Multiple Rock the Universe questions

Hi, I was pondering the thought of attending Rock the Universe, but I have a couple of questions first. Hopefully some people who have attended this event can explain to me what its like?

How does this event affect crowds? Will the park be slammed? Both beforehand and during the event?

Universal Studios closes at 6pm both nights, according to the website. However, Rock the Universe begins at 4pm. How does this work since Rock the Universe is a separate admission price? Is there like a wristband or something that they give you?

Rock the Universe ends at 1am...are the rides in the park open this entire time? What are lines like during this period?

Thanks so much!

Crowds will start to get really heavy after 4PM. The Studios will be jammed during the event and right before. Day guests have to leave at 6PM when the Studios closes but you will have a wristband that shows you can stay for RTU.

There are only four attractions at the Studios open during RTU this year. They are: MIB, Transformers, Despicable Me and the Rockit coaster. Everything else will be closed at 6PM. There are several restaurants open but that's about it.

Here's the link to the website for more information:

We are arriving that Saturday but are not attending Rock the Universe. I was planning on going to IOA for Saturday, US for Sunday and then back to IOA for Monday. Will the crowds be super heavy on Saturday at IOA??
The only reason I am worried for Saturday is because we will not be at the parks at Rope Drop (we are flying in). We are staying RPR; so we do have express pass.

If you are staying onsite, crowds will not be an issue with unlimited Express.

Do they clear the park at 6 and readmit? Or is it like extra magic hours where you can't ride anything without showing a room key (in this case, bracelet)?

They clear the park of everyone not wearing a wristband.

Wow, that surprises me about them only having certain rides open. The site does list a 5th ride, the Mummy. But still, that is good to know. I was about to assume that they would have everything open.:sad2:

Hard ticket events don't work that way. If everything was open it would be just another evening at the parks which would defeat the purpose of a special event. HHN is the same so if you're going to HHN one year, be prepared.
