I do not remember what the ultimate decision was regarding whether bands could be used multiple times or if during testing we get bands for each trip. Anybody know? I really do not need a second set but wouldn't mind testing again.

Also if some party members have AP and some will have paper tickets bought onsite (side question can UCt tickets be linked in MDE?) is this an issue for getting the same FP times?

Any reason not to do a second testing?

Thank you for the help!

I just returned on Oct. 22 and am going back on Dec. 5. I was assigned new Magic Bands for my next trip. Yes, you can link tickets from Undercover Tourist (just did that). No, you will have not have trouble doing FP+ if you have a mix of AP and tickets on the Magic Bands in your group (we just did that).

We have a split stay coming up and they said they had to give us two sets of MB for now.

Seems like a waste but I guess they don't have the systems set up yet to just issue one set.

If you get multiple sets, may I suggest bringing the extras? We originally had 3 sets. My boyfriend gave 1 of his extras to a friend. We each brought an extra...just in case...

On Thursday night, we got back to the room and my boyfriend showed me his wrist, minus his band. We think it may have come off while battling the crowds out of Epcot. Not sure. But glad we had a backup. I'm sure they could have issued him a gray one, but we didn't have to worry about it.

Oh, dear! I thought split stay was ok with 1 band. I was able to book FP+ selections...surely that will be okay? Seems silly to get another set of bands for 1 night.

Thanks for the help. I will get new bands for our December trip. Going to surprise my parents with them. What fun!

They are sending one set per reservation, but that is a formality. You should be able to use all bands for your entire split stay.

Nothing is stored on the bands. They each have a chip that simply reads the guest's MDEx profile. They will be able to used over and over again since they will read whatever is in the profile at the time they are scanned.

FP+ selections are linked to your MDEx profile so the band reads them when scanned. With a split stay you simply make selections for each day of your trip and any bands you have will read them in your profile.

marsh0013, I am interested in your BF's friend's experience. He shouldn't have been able to use the band for anything since it is linked to your BF's profile. Did he use it only for Xfinity?

During testing it is easier to send out one set per reservation. I doubt they cost Disney very much in the scheme of things. Eventually they will send on per person and guests will be expected to bring them back trip after trip.

Your parents won't be able to use any bands that are not created for them. Each band is linked to a user's profile when created. If your parents are on the reservation then they will get bands that they can use. If you simply plan to give them your extra bands that will not work.

They do send out bands for each segment of a split stay, if you choose band colors. If you don't choose colors any or all of the segments. You will be given a gray band at your resort if you want. Or you can use one band for all days of your stay. In fact you can probably use the same band for 2 years.

Yes, let me clarify, I will get new bands for December for everyone in the party. No worries about that!

One more question...what if they wait to get tickets until they get there? Will all FP+ selections have to wait or can I make them since we have APs?

Oh yeah, it wasn't for use at Disney. My boyfriend's friend is a Disney fanatic but didn't have any upcoming trips, so my boyfriend wanted to give it to him just as a memento. Possibly also for the infinity game. But mostly just a cool thing to have.

You will be able to make FP+ selections for those that have tickets tied to their profiles. As for the others, they can either wait to get tickets and hopefully be able to copy your selections to their profiles when you get there, or they can get tickets now and link them to their profiles so you can make FP+ selections for everyone.

I called Disney with this question. I already had bands from September, but they said that during testing they wanted new bands for each reservation. And further, my October trip was at 2 resorts, with 2 different room types at the second resort, so technically it was 3 different reservations in October. So right now I have 4 Magic Bands for myself (DH has 2, since he was only there part time)-6 bands for the two of us. Then, when I got to the second resort in October, I was still wearing the band from the previous resort, so the CMs worked their "Magic" at the front desk and I was able to wear the same band for the entire trip, which meant that 2 bands went totally unused. Confused? Yes, it was confusing! Anyways, yes, according to Disney, during the testing, every reservation means a new band.

I already have several magic bands, too. I live in Florida and am lucky enough to be able to go down for short stays. Since right now they give them to you anyway, I'm trying and get as many colors as possible to match whatever I am wearing. You can use whatever magic band you want since they are all linked to your account, but if you want to use different ones for the same stay, you need to make sure the front desk encodes whatever magic band(s) you want to use when you check in at your resort or it won't work as your room key. They were willing to encode more than one magic band for me at my last OKW stay. In fact, the CM told me she already had 4 herself.

Interesting on the room key note. We didn't know that the front desk needed to do anything to our extra bands. They didn't know we had extras. At least we didn't mention it to them. They did tell us to tap all our bands to our door to activate them. So we did with both of our sets. And both sets worked as room keys. I actually let my brother hold onto my extra (he was in a different room) so he could come into our room and get snacks and drinks if we were out.
