
