Multiple Magic Bands?

When we travel to WDW in April, we will each have multiple active magic bands. Some we've purchased, some we have from previous trips, plus new ones ordered. Does anyone know if we can use them all interchangeably throughout the trip. Meaning...if I have a pink one, a blue one, and a purple (all assigned to me and active in MDE) I've purchased, can I use different ones each day to match my outfit? TIA.
 
In theory, yes. I have A LOT and am often scolded by CMs that I have "too many" and the system will be "messed up". Interestingly enough, we had an Uber driver that just so happened to be a trainer for WDW. He said that's absolutely NOT true, he has over 50 and never had a problem. WDW IT dept, also confirmed that you can have as many as your heart desires. With that being said, I have had problems with the first MB I got. It has stopped working on me before, but guest services reset it and it's fine. So long story short, yes, all of your magic bands will work as long as they are under your profile on MDE

Yes, you can absolutely do this. We've got probably a dozen different MB's (we've stopped ordering new ones) and just go with whatever is handy. Living locally, we keep some in our cars just in case we get the urge to stop into a park while we are out doing other things and we have a stock at home as well. They all work just fine.

All active bands in MDE will behave the same way: open a resort room and support room charging if check-in has been completed, allow access to ME, and give park access if a ticket is assigned.
Understand that MDE is the central hub or brains of this system. MBs are our "keys" to accessing MDE.

Yes, you can use them interchangeably as long as they are active in your MDE. Room charging is applied to your MDE. Your active MBs give you access to your MDE.
 
Yup you can use them interchangeably. In November I brought my band that they sent and one that I bought and linked to my account. I did streamlined check-in when I arrived, so I went straight to my room after getting off the magical express bus. Because I had two different bands, they wouldn't open my door. Luckily my room was close... and I went down to the frontdesk and told a CM. They had to hard code my bands since I had more than one. I also bought a purple one around day 4, at MK. So when I got back from the park, I made sure to stop at the frontdesk again so they could hard code that band, so that it would open the door to my room.

Re: charging to the room, I don't think it's about whether it's an old band or new band, last Dec. I'd set up the charging on line, using the same cc as my last trip, I had 3 new bands and last year's band.
My experience last Dec. w/ 3 way split & 4 bands w/ AP:
AKV - room # texted to me, went straight to room MBs opened door, went to park MB worked to enter, used dinning plan credits. Charging to room did not work (as I discovered in park) had to go to front desk to set up charging even though last year's pen worked for dinning plan and I'd entered the CC number on line.
BWV - room text, went straight to room MBs opened door, etc. and charging worked, never went to front desk at all.
VGF - text to go to front desk to get room number. Had to set up charging again.
 
I have a lot, use them whenever I want and have never had a problem or CM say anything to me other than "wow, you a bunch" with a smile.

Ive had the same thing happen a few times, direct to room check in and everything worked but the room charging was 50/50. The last time I went they needed to swipe my cc to activate room charges so maybe this is a issue they are still working out in the long run? Who knows

Even before they had MBs room charging worked about half the time. They just have issues with things working 100% of the time in my experience.


I now have 13 MBs. Only the oldest has stopped opening the door, but all the rest (and one of them was from the first MB trip we took...the one not working was one they gave me when I couldn't initially find the one sent for the trip) work perfectly. (I rarely use room charging so I'm not including that in the "perfectly" bit)

But because of my experience with room charging, I ALWAYS always always take a backup form of payment with me.
